View Full Details of Westwood Residential Care HomeMy mum has been in this residential care home for approximately 16 months now and has settled in well. The home is always warm and clean. The beds are changed regularly and the floors are mopped thoroughly. Her room seem to be spotless. She is kept clean and tidy. The staff are attentive, caring and always happy to have a laugh and joke with mum. She always praises the staff and says "nothing is too much trouble for them". The meals are home cooked and there is a different choice every day. Mum enjoys the various different activities everyday, she always participates in them - she seems to win a lot at bingo! Something she never played before going into the home.! A possible baking session in the future was mentioned which i know mum would like. The staff have taken her out in a wheelchair which she enjoyed.
My father came to Westwood care home as a resident on the 11th May 2023 after being discharged from hospital. My father was in a very poor state of health and mobility but at this present time he has come on leaps and bounds. I put his present condition down to the dedication and care of the staff at Westwood. Westwood is clean, tidy, and well maintained. All these attributes are at a good high standard. Dad to me is happy, clean and well looked after, he has good food and enjoys playing the piano, this makes myself and the family happy, he's comfortable and happy.
Westwood is a homely, friendly, comfortable residential home. My mum is very comfortable there, she always appears clean in her appearance, well nourished and is treated with dignity and respect, and is happy there. The staff work very hard and are always friendly and polite and willing to help There are plenty of activities on a daily basis which mum can participate in she so wishes. Food is of a very good standard and mum is always given a choice and enjoys the food served to her. The environment is kept clean and tidy.
The care given to my mum is and always has been very good.
Very poor experience overall; concerns are being dismissed, any feedback is met with hostility and inadequate conduct. We have experienced a very poor standard of care, poor communication, threatening behaviour.
I am so impressed with this care home. All staff are very friendly and welcoming. Clean, homely, warm and happy home. It was a joy to see my mother-in-law laughing and joining in the activities. Can't recommend enough. Two members of staff in particular are so welcoming and appear to be so warm and caring about the residents.
By far the most recommended care home in the area. It is very well established and has a reputation for being the best. My dad is so happy and every member of staff is amazingly dedicated to caring and it shows by the atmosphere every time I visit. They go above and beyond with the residents and are always organising treats and events to keep the residents happy and loved. When my dad first had to go into care, I was devastated and it was a whole new world to me but I can truly say that they have helped so much with my dad's wellbeing and it is a very happy loving home. I cannot thank the amazing staff enough.
Mum has been happy since she moved in also we have peace of mind knowing she is being looked after well. The staff are great and helpful. Nice place to live for all residents. Friendly and always smiling.
Mum is well looked after both physically and mentally. She talks about the caring staff and how lucky she is to be at Westwood. The staff are friendly and supportive of the residents. They care and interactions I have witnessed are positive.
As Westwood is a small home, all the staff know the residents extremely well and have a great understanding of the needs of each individual resident. Mum is well cared for and when I can’t visit, she says “You know I am very happy here”. It is so reassuring to know that Mum is so well looked after by a team of caring and helpful staff. Thank you all so much.
Mum has been in Westwood Residential Care Home for two months after dislocating her shoulder. She is happy and content and says they are not her carers but her friends. The food is excellent and nicely presented. She will be very happy to stay there. They treat everybody with respect and nothing is too much trouble.
Our wonderful Mum was a resident for 13 months from April 2022 until Mum's very peaceful passing on 3rd May 2023. The care and love she received from everyone involved was second to none. Mum loved being part of the Westwood care and considered them all her extended family and although she did have her particularly favourite carers, she got amazing love attention and understanding from them all. We would highly recommend this home to anyone seeking great 24-hour care for their loved ones.
Our family were delighted with the excellent care Dad received at Westwood Residential Care Home. Dad was a temporary stay following a fall, and he is now back at home. Westwood feels like home, and the staff are like family. A credit to all who make this such a special place.
The staff are amazing, always jolly and respectful. Nothing is too much trouble, they are both caring and professional. Mum is clearly a happier person at this fantastically run home. The managers are very approachable and answered all our concerns with honesty. I would thoroughly recommend Westwood Residential Care Home. Many thanks to all the staff for looking after my mum so well.
My mum has settled in very well at Westwood and says she is happy and given every consideration by the lovely staff. She particularly enjoys the lovely home-cooked food and having new friends. The staff are very obliging and on hand to answer any questions or concerns.
My mother has settled in very well and is happy and well looked after due to the great staff at Westwood. Couldn't recommend highly enough. Top class establishment.
Westwood has been the home from home for one of our closest friends for a number of years now. We are truly overjoyed with the compassionate and outstanding care that our friend receives on a daily basis from the staff and from the owners and manager at Westwood. Westwood is owned and managed by a truly wonderful family; the family are completely compassionate and meticulous in their approach to caring not only for the residents but also in caring for the residents’ families and friends – that is us. We live in New Zealand at present (but we are from Lancashire) and are really made to feel so welcome by the staff and owners. My Mum also lived at Westwood, so we have known the staff over a period of three years. The owners and the Manager have a wonderful way of making us and our friend feel part of the Westwood Community on all occasions. The owners and the Manager treat us all with exemplary compassion. The staff members at Westwood offer some of the best care I have seen.
My mum has been a resident of Westwood for 18 months. When I looked for care homes, I visited eleven but when I entered Westwood, I was struck by the friendliness of the staff and the fact that a lot of staff had been there for a number of years. It may not be the most swish building or the most up to date décor, but that is more than made up for by the welcome and homely feel. Mum's needs are quite substantial but this has never been a problem. She is always happy, clean, tidy and well fed. The food is all homecooked and varied. Regular entertainment is provided and they often have singers or choirs and pre-Covid, had visits from the local nursery. I ring each day to see how she is and never feel like this is too much trouble for the staff. I visit regularly and have been exceptionally grateful that during the pandemic, we have continued to be allowed to visit in a pod. Westwood, for my mum, is home from home and she regards it as such. I have total peace of mind that she is OK there.
It is quite difficult to put into words how incredible Westwood have been with my Grandma and especially during the pandemic. Gran is always clean, hair tidy and looks really well cared for. The staff are excellent at providing her with everything she needs and wants as she has limited movement. The food always looks (and smells) yummy. At present, we are not allowed in due to the pandemic, but Westwood have done everything possible to accommodate visiting whilst protecting themselves and the residents. From socially distanced meetings in the garden during summer, to a secure pod in the conservatory during winter. The staff have been very helpful and friendly during my daily check-in calls and are always happy to take the phone to Gran so we can speak. Before the pandemic, I used to visit regularly and Westwood is always safe, clean, tidy and staff well presented. Gran's room is spacious to accommodate mobility equipment and the bed regularly changed. Cannot recommend enough.
This is aimed at acknowledging the staff, residents and family members for what they have collectively achieved, not only from the start of the pandemic but in the months before, when my aunt moved into the care of the home. Searching for a suitable establishment is without a doubt stressful, Westwood became our place of choice. The fact that they have long-serving members of staff dedicated to the care and wellbeing of residents was evident from the outset. The original owner is also a resident, with his daughters now running the business, which speaks volumes, but standards are not just high because of that. Everyone is treated with dignity and respect. What the home has managed to do during the pandemic, keeping everyone safe, has been outstanding, during such a difficult time. Seasonal activities to simulate the residents continued without the direct help from family members. Every opportunity to arrange safe visiting was explored, including the introduction of the “Pod" so well done.
