My mum is well cared for and happy at Chapel Garth. The staff are most accommodating and always available to answer any concerns and rectify any issues as and when they come up. The home is clean, comfortable and well maintained.

I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a supportive place

or a loved one.

My mum is currently at the home and the staff are brilliant and do their best although there is not enough of them. I have every respect for the job they do. I understand that since Covid it's harder for the home to recruit.
The home itself is very outdated and requires a complete revamp. There is
no garden to speak of and when you drive up the place looks miserable with peeling paint and foliage growing out of the gutters.
They do run family days but they are always during the week and mid day. It would be nice for these to take place on a weekend so those that do work could attend."

The home is very outdated. Needs updating to look like a home. The food looks excellent. Most of the staff are quite pleasant. Mum is looked after in the best way possible. The owner needs to concentrate on refurbishments and not just the individuals money.
Reply from Joanne Murray, Operations Director at Chapel Garth EMI Residential Home

My father has been at Chapel Care Home since August 2024. I can honestly say from the moment we walk through the door myself and my Father were made welcome. The Staff make sure he is clean and presentable. He is fed exceptionally well with home cooked meals daily, they keep him motivated with all the
Activities they do. Couldn't recomend this place enough.

We have used Chapel Garth eight times in the last 9 months and on each occasion found the staff and management to be excellent. My mother is treated with kindness, the staff are friendly and she is treated with care and dignity, the facilities are good, as is the cleanliness, the range of activities
are interesting and stimulating. The meals and drinks are good and I am pleased with the safety and security. My opinion is that the value for money is good and I will certainly want to use Chapel Garth again to look after my mother.

The care home manager is excellent and all the staff I have had the pleasure of meeting are wonderful.
The home is friendly and caring towards the residents and the visitors, nothing is too much trouble.
Plenty of activities for the residents and regular tea and biscuit breaks.
Rooms are clean and
always secure when empty. The lounge area is very spacious with a TV and is the central point and always a hive of activity.
Overall, I'm very pleased with every aspect.

As my wife has only recently become a resident of the above care home it is difficult to make comments! I can say this, however, what I have seen so far on my daily visit to my wife - is compassion - kindness - caring - consideration from all members of staff who have a most difficult job to do!

Care staff take wheelchair-bound residents to local shops and area to give them a change of scenery.
Security of Chapel Garth is good, rooms locked when not occupied, the main door secure. Garden area supervised when residents use it. Frequent tea and treats for residents throughout the day. Television
sound turned down but subtitles on, films benefit all residents.
A quiet area by the main door and corner of the main area benefits visitors talking to their resident relatives/friends. Care staff on hand to assist residents mobility at all times.

New flooring in the lounge a vast improvement to old carpet making area safer for residents. Easier to keep clean for staff. Furniture in lounge good quality easy to keep clean, seating always available for visitors in both main lounge and quiet area towards the garden. Entertainment during the afternoon
and visited, very good with plenty of reaction from residents. Care staff always on hand to assist and comfort residents when required. Although residents are a mix of active and needing assistance in mobility all are treated well.

From our first visit, my husband and I were impressed by both the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness. My sister was quite ill when admitted, although her brain was very sharp. On three occasions, she had ti visit the hospital but at all times, she was treated by staff with kindness and dignity.
The
manager runs a first class establishment and her staff helped us through the last difficult months of my sister's life.
I am very grateful to them all.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.404)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.404) out of 10 for Chapel Garth EMI Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.504 for Chapel Garth EMI Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (78 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 119 Ratings = 4.504
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chapel Garth EMI Residential Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
