Brother has settled in very well. I have a lot of confidence in most of the staff who take the time to learn a residents needs, likes and dislikes. I know they are very busy but 1 or 2 carers need to improve their listening skills, which would help especially with residents who struggle with words.
Staying silent while a resident gets the words together would give residents confidence to ask for help if needed.
Overall everything is great, there really are some lovely people who work there and I applaud their patience, effort and fun they bring to the care home. Thank you

I would recommend this care home. The staff are hardworking, kind and helpful. The home is always spotlessly clean. They take good care of my father , he has been with them for over two years and we are very happy with the care provided.

I cannot praise the staff at Nelson Manor highly enough. Their care for my Dad was wonderful and their support to me was equally good. Everyone is so pleasant, friendly, helpful and approachable at every level of staff. In addition the home is very professionally managed and well run in all areas,
including administration, laundry, catering, cleaning. It was a huge relief knowing Dad was being well looked after by knowledgeable, caring and well trained staff. They kept me informed at all times and explained clearly what they were doing in terms of his care and why it was necessary. It was reassuring to see the same staff who knew Dad personally, rather than a constantly changing team. A named nurse was assigned to Dad and she and her colleagues provided excellent care. The end of life care given to Dad and us as a family was all we could ever have wished for. I highly recommend Nelson Manor as a first class home and one where I would be more than happy to be a resident.

The Home is always very clean and tidy, i ve always found the clients bathroom to be clean with plenty of towels, I have noticed over the last few months lots of different staff, some with very limited experience, this is only my observation, the meals I have seen always look good and tasty, the staff
are always pleasant when I ve been and are very approachable, I have popped in the day room and I am always happy to see them all enjoying daytime activities.

I would like to say a huge thank you to every single member of staff who help care for my mum.

To the nurses, carers, cleaners, cooks, and laundry staff - thank you for everything you do.Your kindness, patience, and hard work never goes unnoticed. You don't just do your jobs; you treat my mum with

dignity, compassion, and respect every single day.

Knowing she is surrounded by people who genuinely care means the world to me and my dad. The comfort, warmth, and support you give her will never be forgotten.

We are truly grateful for the dedication and care you show to all the residents. You make such a difference in people's lives.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to each and everyone of you, we love you

Mum has been at Nelson Manor for 4 weeks she has been made very welcome by the jubilee unit . We are very happy with the standard of care . Particularly the level of communication with us by staff . As we live a long way away this has been exemplary keeping us informed on how mum has settled. The social
media page has also been a great help to us so we can see mum taking part in things.

My husband,a resident at Marsden Manor, recently had an appointment at Burnley General hospital . He needs an ambulance to accommodate his stretcher, said vehicle came and he left home at 12/30 for a 2/30 appointment. After the consultation the ambulance was again booked and came at 5pm. It seemed
as if we were having a tour around Lancashire as it was as 7pm when we returned to the Manor. The staff were waiting for him, they were genuinely concerned about how he had coped, they got him into bed, had a warm drink waiting for him and food. You would have thought they were looking after their beloved father and that's what's good about the Manor the care the staff give your relative the best

From the first telephone call, to visiting and subsequently my Dad transfering from hospital to Nelson Manor, as a family we were shown nothing but kindness, professionalism and care that went way beyond our expectations.
The management team are superb and this transfers to the staff. The atmosphere
is calm and welcoming. The residents are clearly happy. We are so grateful to you all for making our Dad's time with you as comfortable and dignified as possible. Nelson Manor is a very special place.

My mum feels safe here and on the whole the nursing home is good. However, the activities, I feel is the weakest point of this home. Most of my mum's interactions are through family and friends visits. My mum loves to craft but in the 6 months she has been in the home, she has done no craft.
Reply from Olivia Entwistle, Manager at Nelson Manor Care CentreThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're really pleased to hear that your mum feels safe and well cared for - that means a lot to us. We also appreciate your honest comments about our activities programme. From our first visit to have a look around the home to the management staff overseeing my mother's arrival from a previous care home it's been first class.
There has been a remarkable change in my mother's health and wellbeing which the staff and facilities have had a big influence on.
After my mother's
accident we all had reservations on whether she would ever return home but with the care and physiotherapy she's received in the last month we are extremely optimistic that she will return home before to long.
Thank you to all the staff at Nelson Manor

My friend was made welcome right from the first day. She has settled quickly and is content. I believe this is because of the care she has received from all the staff. She is well fed and her clothes are kept clean as well as her room. It is the staff however who make the difference, they do
a difficult job with real concern, compassion, patience and plenty of fun.
I always like to visit because I feel welcome. It seems a happy place to live and to work. I would definitely recommend it to family and friends.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.626)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.626) out of 10 for Nelson Manor Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.626 for Nelson Manor Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (244 Excellents x 5) + (101 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 361 Ratings = 4.626
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Nelson Manor Care Centre is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
