View Full Details of HallamshireAs soon as I visited Hallamshire Care Home for the inspection tour, I could tell that this home was different from all my other visits, I was not wrong. Apart from being a beautiful building with lovely gardens, the home was spacious, well decorated, clean, all the essential facilities, well equiped carpeted rooms for the residents and with a lovely smell of home cooking. I have joined my wife on several occasions for a meal and both myself and my wife have thoroughly enjoyed all the meals served. For me the home has ticked every box, including the activities which are twice a day, seven days a week and are very varied, but the most important point for me are the staff. Every one of the staff are professional, expert in their own field, pleasant and always smiling, compassionate, hardworking and nothing is too much trouble for them. Not only do they look after my wife but they also have been a great help to me as this has been the hardest decision in my life.
My mum has recently moved into Hallamshire Care Home after living on her own with Alzheimer's disease for 2 to 3 years. Mum got to the stage in her illness where family support and Carer's helping out 4 times per day was no longer practical or safe, and her quality of life had deteriorated significantly. Unfortunately, we were at the point where the illness was winning and it wasn't going to be beaten. Everyone at the care home has made mum and her visitors feel really welcome from the first day. I'm sure this is why she is so much less anxious and confused, and it's obvious that she also feels safe and comfortable. Moving into this care home has improved mums quality of life so much. The illness won't go away, but the calm environment and great staff have made life so much easier for everyone involved in her care, despite the challenges she faces.
The service of the care home is as much as could want and the team are always willing to hold the hone for me to speak with my mother (as I live some distance from the care home). In addition the care home is receptive to my occasional visits. My mother (who is now immobile and limited in her interactive abilities) seems very well cared for.
My lovely husband had Alzheimer's and by January 2024. It was clear that I could not continue to look after him well at home despite my best efforts. He suffered from anxiety and was displaying crazy, unpredictable behaviour. My daughter researched care homes in Sheffield as she could see we were both heading into unstable and scary waters. We were so fortunate that the Hallamshire care home was able to offer him a place in late January 2024. From day one of entering the home he relaxed as though the weight of the world had fallen from his shoulders. He really enjoyed being looked after by the staff who were unfailingly kind to him and the crazy behaviour he had been exhibiting disappeared completely. We were able to enjoy many of the activities the home staff arranged. During the 13 months he was there until his death on 2 March, which was calm and peaceful he was treated with respect and kindness and humour!
I am very pleased with the standard of care given to my father. All staff are friendly and it is clear that they care for the residents, are interested in each person and want to give high quality care. Activities are varied and interesting and designed to include everyone and their individual interests - there are also lots of trips out. Rooms and other facilities are clean and well-ordered, garden nicely kept, rooms are comfortable with good quality furniture - feels very warm and homely. Communication between myself and staff is very good and I am kept informed in a timely manner of any health concerns. I am always made to feel welcome and the coffee/tea area for visitors is really appreciated.
My husband has been a resident at the Hallamshire Care Home for 5 months and was attending weekly as a day patient for 6 months before that. He has advanced Alzheimer's and can no longer do anything independently. The staff are brilliant and always upbeat. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They also provide a wide range of stimulating activities and outings for the residents and opportunities for relatives to meet others e.g. the monthly afternoon teas. There is a very warm, welcoming atmosphere and I would highly recommend it.
They get almost everything right and where there is a little glitch they do everything they can to put it right. It's not nice when someone you love has Alzheimer's but I am convinced that my husband is in safe and caring hands. He is treated with respect by all the staff and they try hard to ensure that he doesn't deteriorate as quickly as this dreadful disease would like.
The care that my brother received until he passed away in October was excellent and far exceeds any other care home that I have had relatives in. There are plenty of activities to keep everyone stimulated, including many that the relatives can join in with. Each and everyone of the staff, management, carers, cleaners and handyman are all so friendly, welcoming and caring. Their response to my brother's needs was outstanding and we were always kept informed in a timely manner. The whole environment was pleasant, well-maintained, and very clean. My brother was looked after with compassion, empathy, dignity and respect during his time there and at the end of his life, he couldn't have been taken care of in a better place. His last few days were spent in a calm, peaceful, safe environment. This is much more than just a care home but a real home for the residents who live there. We would like to thank all the staff for the care my brother received, we are so grateful to them.
Exceptional levels of care, kindness and all round friendly staff and management. My dad was a resident at the Hallamshire Care Home from October 2023 until he passed away peacefully in August this year and during his stay nothing was ever too much trouble. There were always plenty of staff available when you needed them and so much effort was put into keeping the residents active, happy and fulfilled. The Hallamshire feels more like a home rather than Care Home, it always felt welcoming when visiting, so refreshing and totally different from other homes that dad had been in previously. As a family, we can't begin to thank the staff who looked after dad with such warmth and care during his final days and for that we are eternally grateful. In short, you won't find a better care home with such wonderful staff in the area.
Both of my parents have been residents in the Hallamshire Care Home since the beginning of August, and as a family, we could not be happier with the care they are provided. The residents' rooms are comfortable and clean, as are the communal spaces such as the lounges and dining rooms. Mum and Dad have enjoyed the regular programme of activities, suitable for different abilities, such as chair exercises, singing, games, and trips out. The care is personalised, and Mum and Dad's individual needs are met appropriately. We can see a definite improvement in Mum and Dad's wellbeing since they moved in. Management and staff are professional and friendly and always make you feel welcome. We would not hesitate to recommend this home.
I am very grateful for the care provided to my mum in her last year of life, which she spent at the Hallamshire. She was treated with care, warmth and dignity. It's a spacious, clean and well-managed home with beautiful gardens. Staff in activities made a conscious effort to include her and I am full of heartfelt thanks for her time there.
My husband has been a resident at Hallamshire Care Home for 3 months. The management and staff are amazing. Kind, caring, friendly and fun. Also proactive on the medical side when things go wrong. The residents are treated with dignity, respect and love. Visitors are welcomed and never made to feel in the way. The home is clean and well-maintained. Activities are many and varied and for those able to participate offer stimulation and fun. I am happy knowing my husband is getting the care and attention he needs.
Lovely 'restaurant experience' event for my mother. My partner and I joined her in a restaurant-type experience. She is non-verbal with very progressive dementia. However, I felt this was a really valuable experience for her. It was very imaginative and typical of the Hallamshire amazing care team to dream up something like this!
All staff and management are caring and approachable. I visit the care home most days to visit my Dad the care home is always clean and well-run. The staff and management are professional and at the same time empathic and sensitive to our needs! I can say with confidence that I'm very happy with my dad's care!
The Hallamshire Care Home looked after for my mum for around 4 years, at a very difficult time for her and us. Mum was always very well looked after, and the staff clearly cared for and about her. They were also very caring about her family's needs, including being innovative around visiting during the most difficult Covid times. There was always lots going on at the Hallamshire, including events that we could take part in with Mum, as well as daily activities that she was encouraged to take part in. If she wanted private time, that was always possible, whilst making sure that her needs were always provided for. The menu was varied with excellent food, and birthday parties were a great event, with cake and entertainment to suit. The team (everyone) were outstanding throughout her stay at the home, we would not have been able to manage without them. They were fantastic. We can't recommend them highly enough.
Whilst visiting my aunt at Hallamshire, I am always greeted by friendly staff and happy residents. Placing a loved one into a care home is always difficult and I know my mother found it very hard but the staff at Hallamshire made the process simple and it went smoothly. Would highly recommend.
I visit my friend often, she is always involved in activities that she loves. The home is of very high standards the resident's rooms are spotless the home is clean and tidy always. The meals are very good all home-cooked residents really enjoy their meals My friend loves to go out to parks to look at the different flowers and enjoy the view. The staff are loving friendly and very caring and treat the residents as a family it just is one happy family home loved by everyone I would highly recommend The Hallamshire for their care.
My dad was a resident at Hallamshire for just over 18 months and it was the best move we could have possibly made for him. From the moment we entered the building, we knew it was the place for us. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, the place was spotless, but most strikingly, compared with other homes we'd visited, all the residents were out of their rooms and involved in engaging and fun activities. Dad was so happy at Hallamshire, and felt loved and cared for. The staff are wonderful and gave Dad attention, fun and kindness. He loved them to bits. The social programme at Hallamshire is second to none- every day there are two different activities and each week, there is a fantastic variety of really interesting and engaging activities including exercise classes, musical performances, trips out, and visits from pets and nursery children. The catering staff are working too and Dad enjoyed his meals. Overall, I would highly recommend Hallamshire to anyone.
A very welcoming and friendly home with a sense of being part of a big family. My mother has improved in mood and general mental activity since being at Hallamshire. In addition, the physical activities have helped with overall mobility. Visiting is made easy and it has been great to be included in activities both in the home and outside. Staff are always caring and conscientious.
My dad is very happy living at the Hallamshire Care Home. He is safe, secure and happy which makes his children very happy. After a poor experience with a different care home, we feel he is in the best place.
