View Full Details of Whetstone HeyGood caring staff, food is to high standards. Large variety of meals, freshly prepared on site. Very clean and tidy, lovely clean and tidy place. Dog is dog-friendly which is nice for visitors. Lots of activities all week for residents to enjoy.
My mum has now been a resident here for coming up to three years. From the outset our family has been most impressed with the standard of care and cleanliness at the Home. The staff are very friendly and approachable. I have found that nothing is too much trouble for them even though I realise there are a lot of time pressures with their jobs. My mum is also happy there; she does grumble at times but that is a result of the problems of old age, it is nothing the staff have done even if she may cause them to sometimes think otherwise. She particularly enjoys some of the entertainment put on for them, such as exercises, quizzes and singing. Overall, my experience of Whetstone Hey is a positive one and it most reassuring to know that she is in such capable hands now that due to old age she can no longer look after herself and requires 24/7 care.
My husband has been a resident since November 2023. He has dementia. It was very very difficult for him to begin with, and heart breaking for me, but he has settled in now, and is he is happy to join in with the activities and likes to sing. I have always found the staff polite, cheerful and when I visit which is twice a week from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm I am made very welcome and feel 'at home'.
My initial thought once my husband had to go into care was filled with trepidation. After meeting with the manager and staff, I was reassured this transition, although daunting was in the best interest of my husband. Since moving into the home, I feel much more content and relaxed that the care mu husband receives is second to none. The home is always spotless, staff are friendly and welcoming and will go above and beyond to meet my husbands needs. I feel reassured of each time I leave, knowing he is in good hands.
My mother has received lots of support at Whetstone Hey. The staff are very friendly towards my mother and my sisters. The manager is very visible around the residential home. She has spent a lot of time decorating the home, painting, hanging wallpaper. The furniture is modern and stylish. The manager is very hands-on with the residents and is a positive, happy-go-lucky person all the time. The kitchen staff are very flexible regarding the menu. Mum feels it is home from home. As a family, we all feel they enable Mum to live her best life.
My mother was resident at this care home for 6 months. Many of the staff there were lovely but a few were not. We were disappointed to find on numerous occasions family members were having to clean Mum and take her to the bathroom as she was soiled. Mum refused to mix with residents (not the home's fault) but her room was tiny and depressing so when we visited the visit would be in her room which only had the chair Mum sat in. Staff run off their feet frequently.
Throughout the years my Grandma has been in Whetstone Hey, it has been amazing to see how much her health has improved and how happy and well cared for she is. She always has a smile on her face when we go to visit her. The care has been excellent!
Whetstone Hey provides excellent care for my Grandma. The staff are caring, considerate and patient, at all times. We feel comfortable and are reassured in knowing that our relative is well looked after and safe.
Mum has been cared for within our home over the last fourteen years. It was with great reluctance from both Mum and the family that the time had come for Mum to go into care as she needed 24/7 care. Whetstone Hey has more than met our expectations, the management and staff have shown their care, respect and devotion to not just my mum but I have witnessed this throughout the home when they are with other residents. I would like to say a big thank you.
My mother settled in very well and this was due to the staff who always treat her with consideration and dignity. She has made friends here and is encouraged to mix. The food is excellent and she has now become a healthy weight, which is monitored regularly by the staff. The staff communicate well, interested in any concerns or queries. The home is well managed.
When Mum first went into the home, it was a very challenging time. I felt the organisation could have been better but eventually, we did manage to settle Mum in. Mum is very happy in the home and the staff are excellent and very caring. I do think that the decor and facilities are in need of upgrading and Mum has moved into a refurbished room but we do think that this could be done better. We are happy with the care Mum is getting and we are communicated to well about Mum's ailments and , as stated before, she is happy which is the main thing.
Always receive a warm welcome from staff who are always ready to help in any situation. My sister is well cared for and safe and is happy in her surroundings. The food is good and varied. The laundry service is excellent.
My mum went to Whetstone Hey in June, on respite, having trouble with her knees. After two weeks of care there, she loved it that much and decided she would like to stay. All of the staff are outstanding and nothing is too much trouble to do anything for the residents. The food looks delicious and with a different choice to eat. Mum is very happy and there. I know they have activities in the week, but there could be more activities to do morning/afternoon, but other than this, I cannot fault the home.
The staff make this home, they are so caring and will go the extra mile for the residents. They try different things to tempt Mum to eat. They work so hard doing extra shifts as they really need more staff. Management are great, even doing their own share of resident care.
I could not be more happy with the care home we chose for my Dad. It is clean and bright, the care workers are friendly, cheerful and very supportive both to the residents and their relatives. We were very lucky that there was a vacancy when we needed it and I only wish that there were more places like this for all people across the UK.
1) Asked for a shower - nobody arrived, this occurred on two occasions. 2) On arrival, was told mum would have to have a risk assessment on taking her medicine, it never happened. 3) The commode wasn't emptied and bed not made. Carpet not clean and smelt of urine. 4) Room not cleaned whilst mum was in. 5) Food was very good. 6) Staff need more training.
Contacted the home for a visit to see the facilities and meet some of the staff. Very impressed with the care home - clean, bright and nicely decorated. We were invited to stay for tea and sample of meal - freshly cooked and tasty. In the event, we decided this was the home her dad and the moving in process was very straight forward. We think our dad will be happy here, the staff are very caring and make time to chat.
