Overall Experience

My mum has been a resident at Rievaulx House since October 2020. During this time we couldn't be more delighted with the care she receives every day. She is very well looked after by the amazing team with every detail catered for, nothing is too much trouble. Communication with us is excellent, we have always been kept up to date with developments during the very challenging pandemic. Mum is very happy, she absolutely loves the home-cooked food and is very content in her day to day life, which we as a family are extremely grateful for. Her room is spacious, light and airy and the facilities, in general, are excellent. Each and every member of the care team we have met have shown kindness, professionalism and a genuine desire to make Mum's stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Someone recommended Rievaulx House to our family and we are very pleased they did, we can't recommend Rievaulx House highly enough.

My mum has been a resident at Rievaulx House since March 2020. This has been a very stressful time for all the family, it is comforting to know that Mum is safe and well looked after by all the staff. Video calls have helped ease our fears. Visits are now being allowed via the testing system, so we cannot wait to visit Mum in person.

I cannot thank the staff enough for the care they have given my mom during the time she has been with them (just over a year). They have treated her with dignity and nothing is too much trouble and I have been able to feel she is safe and secure during this Covid epidemic. I would recommend this care home 100%.

My father has been at Rievaulx House for 2.5 years. The staff and care have been excellent. He has a lovely sunny room, which is kept very clean. The home feels like a family, and all the staff are welcoming and friendly. The office door is always open, and open dialogue is encouraged so if there are any issues (health or otherwise) they are listened to and actioned quickly. I would highly recommend this caring home.

At last able to visit my aunty. Staff caring, helpful and very good. Everything well organised despite the situation we all find ourselves in. Aunty looked very well and comfy, even had a hair trim, well done by carers! Staff working brilliantly under current conditions and most helpful at all times. Covid protocol observed on outside visit with no problems.

All our family came to the Xmas Party and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff and residents all very welcoming. The ukelele player was an excellent choice, we sang and danced and mum danced for the first time in years.

Thank you.

Mum moved to Rievaulx House in September, she has settled well and is looked after well. Staff are friendly and always willing to help when asked. Mum seems happy and has started to make friends with the other residents.

One suggestion would be to have a keyworker assigned to each resident as at times, finding information out about appointments, physio etc can be difficult due to staff changing shifts. I would consider this to be a good care home.

I visited Rievaulz on Saturday 14th December to attend the Christmas party. My gran had only been a resident for a couple of weeks but the way she got on with staff and how warmly they treated her was lovely to see. She has always been fiercely independent and I never expected to see her willingly accept residential care but she is totally happy in her new home and is loving being looked after in such a lovely environment. Thank you.

The "Chef" does not stretch himself with the meals. They are bland and very repetitive. Elderly people need food which is nutritious, appetising and healthy which gives them all the vitamins they need to sustain a healthy life and digestive system. This is lacking somewhat at these premises. Therefore I suggest either a replacement chef or the existing one needs to be retrained on the nutritional value of serving food to the elderly.

I visit my sister and brother in law monthly, or more when possible. I am very happy with the quality of care given to each of them. They appear to be happy and settled in the home and this has to be due to the care they are receiving.

In my sister's words, "It is a very nice hotel - the staff are very helpful and the food is wonderful". Albeit she has dementia, she is happy in her World and is enabled to live in "her World".

As this was my first time at a care home I was somewhat hesitant at what would happen and what I expected.
The staff here have been absolutely fabulous, they looked after me rather well, allaying my hesitance from the word go, the taking of medicines, is well organised and prompt.
Room is brilliant, wet room (great fun to shower seated) quite roomy, living room/bed has bags of space and TV and WiFi.
Meals are smashing (vegetarian) a good selection for each meal times, food well cooked well prepped and hot
Room cleaned daily by a cheerful member of staff.
Xmas was made a memorable season for me.
I have no hesitance in recommending Rievaulx house to anyone that would be a 1st timer.

Thankyou to all at Rievaulx house.

The staff are really caring and nothing is too much trouble they will do anything for my mum, she is always clean and tidy both in her appearance and her room and bathroom. I feel I can go to the office and discuss anything from personal matters to just everyday chit-chat. Mum has settled in lovely she has been there for about 18 months now. Perhaps a little bit more of a selection of choice of food old people prefer old type meals e.g Shepherds Pie, Meat and Potato Pie or Corned Beef Stew. All in all fantastic.

We chose Rievaulx House because the home manager is very honest and supportive. When we looked around the carers seemed friendly and knew their stuff. It's a difficult choice, putting your parent in a home for any amount of time but we are very happy with the service and know that he is in good hands with the manager and her staff.

I will recommend the home to all those looking for care in the Leeds area.

Thanks.
