View Full Details of Chapel Garth EMI Residential HomeOn arrival the home looks very outdated from the outside. Inside is still outdated too and repairs still have not been attended to. This is unfair on the staff and also poor hygiene control with no running hot water for staff & visitors. I have a lot of respect for the staff as it is not easy. At times personal care is not as it should be , We understand there are staff shortages but personal care is paramount. The staff are fabulous and are trying their best with limited resources in the home. The food always looks nice and smells lovely. Mum has no complaints with this and has a varied good diet. Activities are varied in and around the home to suit one's need but it would be nice to see the residents going out on short day trips. Families may be able to help with this. You are straight there putting the fees up yet Mum's room as never been attended to since becoming a resident in 2018 and has been reported many times.
Initial observations show that the building is tired and in need or some repair and tlc. However, the care team are amazing. The care, support and dignity the care team show and give is second to none. The friendship and support is also extended to myself and other family members. The food always looks amazing and is a mix of traditional and seasonal. Entertainment is organised as best as possible and is always suitable to residents needs and capabilities. A social media Page keeps me updated with up coming events, photos of my mum enjoying in house and external organised entertainment and other general information. Regular updates with mums care plan keeps me involved too.
Staff are very friendly to my mother and all her family been very supportive to myself when mam got nasty with and talk to me about her condition Mam seem very happy here and is well looked after each day
My experience ie second to none very caring ,fun and the residents are very well looked after the food is amazing the residents are always clean taken to the bathroom regularly, they are always entertaining them in different ways taking them out doing crafty things having hair doe regularly and a chiropodist reguler
All the staff are so Lovely and caring with all the residents. The Home activities are really good. Residents are supervised and accompanied outside to the park or shops on occasion. Lovely home cooked food provided.
My mum is well cared for and happy at Chapel Garth. The staff are most accommodating and always available to answer any concerns and rectify any issues as and when they come up. The home is clean, comfortable and well maintained. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a supportive place for a loved one.
My mum is currently at the home and the staff are brilliant and do their best although there is not enough of them. I have every respect for the job they do. I understand that since Covid it's harder for the home to recruit. The home itself is very outdated and requires a complete revamp. There is no garden to speak of and when you drive up the place looks miserable with peeling paint and foliage growing out of the gutters. They do run family days but they are always during the week and mid day. It would be nice for these to take place on a weekend so those that do work could attend."
My father has been at Chapel Care Home since August 2024. I can honestly say from the moment we walk through the door myself and my Father were made welcome. The Staff make sure he is clean and presentable. He is fed exceptionally well with home cooked meals daily, they keep him motivated with all the Activities they do. Couldn't recomend this place enough.
The staff are friendly and caring and have helped our mother to settle in. The management has been very understanding when problems have occurred.
We have used Chapel Garth eight times in the last 9 months and on each occasion found the staff and management to be excellent. My mother is treated with kindness, the staff are friendly and she is treated with care and dignity, the facilities are good, as is the cleanliness, the range of activities are interesting and stimulating. The meals and drinks are good and I am pleased with the safety and security. My opinion is that the value for money is good and I will certainly want to use Chapel Garth again to look after my mother.
I always find the home very clean and friendly. Mum always looks well cared for e.g. always clean and generally well groomed. The staff are all very caring and friendly. Mum never shows any signs of distress and always tells me how much she is well looked after.
The care home manager is excellent and all the staff I have had the pleasure of meeting are wonderful. The home is friendly and caring towards the residents and the visitors, nothing is too much trouble. Plenty of activities for the residents and regular tea and biscuit breaks. Rooms are clean and always secure when empty. The lounge area is very spacious with a TV and is the central point and always a hive of activity. Overall, I'm very pleased with every aspect.
A very nice place, lovely staff. My mother likes it very much, she said she would like to stay again.
Accommodation is excellent, all staff are friendly and very helpful. My sister has settled into how comfortable room and always comments on the enjoyable meals she is provided with. All safety aspects during the present covid times we are going through have been carried out. The activities provided for the residents are appreciated and enjoyed.
Due to Covid we haven't actually been inside but my mother has been in several care homes for respite care and this is the only one where she hasn't come back a little distressed.
Chapel Garth is very homely. Staff are "amazing". Great range of activities. Excellent home-cooked food. A very big "thank you" to you all, it has not been easy over the past year, each and every one of you are "amazing".
My grandmother is very well looked after, all her needs are met and she has plenty of activities and stimulation to help her keep active.
My mother has been in Chapel Garth for 6 years. We have had our ups and downs as can be expected, but on the whole, mum has been happy there. The entertainment staff are wonderful. I have always found the staff to be approachable and the manager has always been sympathetic and helpful.
As my wife has only recently become a resident of the above care home it is difficult to make comments! I can say this, however, what I have seen so far on my daily visit to my wife - is compassion - kindness - caring - consideration from all members of staff who have a most difficult job to do!
Care staff take wheelchair-bound residents to local shops and area to give them a change of scenery. Security of Chapel Garth is good, rooms locked when not occupied, the main door secure. Garden area supervised when residents use it. Frequent tea and treats for residents throughout the day. Television sound turned down but subtitles on, films benefit all residents. A quiet area by the main door and corner of the main area benefits visitors talking to their resident relatives/friends. Care staff on hand to assist residents mobility at all times.
