View Full Details of Rievaulx House Care CentreIt was a very hard decision to admit that, I could no longer care for my husband who has Alzheimer's and he needed to move into a care home. He is being well cared for and the staff are lovely to him. He is not one to join in activities but he has formed a connection with a couple of the staff that share the same interests as him. This care home was recommended to me by a family member whose relative has been there for a few years. I would not hesitate to refer others to this home.
My Step-Dad's spent the past few years at Rievaulx House after a severe stroke during Covid, left him paralysed down his left side. Lack of physio due to Covid restrictions when in Hospital, didn't help matters. He relies on family & the lovely staff for most things. From day one, the team have shown kindness, patience & genuine care. The home's not the newest & his room feels a bit dark due to an outside wall, but the warmth, laughter & love from staff more than make up for it. We'd love for him to be nearer the garden one day, but they do keep his current room spotless & make him comfortable & always lift his spirits when he's feeling low or missing his son & daughter, who live very far away. The staff fill that gap with friendship & compassion, treating him with dignity & respect. We're so grateful for the activities, celebrations & newsletters, keeping us connected. Thanks Rievaulx House for everything - your kindness, patience & dedication mean the world to John's extended family.
The first thing I noticed was the absence of any underlying bad smells I associate with care homes. The staff are very friendly to both visitors and residents. My wife seems contented, well fed and clean. The staff are doing a fantastic job looking after her. Thank you.
After eight months of temporary care/rehab homes, extended hospital stays and viewing countless care homes - we were so relieved to finally find Rievaulx House. It really does feel like his new home. We've been able to personalise his room to his taste, and recently decorated it with balloons, banners, and cards for his birthday. The staff are caring, kind, and attentive, they do an excellent job ensuring everyone is safe, comfortable, and well looked after. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and there's always something going on. The events organiser, Maureen, is fantastic - my dad has a better social calendar than the rest of us! It's a real testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole team at Rievaulx House. I would highly recommend Rievaulx House to anyone looking for a residential dementia care home for their loved one. We're so grateful to have found such a lovely place where my dad now calls home.
My friends mother resides at the home. Unfortunately over the last year her eyesight has drastically deteriorated. The help, advice and support from one of the key workers made it so easy to access the charity for the blind to enable my friends mother to access, "audio talking books." Hopefully this will make the days more pleasant to listen to stories that she would have been able to read some time ago.
Very friendly staff look like they care a lot for their residents, and dealing with admin is easy. My Mum is not really settled, but thinks this is due to her and the dementia. Nice room with a lovely view of the garden, always clean, even though my mum keeps blocking the toilet, I feel the staff and maintenance people do their best.
My mum has been in Rievaulx House for over 7 years now, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. The care and consideration shown to her and to meet her needs is fantastic. They communicate really well and nothing seems too much trouble. I'm so grateful to all the staff there who have such a challenging job, especially upstairs in the dementia unit where my mum is. What a wonderful group of people! Thank you!
I have experience with Rievaulx House since 2021. In the first instance my Uncle with living there. I had had to move him from another care home so when he arrived due to his dementia he was unsettled and agitated. The staff were amazing, they cared for him, settled him down and in no time at all had him settled and laughing again. His health as well as his mental ability improved and he was so happy. Sadly he passed in February of this year. There was no hesitation when l asked if he could return from hospital to pass in his own environment and once again the staff were amazing, The love and the care they showed him was above and beyond and the love and support given to me was so appreciated at such a difficult time. At the same time as this was going on, my Auntie was having a number of falls so l asked if she could go in the first instance for respite. She loves it. She settled within day, has a lovely room loves her meals (she is now eating and putting on weight) and now staying.
We are very happy with the care Mum receives. The staff are just lovely with her and she is happy and settled which is of such importance to us. As Mum is now 100yrs old we feel we can rely on the extra special care she sometimes needs. It is good to note that she is encouraged to use her walker instead of relying on a wheelchair
The care home is very nice. The staff are brilliant with the residents and very friendly.
This is an amazing place for my lovely little grandad, he gets very well looked after and I couldn't be more happier! Also thank you to one member of staff, in particular, making sure he's always got his meds, the rooms are spacious and they've got beautiful garden for him to relax in.
Good home to leave my mother in the care of. Staff always helpful and friendly. Mum would probably benefit from more activities but appreciate all that you do for her. Occasionally found staffing a bit short which make it difficult to ensure a member of staff is present at all times but we have had no issues and understand it's very short periods. Generally very pleased with everything.
It took a while for my mother to settle in, but now she is very happy. She enjoys the food and activities and is always clean and well-kept. Staff are welcoming to visitors.
All of the staff have been incredible at looking after my grandma. They are very friendly, sociable, and caring and they even went above and beyond when I took my little boy to visit. A big Thank you!
Mum is always well cared for and happy. She joins in the activities and goes on trips for lunch. She calls the residents and staff her family. There is a lovely garden to sit in when the weather allows.
I would just like to say thank you to all the care staff and caterers. You all made my mum feel so very special, loved and wanted on her birthday. You always do but made her feel so very much loved. As a family we appreciate all the work you do and we would like to say thank you.
Staff very caring and attentive. Very approachable. They listen. I feel included when social events are happening.
My mother was a resident of Rievaulx House for over a year. Although she missed living in her own flat she settled in well and was very happy with the level of care that she received and the way she was treated. The carers and other support staff were very kind to her and she always enjoyed a joke with them. Initially, she was upstairs but we requested a move downstairs and she was happier as she could sit outside in the garden. She enjoyed doing the crafts with a particular member of staff who works very hard to entertain the residents. The lounge was always trimmed up to fit occasions and my mam appreciated this. As a family, we are very happy with the level of care and kindness that she received and we always found the staff nice and friendly when we visited. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rievaulx House to anybody who were looking for somewhere for a loved one to be looked after.
The manager and staff are and were very helpful when I asked them for something relating to my brother and my mum and another care home. They were very helpful.
Carers are lovely, residents love the staff and I think they are very welcoming. When I first came in, the lounge was sticky, it was cleaned up shortly after. I do understand the staff can be really busy but the lounge is very unclean. The resident's room is great, it's got everything he needs.
