My husband is in the care home. When you have a concern it is dealt with by the manager immediately. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The manager has made so much improvement over the last two months. She is approachable and willing to give the time.
The door is always open just walk in and
she will listen to your concerns. I make's a huge effort to get it sorted. Nothing is too much trouble

Moss Cottage Nursing Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mum moved into Moss Cottage in March 2026 following a couple of months in hospital after a number of falls whilst living in her previous residential home.
Mum is 97 this year, so the change has been a little overwhelming, but she has eventually settled & that is down to the staff, they all go
above and beyond to care for Mum.
Mum comments how nice the staff are on a regular basis when they walk past us in the Lounge.
The food is brilliant, Mum is on a pureed diet due to a stroke last year but still manages to have a variety of different meals/desserts/snacks.
My only negative comment would be the lack of daily activities - the previous home Mum was in had a weekly timetable visible showing a morning and afternoon activity being held each day - this is missed.

** Keep up the great care Moss Cottage **

Chapel Garth EMI Residential Home

from N B (Wife of Resident) published on 2 June 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
After a difficult period at another care home from where he was discharged Chapel Garth agreed to accept him. It took time for him to settle, the staff were very supportive and patient.
The home would benefit from updating and modernisation, but the main criteria is the compassionate carers and their
patience in dealing with often challenging situations on sometimes a daily basis.
The residents would enjoy being taken out whenever possible, perhaps taking turns with the ones who seem to regularly go out.

Moss Cottage Nursing Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum has now been at Moss Cottage for 1.5 years nearly. She is extremely well cared for. All her needs are met. She is very well liked and the staff genuinely speak of her in a loving way. She had skin problems when she went in but her skin is very well hygienically looked after. She is always lovely
and clean. The staff work so hard. The staff are a lovely bunch of ladies and gents. The new manager has made improvements to how building looks both externally and internally. Fresh table settings, flowers outside, making it more welcoming. The home isn't a very modern building, but it is kept very clean, and things are slowly being replaced and repaired to make it fresher and brighter. Overall a very trustworthy place for your loved ones to be. I wouldn't want my mum anywhere else. The cooks, the carers, lovely receptionist, new manager everyone who works there, do their very best to love and care for the residents. Problems resolved as soon as they appear if necessary. Mums content.

Excellent and friendly staff. Look after all the residents well and have different activities daily. The Food is freshly cooked, very nutritious and a good variety.
The outside spaces could really do with an update and garden furniture and grass area really needs attending to also. A caring care
home, my husband came for respite first, then settled in when it was time for full time care I had no hesitation in placing him here.

I cannot praise the staff at Nelson Manor highly enough. Their care for my Dad was wonderful and their support to me was equally good. Everyone is so pleasant, friendly, helpful and approachable at every level of staff. In addition the home is very professionally managed and well run in all areas,
including administration, laundry, catering, cleaning. It was a huge relief knowing Dad was being well looked after by knowledgeable, caring and well trained staff. They kept me informed at all times and explained clearly what they were doing in terms of his care and why it was necessary. It was reassuring to see the same staff who knew Dad personally, rather than a constantly changing team. A named nurse was assigned to Dad and she and her colleagues provided excellent care. The end of life care given to Dad and us as a family was all we could ever have wished for. I highly recommend Nelson Manor as a first class home and one where I would be more than happy to be a resident.

The Home is always very clean and tidy, i ve always found the clients bathroom to be clean with plenty of towels, I have noticed over the last few months lots of different staff, some with very limited experience, this is only my observation, the meals I have seen always look good and tasty, the staff
are always pleasant when I ve been and are very approachable, I have popped in the day room and I am always happy to see them all enjoying daytime activities.
