The Management and staff at Summerfield House made the whole process very simple, they are very welcoming and helpful. We feel it is a safe environment for our loved one and it's always a pleasure to visit.

My husband had a stroke 14 years ago. The stroke caused him to lose his speech and his ability to walk, he uses an electric wheelchair. He was recently diagnosed with Alzheimers and vascular dementia. He's also doubley incontinent.
He goes to Summerfield twice a week to give me a break.
All the
staff are so very caring and respectful towards us both. They look after him with positivity and kindness. I can relax knowing he is very well looked after.
He doesn't use a room so I can't comment on that.

I am very grateful that within a few short weeks of mums arrival, Summerfield had mum looking like her old self, I haven't personally sampled the food but I can see the positive effect it has had on mum.
The residence is spotlessly clean in all areas.
I always have a cheery welcome from staff on
my visits.
From what I have seen all are treated with respect and the atmosphere is a happy one.
I have not yet joined in with activities but I know there are plenty on offer and mum enjoys the exercise and music sessions and visits from local churches.

My mum has been a permanent resident at Summerfield for the last 8 months and throughout she has been looked after with care and compassion. The staff are all professional and really friendly and welcome family and friend visitors at all times. All the food is prepared on the premises and again to a
high standard.
The standards of cleanliness are excellent. Care is also taken to ensure that there are leisure and entertainment activities bringing fun and variation to each day.
Summerfield has a homely feel to it and myself and family are confident that mum is safe and well cared for at a time in her life when she needs residential care.

I have nothing but praise and thanks for the staff and management of Summerfield. Dad's in a great place and I'm so happy he's being looked after in such a lovely, caring place. The staff go above and beyond to make a home for dad and the residents, feel like a real home.
Special mention to Lee
and Angela, good people.
Billing and payment is straight forward.
Couldn't be happier.

Mum been in Summerfield since COVID and she settled immediately. Staff provide the care mum needs as her illness unfortunately progresses. They have a rather good activity calender which varies to suit every resident. Homely environment lovely gardens which my mum usually enjoys in summer.

Caring and friendly staff. Very clean. Lots of entertainment for residents.

Everyone connected to the running of the home has been extremely welcoming whenever a visit takes place. Each member of staff knows where your relative is situated whenever the visit takes place. Each day there is some activity provided to try to help keep the residents interested. The rooms are
always kept very clean and tidy.

I have not seen mum so happy for years-she smiles and laughs all the time. I asked her recently if she was glad she had moved in and she said that she couldn't have wished for anywhere better. She is safe, secure, content and very well cared for.
11 September 2025
When my Dad moved in he was immediately welcomed by several members of staff. Ever since, each time I have visited and seen an interaction between my Dad and a member of staff, Dad has been addressed by name and in a very friendly manner. I see that staff members are always jolly in their
approach, a style which Dad enjoys. Dad has settled in very well and I can see that he has all he needs.
Later in this questionnaire, I will give what seems to be a negative response to the question about activities. That's because Dad isn't a "joiner-in", so the activities are not something that interest him greatly.

My mum has been in Summerfield for nearly six years now. She is looked after in a homely environment by people who understand her dementia and look after her so well. The meals look and smell delicious.
There are also things going on to entertain the residents. Couldn't be happier.

My mother was a resident for 2 years at Summer Field and we found the home to be welcoming, clean, approachable and obliging. The staff were smart friendly, helpful and diligent. There is an outside garden area for people to relax in and the rooms were adequate + well serviced.
The kitchen provided
excellent home-cooked meals and the home when visited had a relaxed atmosphere, plenty of entertainment provided for residents and activities laid on for those able. I would happily recommend Summes Field to anyone looking for a secure home at competitive rates. Thank you to the whole team for their hard work.

The care staff are fantastic, not only with my mum but with me also. Some have really good banter with my mum which she loves. The home is lovely, there are 2 lounges, one quieter than the other if your family member wants some quiet time, plenty of dining room space and a beautiful garden.
The
meals are home made and plenty of variety. Very good kitchen staff.
Resident's private rooms are cleaned every day.

Summerfield Residential Home made the whole experience of moving in as stress free and welcoming as possible for us all. My mum settled in so quickly, joining in the activities and really flourished, back to her old self. We couldn't believe the difference in such a short time. After looking round
quite a few homes we really did make the right decision and that's reinforced every day with the care that my mum receives. Our aim was to find somewhere my mum would be safe and happy, but we got far more than that. Summerfield has a really homily feel, not just for the residents but the family and friends, always welcomed. Everyone is very friendly and approachable.

My Mum has been a resident at Summerfield Residential Home since March 2024. From the outset the staff have shown love, care and support both to Mum and also to us as a family, making the transition and stay as stress free as could be.
Sadly, my Mum began to decline in health a few weeks ago and
passed away a few days ago. During the last few weeks and final hours Mum was treated with dignity and respect and made as comfortable as possible. She was unable to leave her bed and was provided with a specialist mattress and frequently moved to prevent soreness. Staff also ensured she was checked in on and whenever we visited, it was clear that her sheets had been changed, labelled water provided and aids such as a specialist drinking cup.
Mum had good relationships with the staff, and they spoke of her fondly, relaying funny things she had said.
As a family we will always be grateful for the care she received at Summerfield and would highly recommend that they be recognised for the service they provide.

My mother has been in this home for almost three years now. From the very beginning it was obvious that the standard of care was very good. My mother became rejuvenated and her general health recovered. The staff are all attentive and caring but combine this with a friendly, fun attitude. There are
plenty of activities for my mother to enjoy should she wish including outings as well as indoor activities of various kinds. The wholesome home cooked food is also a feature here. Whenever we visit we are welcomed by staff and the residents treat the home as their home.
Overall the staff are outstanding in their care & kindness towards residents. The atmosphere is always friendly. This is a real family home.

My very elderly mum-in-law suddenly found herself unable to cope at home and was sorely in need of more company and a warm safe place to meet her needs. Our research led us to Summerfield Residential Home, which fortunately had a room and even offered to come out and bring my mum in law from her
home at very short notice. Once there, she settled in immediately and has had nothing but praise for the staff, the food and the level of care she is receiving. We fully expected the effect to wear off after a couple of weeks and that she would be asking to go home but that just hasn't happened, she loves the place. Having experienced three different care homes over the past five years, I am really impressed with the team at Summerfield, they obviously enjoy working there and it shows in the level of care and respect they show for their residents.

My sister-in-law has been a resident in Summerfield Residential Home for over 10 years and is extremely well looked after by friendly, caring and attentive staff who understand her personality and her needs.
I have always been made welcome on my visits there and also receive a friendly greeting
when I ring to speak with my sister-in-law.
On the odd occasion that I have had to raise concerns, they have been listened to and acted upon, which to me, is the sign of good management.

This home is one in a million, I was welcomed in to have a look round, to see if it would be suitable for my Mum. It most certainly was. The home feels like a home not a care home. The staff are fantastic, they are always so friendly and smiling not just with us, but the residents and each other.
There is a lovely atmosphere in the home, the lounges are nice and relaxing, with a calming beautiful garden.
We were always welcomed in whatever time of day we turned up, the Staff go above and beyond when it came to the residents, they were there for my sum when I couldn't be and I'll always be grateful. It's truly a gem of a place.

My Dad moved into Summerfield a few years ago and Mum and I soon realised that, although it was a huge change for us all, this was a safe and caring environment where he could be looked after by people who were used to dealing with dementia. Dad settled quickly and the staff have treated him with
respect and dignity from the beginning. The atmosphere is homely and comfortable rather than clinical and everyone is friendly and professional. It appears that the staff really do care about the residents and try to make their days a bit more varied with planned activities and visitors to entertain them. The food is varied and cooked on site and the home is accommodating and flexible around meal times. Sadly, Mum is no longer with us but I know that she would be happy to see that Dad is still being well cared for and we made the right decision placing him at Summerfield.
