My brother moved to Moss Cottage about a year ago and the experience has been very satisfactory to date. He is eating and drinking much better than previously in my opinion. The carers who are effectively his social life are attentive, entertaining and painstaking and I'm grateful for that. The nursing
care is adequately monitoring his state and have on several occasions moved him to hospital when his health gave grounds for concern so overall I am very satisfied.

My mum has been a resident at Moss Cottage, for about 9 months. She seems very happy there, the staff look after her needs, with care and compassion. Mum loves to chat with the carers, and sing along to the music and entertainment.

My mum has been resident at Moss Cottage since January 2025. The staff are really caring and mum has settled in really well. The food provided is excellent. 3 meals a day with lots of variety and choice. The home is cosy and there is always a relaxed feel in the day room. It is more like a living room.
All the residents look happy and well cared for. My mum is kept safe and well. There are nurses in site too for emergencies.
My mum has a lovely room that is kept clean and fresh. All her clothes are laundered and well kept. The cooks do an amazing job daily providing lovely meals.
My mum is settled and I feel confident she is cared for very well.
I am happy that she is happy there and feel assured of her care. The management and staff all seem very happy to be working there which is also a good sign. There is good staff morale.
The home lovely. Snacks are provided in between meals and there is a lovely lady who is employed to chat and engage with residents for wellbeing.

My mother was a resident at Moss Cottage for 9 weeks and she received palliative care during this time. The staff's care was personal to us and second to none. They treated her with dignity, compassion, care and love. The day of her passing was without a doubt very traumatic for my family and the support
and love we received will never be forgotten. From start to finish, they could not do enough. When the ambulance came to take our mother away, they all stood in line and gave their respect to her. Myself and my family will never forget the care she received. With fondest love and regards to all the staff.

The care was good, the food always looked good and was always presented lovely and hot despite my husband being on a pureed diet. I joked it was like Masterchef. The entertainment looked good from what I saw my husband didn't really participate (his choice) as he was happy in his room watching TV.
All
staff from what I witnessed and overheard genuinely cared about the residents. The Laundry was washed well. I did have a couple of things go missing but I guess in a home it's to be expected occasionally due to the quantity of washing they have and I wouldn't let that deter me or anyone from this home as I had much worse in a different home. It's never easy having someone in care but if I ever had the need to use a care/nursing home again I wouldn't hesitate on using this home. They really do go above and beyond on all levels so thank you to each and every member of the staff. You're a credit to the home.

Moss Cottage is a lovely home. My aunt has been there for around nine months and is so well cared for. All staff members are lovely, they're so caring and helpful and they all seem to know my aunt well. The home itself is clean and welcoming. There seem to be lots of activities. And the food always
looks great.

My Mum spent over five years at Moss Cottage. The care Mum received was exceptional. The Home is very comfortable and the staff are friendly and very caring. Mum sadly passed away in December and the care and compassion shown to me and my family was wonderful! The staff really care.
I would recommend
Moss Cottage to anyone looking for a safe and caring home for their loved ones.

My Mum went into Moss Cottage in October 2022 and has recently passed away. The care she received during her short stay was superb. The management and staff cared for her as they would for their own family and nothing was too much trouble.

My uncle had only been at Moss Cottage for a month when it was his 100th birthday. The staff made it such a magical and wonderful day for him. There was a lovely buffet, cake, beautiful balloons and the mayoress came to congratulate him. It was so lovely that they had taken the time and effort to arrange
this for him. I personally will remember the day for a long time.

Our mum was admitted as an emergency in January 2021. Her needs were quite complex, she had been cared for at home, however her care package had been insufficient and she had deteriorated. At Moss Cottage our mum received the highest standard of nursing and care. The empathy, kindness and care bestowed
upon our mum during her stay was truly amazing. She passed away on the 22nd March, very peacefully with family by her side. The management and staff were extremely accommodating to us, allowing us to come and go at all times. I couldn’t possibly mention each member of staff, but the nurses, activities and carers were fantastic. There’s a diverse bunch of lovely kind people that work there and they make Moss Cottage a happy home. The outside of Moss Cottage looks a bit shabby chic! Do not be put off! The inside is lovely. We regret that our mum wasn’t admitted earlier. Thanks to the nurse and staff on duty the night she passed away, thanks to all of you. You’re amazing!

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.196)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.196) out of 10 for Moss Cottage Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.714 for Moss Cottage Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.714
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.482 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moss Cottage Nursing Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.8 = 0.882
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
