Overall Experience
If only every care home was as amazing as Nelson Manor.
My grandmother has now been here for nearly 3 years. They are simply fantastic!
The staff and management truly care for their residents and their families. They advocate their patients' best interests in a warm, homely environment. Residents enjoy lots of social activities at the hard work of the entertainment team. Nutrition and fluid intake is closely monitored by all staff, continuously encouraging fluids which is very important to people like my grandmother who suffers from dementia.
The nursing team are on the ball, they know their residents well and recognise any change, identifying the cause and ensuring prompt treatment.
The care my grandmother has received has been amazing, we really couldn't ask for more. All the staff have such a passion for their work and are a credit to themselves and Nelson Manor.
The cleaning and laundry team are great too!

I highly recommend Nelson Manor care home.

Overall Experience
I cannot sing the praises of Nelson Manor enough, each and every aspect of this facility deserves a five-star rating. Externally the location and setting, internally the layout fixtures and fittings, the accommodation rooms, the relaxation, resource and dining rooms everything is very extremely clean and well maintained first class.
This is a new modern and bright facility and even though it is a three-storey building, accessibility to all levels is easy and unrestricted being serviced by two large lifts and a wide staircase.
A good quality care facility, however, is not much good without the staff and people who work and provide care in it. Whilst everything else about Nelson Manor is top quality, the staff here are in a different league. At all levels, these people are gold medallists’ they work extremely hard, they are professional and it is plain to see, they really do genuinely care.

A very sincere, thank you for all you have done and are still doing for my family.

Nelson Manor staff are very friendly and respectful of all the residents, making sure all there needs are meet. My mother and father have been here for several years, and as far as I am concerned the home is going from strength to strength in a well organized manner, but still keeping a friendly atmosphere.

I never thought my mum, who’s 68, would need care but she did. What a great team of managers, nurses and staff who worked with my mum and us as a family and finally 8 months later with the Governance Manager's help, we got mum back home and can’t thank them enough. So yes, this home is fantastic and I would recommend it.

Nelson Manor provides a friendly, safe and caring environment for my step-mother, the staff are approachable and kind while remaining professional as they do what has to be done.
I was impressed by the facilities when I had a tour and know that the quizzes and visits of local school children are enjoyed by the residents.

The rooms are a tiny bit spartan for practicality but personal items and furniture make them feel like home.

Overall Experience
It sets my mind at rest that my relative is being cared for at Nelson Manor.
I know she is safe, well cared for and treated as an individual by the staff on the residential floor. Care has been professional and responsive with prompt referrals to Drs, District Nurses and other healthcare professionals when necessary.
I have never dealt with a relative in residential care before and have been taken aback by the caring attitude of the staff, they go above and beyond what I would have expected. All staff have been friendly and welcoming and I have no trouble getting updates from them.
I have found it easy to deal with the home in terms of obtaining a room, to dealing with financial matters, admin and management are organised and efficient.

It is lovely to see my relative enjoying things again whether that be food, company or activities.

I have found the staff very good. They are kind and caring for Mum. There is always someone to talk to if they are needed. They keep me informed about Mum's care. If I have needed to talk to the management they have always listened to me. I would recommend Nelson Manor to anyone needing a good care home. Just one little negative, some people spend a long time visiting relatives, being offered a drink sometimes is a nice gesture.

Overall Experience

My mother became a resident of Nelson Manor on 20.12.19. Throughout her time there she has been treated with dignity, compassion and respect. The staff are all excellent in their treatment of all the residents. Nothing is too much trouble and they always have a smile and warm greeting for my Mum and all her family and friends when they are visiting. Nelson Manor is warm and welcoming from the moment you walk through the door. Everyone is treated as an individual with their own needs being met in a professional but friendly manner. Nelson Manor has many activities for those who are able to participate - quizzes, crafts, visiting singers, school etc. I cannot fault Nelson Manor and would recommend this care centre to anyone. Keep up the excellent work.

My brother has been a resident in the Nursing Unit for six months. He receives excellent care from the nurses and the care staff. He is treated with love, compassion, respect and dignity. His needs are promptly and carefully anticipated. Every effort is made by everyone to improve his quality of life. The manager is very professional and cares deeply about her residents. She has taken time to get to know my brother, and I have every confidence that she will always do her best to ensure his needs are appropriately met. Nelson Manor is a warm and friendly environment. All the staff contribute to this. Family members and friends are known and made to feel very welcome. I have no doubt that Nelson Manor is the best place for my brother. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Very good care and attention to my mother overall.
She suffers from dementia and on the second floor.

Our only not so positive comment is the hairdressing. Mother's hair is not well looked after, in spite of the regular payments made for this service.

Overall Experience

My experience with my mum's care is mostly good, it's clean, tidy, the staff are friendly and helpful. It's the small things that matter, like teeth not soaked overnight., her hair not brushed, clothes going missing with her name on them, putting the mat down when in her room. She goes to the bathroom, no one is there to keep an eye on her - it's written on a wall chart, what Mum needs. She misses out on some of the activities. I come 5 times a week. She does scream or shout, she likes a bit of peace. The small lunge is full and noisy. Do not put Mum in the big lounge.
