So happy mum came here.
The support of the staff is amazing. I cannot recommend them more highly. The empathy they have shown during some very difficult periods has been superb. Mum is very well looked after and is becoming much more settled. Very happy with the care provided.
Staff very helpful & very pleasant always. Meals very good & wholesome, plenty of variety. Our carer is a treasure! Also other staff are lovely & helpful.
I cannot fault the lovely ladies that work at Gildawood Court, from the lady on reception and the lovely care people. Mum has settled in lovely and our family know she is having the best care and food possible. My only criticism is the decor is very tired and I think all the rooms would benefit from a lick of paint to make it as colourful as the staff. The room furniture is also a bit worse for wear.
Gildawood Court staff have gone above and beyond in caring for my mother, who has been diagnosed with dementia. Everyone, from the reception staff to carers and managers have been great with my mum, and kept me informed of any changes.
Our dad was placed in a D to A bed here, we had no other care home choice. Reception staff are lovely, but dad nor any of his family enjoyed this placement. The home seems very clinical, has no carpet, and we were told not to go in at lunchtime. The dietician agreed that we should go in to encourage dad to eat; the food was awful, we took pictures of one meal, and I completely understand why dad (who loved to eat!) refused dinners. The staff were ok, but did not communicate with us. They all went for a tea break at 3pm, so if you needed a member of staff that wasn't possible. We requested a DNR to be put in place but it wasn't. Dad has dementia, so staff would ask him him he wanted to go into the dining room or sit in the chair, but he always said, "no". They would never pursue this so he didn't get out of bed at all for the 4 weeks he was there. His mobility has always been a problem, but they have made this worse through their lack of perseverance.
I am so impressed with the standard of care given at Gildawood court. My mother has been shown such care and dignity and treated like an individual. She was asked her preferences and all her needs have been met with these in mind. The team there are so kind, approachable and hard working and I can't recommend them enough.
When I first visited Gildawood I was greeted by the lady on reception who was very friend and helpful. I was taken to my dads room which is very nice clean and comfortable. The nurses are very friendly and explained how dad would be taken care of and if we need to ask any questions. There were there to help, the food is first class with very good choices. My dad really enjoys the food. We feel comfortable that dad is in good hands and taken care of without any worries.
Found the home smelly. Very few staff at any time. White staff can be rude. Black girls are more friendly. Untrained and taking too long to care for residents. The toilet had excrement in and the bedpan had too. I had to clean and flush the toilet. The resident is made to feel they were in the way and made to feel prisoner.
Just cannot fault the care received by Dad at Gildawood. He went from being bed ridden and unable to feed himself after hospital discharge to being up on his feet and getting a little bit of independence back even with him living with Alzheimer's. Big thanks to all the staff. You are all amazing and he would have definitely stayed with you if it was closer to home.
My partner was looked after by experienced, caring and kind staff. All her needs were met in pleasant surroundings. All staff were supportive to myself and went above and beyond to sort a difficult situation out.
Mum's been in care for nearly 3 years and as her health has deteriorated her support has increased. I can't fault the way she's been treated throughout her stay or how the home keeps her family up to date with her changing medical needs. On visits when staff have been present, nothing has been too much trouble and they have taken time to talk and answer questions about Mum when asked. Thank you all for everything you do.
Overall a good place. Dad was upstairs on a discharge to assessment. Nice enough room however could have done with hoovering and cobweb removal more often! There are a few members of staff who really made things for Dad. Food was a massive issue. I took meals in every day for Dad.
Vert friendly. Good visiting times, very flexible.
Very caring staff. Residents are looked after by trained staff. Food is excellent. Clean surrounding. Administrative staff are very approachable. Dignity towards all residents is clearly visible.
I viewed Gildawood prior to my mum becoming a resident. I knew straight away it was the right home for my mum. It just felt right - the atmosphere, the location and the home itself. What I had not bargained for was just how fabulous the staff are. They go above and beyond to support my mum. Even when staff and my mum are not aware I have arrived, I can see the relationship they have with her. I can't thank them enough! Everything is just perfect!
Shortage of qualified staff. Agencies used do not speak properly to residents. Sometimes too quiet. My husband has not had his teeth cleaned or false teeth stuck in for over a year. I have mentioned this numerous times. Overall the staff are very pleasant and friendly. Loss of property is a constant complaint. Outside garden could be made more resident-friendly. Seats shaded areas and paths to walk on grass area is very uneven.
My dad was neglected to the point he developed a nasty fungal infection and was taken to A&E. I was told I was going to be contacted by the manager and wasn't to discuss my complaint. Still waiting for communication from them. And also hasn't communicated with me to see if my dad is ok. Very let down and upset with the care received.
I am very pleased with the care that my dad has received at Gildawood Court. He has felt comfortable and safe in his own room and has been attended to well by the carers.
