Overall the standard is good.
Misplaced clothing is a concern.
Generally the staff are very good.
Christmas Day and Christmas activities were beautiful.
Due to shortage of staff, stimulation of residents is suffering.
However the entertainment is good.

My Auntie is in Rievaulx House and absolutely loves it. Her room is beautiful , the food is first class and the quality of care excellent.
They do different activities every day as well as having singers and children from local schools come in to visit the residents.
Christmas was lovely. Every day
some form of Christmas activity were available for those who wished to participate and Christmas Day its self was magical. I arrived to visit Auntie at 10.30 and things were already happening, the tables were being set , there was lots of staff working , who were all incredible jolly and all of the residents had present for the home as well as families arriving. The residents who didn't have families were all fully included and no one was sat alone or sad , the atmosphere was totally happy, joyous and " Christmassy".
If anyone is looking for a home for their loved one, and l know how hard this is as Auntie had no one else to find her care other than myself, call in and look around..

Fantastic staff, always pleasant and if not too busy will have a chat. My wife is well looked after, and all her needs are met, and accompanied with a smile. I am kept informed of her welfare and any changes that need to be made.
Thank you.

My Aunty is 98 in January and needs fully care 24hours. She's in a wheelchair and needs a hoist to get her in and out of a bed and chairs . The staff have great patience with her. All the staff we meet are truly helpful and nothing seems to much trouble.

My Mum has been a resident in Revaulx house for 21 months and I have the found the home exceptionally good for my Mums needs. The staff are very caring and deal with my Mums dementia very well as she initially she found it difficult to accept the change in a new enviroment.
Shelley the entertainments
coordinator has arranged trips out, coffee mornings, singalong activities within the home and more.
I have found the home is kept clean and tidy and always has a friendly atmosphere.

I feel mum is safe & looked after at the home. She moved from another home that had lots of activities but she was no longer able to afford the care home fees there & family were unable to afford the Top Up fees of £450/week ! Despite nothing like the number of activities at this home she doesn't seem
to mind as her short term memory is very poor. Mum has some behavioural problems such as refusing to move from her chair & refusing personal care at times & the staff deal with these issues in a caring way. It is very quiet where she is but for mum at 91 yrs she needs less activities & essentially palliative care. She did have a fall off the bed & bruised her head & I was informed immediately. She has an alarm system to inform staff if she is getting out of bed but they were unable to get there in time. She wasn't taken to hospital as previously we ( the consultant at the hospital & myself) had discussed it wasn't in her best interest to go to A & E & would only cause her distress.

When i came up from Plymouth to visit my aunt , Freda, she was sat in the lounge .It was very light and welcoming in there .
The staff were serving tea and cake to the residents ,and interacting with each one .It was done in a very friendly ,but profesional way .
I dont get up to see Freda as often
asI would like ,but if anything happens to Freda ,or she does something I need to know ,I get a phone call from the home to keep me informed .
I am very happy with the care Freda has ,and I know lately ,she has had a few issues with other residents ( such a shame ,as it is so out of character ) but the staff have dealt with it in a caring way ,and hopefully ,she will settle down again ,and be the lovely kind Aunt I remember .
Many Thanks to all the staff .

My mum was always vehemently against going into residential care but she really enjoys being a resident at Rievaulx House. The staff are always attentive, patient and considerate to my mum's needs. She has plenty of opportunities for interaction with either the staff or other residents. Her room is
always clean, the food options are varied and her clothing cleaned regularly.
Any issues regarding my mum's health are dealt with efficiently and quickly.
The building itself appears to be well maintained and secure.
From my personal perspective I find the care staff to be amazing. Always happy to stop and have a chat and also take care of any additional requests where possible. Special shout out to Evans who is very knowledgeable and approachable.

My mother has been a resident now for four months and feels safe and content in her new environment. The staff are friendly and attentive, and importantly to my mother the food is of a generally good quality. We have been able to decorate her room to make it feel like home and have been able to take
her out on little trips with the consent of the staff. Overall very pleased.

It was a very hard decision to admit that, I could no longer care for my husband who has Alzheimer's and he needed to move into a care home. He is being well cared for and the staff are lovely to him. He is not one to join in activities but he has formed a connection with a couple of the staff that
share the same interests as him. This care home was recommended to me by a family member whose relative has been there for a few years. I would not hesitate to refer others to this home.

My Step-Dad's spent the past few years at Rievaulx House after a severe stroke during Covid, left him paralysed down his left side. Lack of physio due to Covid restrictions when in Hospital, didn't help matters. He relies on family & the lovely staff for most things. From day one, the team have shown
kindness, patience & genuine care. The home's not the newest & his room feels a bit dark due to an outside wall, but the warmth, laughter & love from staff more than make up for it. We'd love for him to be nearer the garden one day, but they do keep his current room spotless & make him comfortable & always lift his spirits when he's feeling low or missing his son & daughter, who live very far away. The staff fill that gap with friendship & compassion, treating him with dignity & respect. We're so grateful for the activities, celebrations & newsletters, keeping us connected. Thanks Rievaulx House for everything - your kindness, patience & dedication mean the world to John's extended family.

After eight months of temporary care/rehab homes, extended hospital stays and viewing countless care homes - we were so relieved to finally find Rievaulx House.
It really does feel like his new home. We've been able to personalise his room to his taste, and recently decorated it with balloons, banners,
and cards for his birthday. The staff are caring, kind, and attentive, they do an excellent job ensuring everyone is safe, comfortable, and well looked after.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and there's always something going on. The events organiser, Maureen, is fantastic - my dad has a better social calendar than the rest of us! It's a real testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole team at Rievaulx House.
I would highly recommend Rievaulx House to anyone looking for a residential dementia care home for their loved one. We're so grateful to have found such a lovely place where my dad now calls home.

My friends mother resides at the home.
Unfortunately over the last year her eyesight has drastically deteriorated.
The help, advice and support from one of the key workers made it so easy to access the charity for the blind to enable my friends mother to access, "audio talking books."
Hopefully
this will make the days more pleasant to listen to stories that she would have been able to read some time ago.

Very friendly staff look like they care a lot for their residents, and dealing with admin is easy. My Mum is not really settled, but thinks this is due to her and the dementia. Nice room with a lovely view of the garden, always clean, even though my mum keeps blocking the toilet, I feel the staff
and maintenance people do their best.

My mum has been in Rievaulx House for over 7 years now, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. The care and consideration shown to her and to meet her needs is fantastic. They communicate really well and nothing seems too much trouble. I'm so grateful to all the staff there who have such a challenging
job, especially upstairs in the dementia unit where my mum is. What a wonderful group of people! Thank you!

We are very happy with the care Mum receives. The staff are just lovely with her and she is happy and settled which is of such importance to us.

As Mum is now 100yrs old we feel we can rely on the extra special care she sometimes needs. It is good to note that she is encouraged to use her walker

instead of relying on a wheelchair

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.616)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.616) out of 10 for Rievaulx House Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.616 for Rievaulx House Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (239 Excellents x 5) + (110 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 362 Ratings = 4.616
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rievaulx House Care Centre is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
