View Full Details of WealstoneAlmost immediately after my mother-in-law was admitted to Wealstone, we knew she was in good hands. Her room was spacious, well-equipped and always kept clean and tidy. The staff didn't just look after her, they clearly liked her, which counts for a lot. They were also always welcoming to family and other visitors. She repeatedly told us she felt safe there, which was so important to her and of course to us. We were especially grateful for how sensitively and kindly you took care of her during her final illness. You contributed so much to her exceptionally peaceful departure. Thank you!
My mum spent the last year of her life at Wealstone and I'm so glad she did, mainly due to the excellent staff. They treat the residents with such love and care: cuddling them if they need comforting; having a laugh joke and dance with them and generally treating them like they would their own family I was made to feel so welcome when visiting and will miss everybody there.
Wealstone has been a port in the storm for us as my mother's health took a sharp decline towards the end of August 2024. Every member of your care team we encountered at all levels has shown nothings but kindness, professionalism and unwavering dedication to every aspect of my mother's health and well being. Whilst she lived at Wealstone my mother used to say "Are you going to put in an old folks' home?" - as if it were something to be dreaded and endured like a prison. We would say to her, "Your are in one now!" She was so surprised because her experience at Wealstone was one of feeling safe, respected and deeply cared for. Clearly it was nothing like she had expected. We will not forget you. We will always remember what you did for my mother, especially in the last weeks of her life. You carried her with dignity into her final rest. Only special people do this.
I have always been very impressed with the level of care shown by the staff and management at Wealstone Care Home, Chester. My aunt has been a resident in their dementia unit for almost a year and over that time she has been treated with dignity, care and understanding. Recently, there has been a noticeable progression of her dementia and I have been really impressed at their proactive approach to dealing with her increasing needs. The home itself is clean and maintained to a really high level, there are daily activities throughout the week and visits to attractions in the local area.
So glad that my Grandma got to come here! I felt so safe knowing she was here. The staff were all lovely and took really good care of her. The management inspired so much confidence in me that my Grandma was in the best possible place. Her room was lovely, and they were able to take care of her right till the very end. They were very gentle with both us and her around the time of her passing. You could tell the staff really connected with their residents; one of them was with my Grandma at the very end, and I am so grateful to her for that. I would really recommend the home. That's exactly what it was, by the way - a real home! My Grandma, who unfortunately suffered from dementia, would often ask if she was going to be taken away to a facility. She was always relieved to know that she wouldn't have to leave the lovely place she was in. The staff were able to take quite an accurate reading of her health and warn us when they thought her time was coming to a close.
It means the world to us that my mother-in-law is treated so well and with such kindness. its also good to know we can talk to the staff at any time should we need to.
We find the staff very friendly and caring our sister loves it here and is very happy, there is a nice warm feeling as soon as you walk into Wealstone.
The new Manager and her staff have given my sister in law (who has vascular dementia) genuine care as well as lots of smiles and hand holding to such an extent that she is "happy" to be there - unlike her last respite care home - which she thought was a plush hotel since her April 2025 admission. The staff always make you welcome and you can tell that their smiles and hand holding with the residents are genuine and that they treat your loved one with respect and kindness The new Managers hands on approach to running the home is a delight to see and her staff embrace it and the residents benefit from it. The Manager acquired medical treatment for my sister in law at the Countess hospital that has removed our concerns about her overall well being We feel that if my sister in law was to become a long term resident at Wealstone that it would be a perfect caring environment of round care and we have no problem in recommending this home to anyone looking for it's type of service
Wealstone Care Home is a lovely place. My dad has really settled in very well and is very happy, all the staff are really helpful and very kind to my dad and I would recommend it to anyone. They take him out for the day which he loves he’s been to the zoo and today he’s gone out to the pub for his lunch and on Saturday he’s going to see children singing.
My mother was on end-of-life care. The staff took excellent care of her, liaising professionally with paramedics, district nurses and doctors. Mum was treated with dignity, respect and compassion. The staff went out of their way to support me through a difficult time. I was impressed with the dedication of every single staff member and would like them to know how much I appreciate their efforts to make Mum and me feel as comfortable as possible! I couldn't have wished for a higher standard of care.
This care home is excellent. The staff are informative and caring and I feel at ease with them all. They have been wonderful with my husband and he has settled here straight away.
My mum-in-law is well looked after and her needs are met by caring and committed staff. When we leave her, we feel that she is as safe as she can be and is better looked after now she is in a care home, surrounded by staff who understand her needs. Staff always update us of anything that has changed and fully involve us with her care routine. We feel staff know our mum very well and treat her with kindness giving the level of care that is needed. If any issues arise, it is discussed and sorted out quickly. The GP sorted out her medication and is aware if there are any changes promptly. The food is good and have seen, first-hand, tea parties and celebrations set up for all the residents, entertainment with sing-alongs etc. The management is very switched on and knows the residents well and it appears good handover at shift times works well. My worry was that my mum-in-law would find it hard to settle but after a couple of weeks, she was fine. Can recommend Wealstone without hesitation.
The care and support my mother receives is always kind, and caring, she is much healthier and happier at Wealstone than she was in the last couple of months at home. In October she turned 100 and everyone at the home went out of their way to make this a special occasion for Mum, her relatives and friends. With balloons, flowers, cards, a party and entertainment which was all open to everyone. We'd like to thank each and every member of staff.
Our mother went into Wealstone straight from a stay in hospital following a nasty fall. She suffers with dementia so initially she was extremely agitated and as a family we found it hard to deal with when visiting her. However, from the start the staff were caring and understanding, not only to our mother but to us as a family. Nothing was too much trouble. We also realised Mum was now in a safe environment which put our minds at rest. Unfortunately Mum was moved from Wealstone into a nursing home when she became very poorly. Our thanks go to all staff at Wealstone for helping us along a difficult journey.
I find everyone extremely helpful, courteous and caring.
All of the staff at Wealstone have treated my mother (97), at all times, with respect and dignity yet always with a cheerful and pleasant demeanour. The very nature of the job that carers do means that they are often undertaking very personal tasks but they are always very professional in the way that they go about their work. She has been in Wealstone since the summer of 2022 and in that time has made a number of good friendships with both the staff and other residents. The food has been excellent and my mother has received excellent assistance at meal times as and when needed. This includes having meals in her room if she doesn't feel like going to the dining room. My mother was poorly for a couple of weeks that required hospital admittance but even then the staff were checking up on her and arranged for her to come back to the home when she could be discharged. The main thing, having asked her the direct question, is that my mother is very happy there.
We have the staff at Wealstone to be very professional and caring at all times enabling Mum to live a safe and happy life during her time there. Always quick to respond to medical matters and obviously care a great deal for the residents.
Wealstone Manor is a lovely place for my grandad. I'm very happy with the staff and support. I would recommend Wealstone to others. Thank you everyone at Wealstone for looking after my grandad.
My mother-in-law was welcomed into Wealstone care home in January 2023 after a long battle with the local authorities to get her into residential care. She has mid-stage vascular dementia and was no longer able to live in her own home for safety reasons. We received a home visit from both the residential and dementia care managers prior to visiting Wealstone ourselves. On first impressions, the rooms are a little tired but are extremely clean and warm. Please don't let the decor put you off. The staff are wonderful and willing to help in any way to make the residents feel safe and cared for. The keywords here are being cared for! They willingly take time to chat, rectify or reassure family members on anything no matter how small. She has been in Wealstone for 6 weeks and refers to it as her home! She never mentions her old apartment or the friends left as she has new ones! Meals are excellent and she is now getting involved in activities and enjoying days out. Just wonderful!
My review is for respite only so I have limited knowledge of activities, facilities and food but I was able to enter and see rooms. My first impressions were good and made to feel welcome when dropping a person with dementia off, which continued throughout the stay. The staff worked as a team and I observed a genuine interest in the well-being and care of residents. A real home from home environment, residents were settled and happy.
