View Full Details of Half Acre House Care HomeBefore I chose Half Acre House, I had a look at other care homes, and to me this was the best, ie the staff and home are up to all my expectations, and my wife is happy there.
Started off great, but avoid at all costs. Very poor management in place with little professionalism and knowledge, that is mainly controlled by lower ranking team members. Grandma seemed absolutely fine first few months, until her care needs increased they then didn't want to know. They lost her teeth and haven't reimbursed her the cost of them, at her age and declined health we can't get her anymore. Often in dirty clothes and sat in her own urine. Staff refuse to put her in bed when that's all she really wanted to do. She was "too hard work" for them. Following several complaints from my mum to the manger which got her no where other than a 2 week eviction notice. An old frail lady in her 80s with early onset of vascular dementia was asked to leave because they couldn't be bothered to provide for her needs. The manager reported my mum to the services and said she was a safeguarding concern, who is the daughter of my grandma. Absolutely terrible place.
Went to visit a friend at the Half Acre House Care Home in Radcliffe. Been a couple of times. Really welcoming atmosphere. We played bingo - staff, residents and visitors. Family atmosphere. cake and drinks. Residents were very involved. Couldn't fault it. Clean and Tidy.
I have just attended a VE party that the staff had organised. It was very tastefully done, and the residents & their families thoroughly enjoyed it. This is typical of Half Ace, they put so much effort into every aspect of life within the home. All the staff join in to make everything they do special. I am so grateful for everyone of them for making a very difficult (for me) situation into a very pleasant experience. Every time I visit, my husband is calm & happy within himself. I couldn't ask for anywhere better for my husband to live.
Review for the home: I cannot thank the team at Half Acre Care Home enough for the incredible care they provide to my mum. From the moment she arrived over 5 years ago, it was clear that this is more than just a care facility - it's a place filled with warmth, compassion, and genuine kindness. The staff are not only highly professional but also incredibly caring and attentive. They treat my mum with the same love and respect they would show their own family, which means the world to us. It gives me peace of mind knowing she's in such capable and compassionate hands. Every member of the team goes above and beyond to ensure she is comfortable, happy, and well looked after. Their dedication shines through in everything they do - from the thoughtful little touches to the constant communication and support they offer our family. Half Acre truly feels like a home, not just for my mum, but for all of us who care about her. We're so grateful to have found such a special place.
The staff at Half Acre House Care Home have been so very welcoming and caring, settling our mum into the home. They have made a difficult and stressful time for the family as calm and smooth as possible. Half Acre has a strong sense of community and home. A big thank you to all the staff at Half Acre.
Since my mum arrived at Half Acre House Care Home in November, she has settled amazingly. She is like a different woman. I don't think in all my time as a carer of 40 years, have I ever met a more dedicated bunch of staff. They are all kind, honest and extremely friendly. After I visit I can go home and rest knowing my mum is in safe hands. Half Acre, 100% amazing.
I think the home is lovely, so clean and so tidy. Looks more like a hotel than a nursing home. The staff are so welcoming, so helpful and care so much about the people they care for and their families, staff always have smiles on there faces and love their jobs. I would recommend this care home to anyone who needs it. Absolutely brilliant place, there are always things to entertain the residents. An absolutely a stunning home.
This is an outstanding care home! My Mum and Mother-in-Law are both residents. Attended the Valentine's Party last night. What a beautiful, happy environment. Credit to the home manager and all her staff - who are such caring and amazing people. My mother-in-law danced to her heart's content, my mum enjoyed singing and eating the lovely food. Feel very lucky to be part of this special group! Look forward to my weekly visits, always welcomed with open arms. Outstanding!
The staff are very helpful and give time to the residents and are good at their job.
My mother-in-law attended a party with a DJ and she hasn't stopped talking about it ever since she even got to dance which hadn't done in a long time. The staff are so friendly and helpful and her room is so homely can't fault any of it.
My mum went into Half Acre House on the 21st of August and from the 1st day she was made to feel very welcome. The staff are always on hand to answer any questions or concerns you may have. The rooms are very homely and beautifully decorated. Good choice of food at all meal times. Always activities going on, always music playing which my mum enjoys. Can't fault the home in any way.
My mum was admitted into Half Acre House Care Home and has been there for a few weeks now. When my mum was at home she was self-neglected in every way she was confused to the point where we were about to question her capacity. Mum had carers going in regularly but this did not stop her from being on the setee for 3 days and 3 nights unwashed and very depressed Within days my mum has been transformed with not just the TLC she deserves but with staff that show her love and compassion she is now immaculate mentally stimulated loved and very very bright as she is receiving the care she deserves and being fed nurtured and sometimes coaxed to not take to her bed all day. She is given choices and is not judged and I myself can not praise the staff enough and owe them big time as after a very long time I have my mum back proud strong and beautiful and I have a fantastic relationship with her. Thank you guys and girls you really are an amazing team!
What makes this building a home (in the personal sense) is the staff. They are professional, caring, knowledgeable, treat every resident as an individual and with respect. It was very hard to place my mum in care, the staff have made transition as easy as it could be for everyone.
The staff are extremely helpful.
The staff are always warm and friendly to both residents and visitors. Staff are very caring ensuring residents are well cared for to the best of the staff's ability. The bedroom especially the ensuite is a little outdated and could do with a refurbishment. The communal resident's toilet is also in need of a refurbishment though the staff do cope with the facilities/equipment that is available to them. My relative is very happy in the home and is very content with living here.
I have nothing but praise for Half Acre House Care Home. The care of the staff was very good with a lot of care for residents' dignity. I was also very pleased with how they kept me informed as to anything that my sister-in-law needed or any outside care e.g. hospital or doctor care that was needed. They went out of their way to please her with her food requirements.
My mum came to the care home for respite care after breaking her leg. The care was of a very good standard and tailored to my mum's needs. Realising that my mum needed full-time care she decided to become a permanent resident. My mum loves the food and often asks for seconds, she feels safe and also knows that the staff will do all they can to keep her comfortable. The home is a safe, clean, caring environment and the staff are a credit to themselves as they often go beyond the call of duty.
Since meeting all the staff, I have found them great. They can't do enough and helped me loads to settle my aunty. The home is lovely, clean and an overall great place with friendly staff. I would highly recommend.
After a multitude of illnesses, it was decided Mum needed extra care that we couldn't provide as a family. Without the excellent staff and service provided at Half Acre House, I do honestly believe Mum would possibly not be with us today. She has constant attention now as and when she needs it, food available when she is hungry, if not a set meal time and staff are always there to help. No task is too small and they are always there to answer any questions we may have. Always a smile and a friendly chat when we arrive and haven't, at any point when we have been at the home, seen or heard any of the staff complaining or not looking as if they don't want to be there. That goes a long way as a relative to know not only my Mum-in-law is so well cared for but other residents too.
