View Full Details of Moat House Care HomeMoat House has provided the safe and nurturing environment that my aunty needs. She moved in needing a bucketful of TLC and this is what she has received. It can be difficult to balance the emotional and physical support that a new resident needs and Moat House staff have achieved this.
Really felt I needed to submit a review after visiting a friends relative in the last week. I have to say I was completely bowled over when entering Moat House. I felt I was in a luxury Hotel, the quality, style and ambience was second to none. It really does have the wow factor. I was greeted by a professional reception/ Team who booked me in for my visit. I then went through the corridor to find my friends relative and was able to see some of the rooms en route which were spacious, bright and immaculate. I was able to wander around the kitchen garden, with tables, sitting areas and is clearly tended and loved. It was an enjoyable and refreshing visit to be in this lovely place. Hats off to the team who were friendly and professional.
Having to place my dad into respite care was one of the most difficult decisions I've had to make, especially given how poorly he has been. However, from the very beginning, the team at Moat house have made an incredibly hard situation so much easier to bear. Every member of staff we've encountered has been nothing short of wonderful-caring, compassionate, and genuinely dedicated to ensuring my father's needs are fully met. They've taken the time to understand him not just as a patient, but as a person. His medical and personal care have been handled with professionalism and real kindness, which has given us such a relief. What has truly stood out, though, is the way they've supported him socially as well. They've made sure he stays engaged and connected, and that he never feels isolated or left out. That kind of attention to emotional and social wellbeing is something you can't put a price on. I'm deeply grateful to everyone at Moat House for the respect, dignity shown to my Father
Moat House are wonderful. They are very caring and helpful. Two staff members stand out in particular. I cannot thank the staff enough for making a difficult, emotional decision to trust care to strangers. The open air spaces with the garden and aviary make Moat House more like a park than a care home. I would definitely recommend Moat House if you have to make this difficult decision.
Well what can I say about Moat House - one word excellent. My husband was treated with the upmost respect at all times. The staff are the best of the best - nothing was too much trouble. The care was second to none. Highly highly recommend.
We were looking for a care home for our mum who was relocating from North Devon and from the moment that my sister and I walked into the Moat House, we knew this was the place for mum. As we were shown around all the residents we saw were greeted by name with a "hello" and "how are you" and were treated with respect. We were very lucky that mum actually wanted to be in a care home to be looked after, and have company. All the staff are fantastic, positive, caring and encouraging. With so many activities including outings mums days are full and happy. Mum has compared the Moat House with a warners hotel which is where she will be happily spending the rest of her days! Thank you all.
Most of the staff are very good with my mum but on occasions, she has looked dishevelled, hair not brushed and her fingernails dirty. I wonder then whether she's had a wash, shower, etc. Also, her room on occasion has looked unclean stains on the carpet including urine on one occasion. Also, her commode was soiled on toilet seat. Also mum is paying a lot of money, it should be better.
Overall my experience has been disappointing. My wife comes home from seeing her mum and she has had to complain to staff and management. Moat Hours seems to be reactive as opposed to proactive when her mum first went into the home 2 years ago. In December, she complained about the tiredness (lack of) of her room, the stained carpet and the smell of urine (twice). When you complain something is done. There is a noticeable lack of staff compared to 2 years ago.
It took a lot of persuasion to get my elderly and confused friend to go in to Moat House Care Home. She's only in for 2 weeks respite, but said she would like to return. She said it's a friendly place and loves the food.
My elderly neighbour is a resident for respite and is very pleased with the service that she is receiving. She has told us that the food is excellent and that the staff are very friendly.
My dad (an amputee) has been a Moat House resident for 18 months now. His needs can be complex and I feel the staff have taken the time to get to know him and deal with his care requirements with care and compassion, he has good banter with them and It really is home from home for him. nicely decorated, a delicious daily menu ( we say 5 stars all-inclusive) and the most fabulous activities team organising daily activities and entertainment. I visit most days and always walk away knowing he is in the best place for him. Lucky to have the moat house on our doorstep.
My dad lived in Moat House for six years and sadly passed away in March last year. He liked his own company and was very happy to stay in his room reading his daily newspaper, listening to his radio and watching TV. The staff at Moat House respected his decision and bought his meals to his room and kept him regularly supplied with cups of coffee! Dad didn't really want to move into a care home, but he was impressed with Moat House and we both felt all his needs were met, he received the best care and more than anything he was treated as an individual.
Facilities are excellent and the staff can never do enough to help my dad. Very very happy with the care and service. He has now been in Moat House for around 3 months and is very settled there. There is very much a small community at the home and the staff are always friendly and willing.
Management was very accommodating during the period that my husband was there for respite following a stay in hospital allowing me to increase the length of time he was there without fuss. The staff are all friendly and treat the residents with dignity even at difficult times. My husband has Parkinsons which can be a roller coaster illness but staff were always patient even when he had an off day. Management always available which was a plus.
To date, all expectations of the home have been met. All staff at all levels are very friendly and professional.
Mum came in for respite in April, she settled well under difficult family circumstances. The staff from top to bottom have been very caring and now we are confident enough to keep her at Moat House full-time.
Staff make Grandma feel very safe and always happy to assist her with anything she needs help with. If Grandma has any medical issues, they are always dealt with quickly and myself and my family are always informed. Grandma feels very settled and very well cared for and treats Moat House as her home.
Excellent talk by three members who shared kit, footballs, book etc - football going back to post WW2. Very informative and entertaining especially as a former player's wife of 97 years old was present plus a resident who has supported them for 70 years. Very informative, lots of fun especially the anecdotes of a former player. A Slideshow brought back happy memories of the football care in the community.
The care home is a lovely place, always welcoming. A lovely atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Very friendly environment and residents all seem to be well cared for.
What can I say but a massive thank you for the care, respect and kindness that is always shown to my mum and to her visitors. I have total peace of mind for Mum's wellbeing which allows me to just enjoy time with her.
