My husband has been a resident at Glen Rosa, Ilkley since April this year and my overall impression is how kind and caring all the staff are. They joke with him and always have a word for him in passing. He is in Kitwood and especially enjoys the railway carriage and going on train journeys. He also enjoys watching sport on the large tablet. The music therapy is also much appreciated. He seems contented and settled and enjoys frequent visits from our family and grandchildren who live opposite Glen Rosa and the children are always welcomed by the staff, as am I. As I live very close by too, I can enjoy quality time most days so think I would know if he was unhappy. He also enjoys the food which seems to be very good, if rather on the sweet side! He is treated with dignity and kindness, and I am very happy with the care he is receiving.
Dad settled in surprisingly quickly at Glen Rosa which came as a huge relief to the family as he was always adamant he would not go into residential care. He's been a resident for almost 3 years now and we've never looked back. The staff retention is excellent. Most of the staff have been there many years and they have built up a very good rapport with Dad who enjoys the banter and attention. Dad can, on occasions, be a little tetchy if he's not feeling 100% but the staff have got to know him so well that they know exactly what to do in those situations, which is very reassuring. The staff and management are all very approachable, professional and totally "on the ball". The home is spotless and the en-suite bedrooms are of a high standard. Meals are made from scratch. There is a good choice, including a vegetarian option and it all looks very appetising. There's always something going on in terms of activities and various groups visiting to entertain the residents. Highly recommended!
I have nothing but praise for the care that my husband is receiving from Glen Rosa. From the day he was admitted the staff have shown care, respect and friendliness. He is settling in well and has quickly gained trust in the staff.
My husband moved into Glen Rosa 4 months ago following a discharge from St James hospital. All of his care and the dealings that all members of our family have had when visiting have been first class. He is very content living there; which in turn makes us feel content about his welfare.
My Dad has been in Glen Rosa for over 4 years now and during that time the care and respect he has received has been exemplary. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and their caring commitment towards the residents (and vistors too) - there is always a friendly atmosphere and the staff are both approachable and helpful. The food has always been enjoyed very much by my Dad and what I've seen of it looks very nice. The facilities too are to my mind first class, particularly the 'quiet lounge' which I recently discovered & which is a lovely room, decorated & furnished to be calm & relaxing. Overall, I would not want my Dad to be anywhere else than Glen Rosa - I know that I can rely on him being looked after with dignity, respect and professionalism to the highest possible standard.
My sister lived in Glen Rosa for about 3 years until she passed away. I have been very impressed by the patience and efficiency of the staff. All residents are treated with dignity and more than that, with tender loving care.
The main element is the feeling that my father is cared about. Everyone including management, maintenance, carers, cleaners and laundry ladies seem to care. Whilst the building is old and in need of some TLC, steps are being taken to improve this.
The team in Kitwood, Glen Rosa, are exceptionally kind and caring towards my aunt. They understand her as an individual and appreciate her personality, drivers and triggers. The atmosphere is respectful and calm, with stimulation provided through regular activities and interactions with staff. Having the opportunity to spend time outside in the garden, when the weather allows, feels very important. My aunt's room is kept very clean, her clothes are regularly laundered and meal times offer alternatives to suit different appetites. I find that communication is generally really good, and have peace of mind that any issues will be highlighted and acted upon.
Caring, helpful and thoughtful staff, who look after Mum very well. I am usually kept well informed about any significant changes with Mum and feel confident that she is receiving really good care. Whenever I visit the staff are very friendly and welcoming.
My mum has lived at Glen Rosa for three years. She continues to enjoy life there and has made many friends both residents and carers. A lot of the carers have been there since her arrival so know her well. There are activities provided for the residents to join in with should they wish to and my mum is always the one getting up to dance! I would recommend Glen Rosa to anyone seeking care for an elderly relative, it has a warm and homely feel to it. The food is also excellent.
My mother passed away in Glen Rosa after nearly six years in residence with excellent care to the very end. The kindness and understanding shown to both my mother and myself, made her loss more bearable as all the staff cared for us like one big family.
My friend has been a resident at Glen Rosa for 18 months and has settled happily. I have always found the staff to be friendly, professional and helpful and feel very happy that my friend is safe and well cared for. There are a lot of varied activities and trips out and Glen Rosa has a lovely homely atmosphere with beautiful views of the garden and moors beyond. Meals are prepared freshly, on-site and menus vary. I would be extremely happy to recommend Glen Rosa.
My parents moved into Glen Rosa a couple of months ago after much research, several viewings and a lot of soul-searching. The first thing I noticed on viewing Glen Rosa was how attentive and kind the staff are. My opinion hasn't changed apart from the fact that my respect for the staff has grown. The rooms are pleasant and kept lovely and clean. The only downside I have is a personal one and I would prefer the lounge seating to be in small groups round coffee tables as opposed to round the edge of the room. That being said, my parents seem to have settled in faster than I expected and are well cared for and happy. What more can I ask?
An excellent home with dedicated and caring staff, who go above and beyond. I wouldn't want my mother to be anywhere else.
Glen Rosa is an excellent residential care home with a very nice and homely feel to it and the care staff have a respectful approach to residents. Excellent entertainment organised by the activity staff member with a nice balance of musical performances, games, exercises and memory enhancement activities. Music therapy for residents with dementia is good. Staff are approachable and helpful and is responding to the family.
My father was a resident for only six months before he died. He had a wonderful experience surrounded by caring, compassionate staff. I cannot stress highly enough what a family Glen Rosa is. From the first contact with the administration manager, I felt that nothing was too much trouble for the team. They were all welcoming and inclusive. My dad had so much fun and enjoyment in his final months. The end-of-life care he received was very special, and I will forever be grateful that I found this wonderful home for him. I cannot recommend it enough.
My mother moved into Glen Rosa over 4 years ago; was mostly located in Kitwood because of her dementia and she died very recently aged 96. I am writing this review because I feel the need to publically express my sincere thanks to the wonderful people who have looked after her. I was able to visit regularly and witnessed first-hand the care and attention that my mother and all residents receive. One of the main objectives is to ensure that residents are stimulated and there are always activities arranged to keep residents occupied and entertained. Music therapy is something that was very beneficial for my mother. The staff are very caring and diligent as they have to be for people in later life. When matters arise causing concern, for example, health issues, the staff react very positively and keep relatives well informed. I spent a long time looking for a care home for my mother and have never had any regrets about the choice of Glen Rosa.
Glen Rosa has looked after my mother for two years. She has dementia, and Glen Rosa staff have always treated her with great dignity and respect, even when some of her worries and problems have been demanding for them. They are full of humanity, patience and decency. There are lots of well-organised activities, put together by an outstanding organiser with a great gift for knowing what residents will like. There are games of all kinds, a journal residents can share with relatives, music therapy and other rewarding activities. Glen Rosa coped easily with my mother having her own telephone installed in her room and having a newspaper delivered daily, which must have been extra trouble for the office staff. The night staff are diligent and caring and will ring me the next morning if there has been a health problem, even a small thing. And the day staff are excellent too.
Glen Rosa is a well-run, friendly home where my mother feels safe which is important when suffering from Alzheimer's. The home is clean and well-kept, it doesn't have that whiff that a lot of homes do when you first go in. Without exception, the staff are polite and friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble. The food looks and smells good and it was no problem catering for Mum who is vegetarian. For those that can partake there are regular activities with visits for entertainment - even a small donkey recently called in! Many of the rooms are currently being refurbished which meant having to change Mum into a different room - we were consulted about this to make sure we were happy for it to happen. Regular visits from a hairdresser and other personal care practitioners are available when needed.
My mum-in-law could no longer cope on her own during the lockdown and was welcomed by the amazing staff and residents at Glen Rosa. She settled quickly and loved having the care of staff and the company of new friends. Her room was bright with a view of the moors. She started eating properly again. As her dementia got worse she started spending time in Kitwood and now has a lovely en suite room there. I cannot fault the care. We live a long way away and are kept up to date with calls from her main carer between our visits. Kitwood welcomes visitors. We can see the care offered to all the residents when we're there. There's always lots going on. She loves the music therapy sessions! It's hard to fault anything really!
