After caring for my father in law who has dementia at home for a year it was a very difficult decision to move him to a care home. When we visited for the first time we instantly got a feel for how caring and friendly the staff were and after almost 2 years we still feel the same. The staff are
fantastic and give him the care he needs and always keep us updated with any changes to his condition.
He is happy and settled there. He has built relationships with the staff, who have taken the time to get know him well.
The home is always clean and has a homely feel to it. We always feel welcome when we visit and leave knowing he is happy and comfortable.

The staff at the home clearly try to accommodate the needs of their residents. They're caring and conscientious in carrying out their duties. They're very open to requests from guests and the fact that the staff are no agency staff and are instead full time employees means they have a good team
spirit and they know their residents well.
Dalemain has a homely feel to it and when you visit you don't feel like you're in a facility but more like a shared house.
The building itself is a converted Victorian house, which has both good and not-so-good aspects. It's good in that it feels more familiar and less institutional, but it does lack some of the facilities and structure that a purpose built building would have. The staff cope well with the building though and we don't find any real issue with it as it is.
We feel comfortable with our relative being there and we're always made to feel very welcome when we visit.

My mum, who has mixed dementia, moved into this care home two years ago during a very difficult time for us both. I could no longer manage her needs at home, and the transition was a huge shock. She was very unsettled at first, but the staff were incredibly patient, kind, and understanding, helping
her settle and feel welcome.
The home has a genuine warmth and feels just like that - a home. The staff know the residents so well and truly care about their happiness and wellbeing. Communication with families is excellent, and any concerns are dealt with quickly and professionally.
Watching dementia change my once clever, happy mum has been heartbreaking, and there have been times I've felt overwhelmed. The staff have not only cared for her with compassion and dignity but have also supported and reassured me.
I would highly recommend this home to anyone facing the difficult decision of placing a loved one into care. It is a wonderful place run by people who truly care.

my dad has live at Dalemain House for 4 years. It is a homely and friendly environment, where you can drop in at any time, My dad is bed bound and the level of care given to him is exceptional. The level of cleanliness is apparent as soon as you walk in as it always smells fresh and homely. It is
rare to find such a home as many I have visited are large cold and uninviting. Nothing i too much trouble and the management and staff will adapt as much as possible to accommodate my Dads needs and requests. They have a huge amount of patience with him.

As a granddaughter, it gives me enormous peace of mind knowing my grandmother is in such safe, caring hands. From the very first day, the staff have treated her with genuine kindness, patience, and dignity, and that means the world to our family.
The carers go above and beyond to make residents
feel comfortable, valued, and truly at home. They take the time to get to know each individual, not just their care needs but who they are as people. My grandmother is always well cared for, clean, comfortable, and supported, and it's clear she feels respected and listened to.

Once upon a time, we needed a place for our Mum after she'd had rehab for a fall. It was clear she wasn't safe to live in her own place, but we were worried that she'd end up either in somewhere that was all glossy but cold......or somewhere that residents were basically left to sit around in a
large room and sleep.
We were recommended Dalemain by a nurse...... we were told she would trust her own mum there.
And she was right.
It may not be glossy, not shiny, not applauded as 'excellent' by the regulators (what DO they count as 'quality' anyway?) What it is, is loving, homely, safe and stimulating for the residents who want to get involved. It's where I would want to go.
The staff treated my mum as part of the Dalemain family all the way to the end. We will never forget the genuine compassion and love they had for her.

From the minute we walked through the door we loved it.
No smell of urine, just the lunch cooking and it smelt good.
The staff welcomed us warmly, introducing themselves calmly. The residents all appeared calm and well groomed.
The building itself is stunning and has retained a lot of it's
original features.
My husbands room is plenty for his needs and from our first visit, to actually moving in, they had made little changes to make it more homely for my husband.
He has settled really well and i can now relax knowing he is warm, safe and well cared for.

My mother lived at Dalemain House for 3 and a half years. She was always very happy there and frequently said that moving in there was one of the best things she ever did. At first, she didn't need much care, but for the last year of her life, as her dementia worsened, she needed help with
everything. Towards the end, her behaviour could be challenging, but she was always treated with respect and kindness. My niece and nephews were there 24/7 at Dalemain in the last few days of her life, and they commented on the genuine affection that the staff had for her. As a relative, I never had any major concerns during her time there, but any minor issues were always dealt with promptly. I would recommend Dalemain to anyone looking for a down to earth care home with genuinely caring staff.

My father has been a resident in the home for six years, throughout this time he has received, constant care and attention, all with kindness and affection. If he hadn’t been living here I don’t think he would be with us at ninety-four years of age.
