View Full Details of Westoe Grange Care HomeMy brother stayed at Westoe Grange for respite for 2 weeks, and the experience was a very positive one. The Manager and the team were incredibly accommodating as my brother had been in hospital and was very confused. His daughter's, who found the whole situation very stressful, were supported in the initial move, and the manager and team went the extra mile to ensure that he settled as well as could be expected. I live in Cornwall and was very concerned about my brother. I would like to express my thanks for their help during his stay, and although he is moving on, I would highly recommend Westoe Grange.
My dad's first experience of staying for respite care has been a very positive one. The staff were incredibly caring, thoughtful and provided me with regular updates on how he was settling. When I first visited the home I got a sense of warmth and understanding of residents needs. Dad, during his 2 week stay participated in activities, singing and bingo for example and there was always someone to talk to. Family members visited during his stay and his was never a problem and they found him content and settled due to supportive, experienced staff.
Following a fall at home, Mam went into respite care at Westoe Grange for a short time, while we (family) sorted out adaptations to her house etc. From the moment we called to enquire about room availability, to the day when she finally headed back home after a stay of around one month, the team at Westoe Grange were first class: the staff at Westoe Grange were like an extension to the family and nothing was ever too much trouble to them - they ensured Mam's stay was just right to help her regain confidence after the fall. The staff are constantly attentive, and all of them are genuine, extremely hardworking and deeply caring. Thanks in no small part to the care of the team at Westoe Grange, Mam is back home, living independently again (at 96 years old). The short period of respite care they provided is just what she needed to help her get back on her feet.
My mam only resided at Westoe Grange for a little over 8 months but her time there was filled with genuine care, love and support. The staff are so friendly and clearly love their job. I would often come in to find the staff giving mam a cuddle when she was confused or anxious until I could be with her: the staff will never appreciate how their actions supported me as much as my mam! When mam was admitted to hospital, two members of staff visited her and again offered support and love to both mam and the family; they even attended her funeral and were visibly upset because of their genuine affection for mam. I will never forget the dedication and love showered on mam at Westoe Grange and wish I could mention each and every member of staff personally - as they all played a part in helping mam to feel she belonged during her final months. Thank you all so much for everything you all did - you are such special people and you will probably never realise the difference you made to our lives.
My mum has just celebrated her 90th birthday at Westoe Grange. I cannot thank the staff enough for all their help, support and kindness in making this event such a special occasion for us all! Although the Home was especially busy that day, they found time to provide us with tea, coffee and sandwiches as well as decorating the room with banners and balloons. Their care and support for not only my mum but for all the family is exemplary and we have some lovely treasured memories as a result. Thank you so much.
My mam has been here for 6 months now and I can't fault the place. The staff are so caring and friendly and any niggles I've had have been dealt with quickly and efficiently. All the staff are attentive and make me feel very welcome. The home is very clean and tidy and mam is always in clean clothes and very tidy which makes me so happy. The home has a very happy atmosphere. The activities are inclusive , just wish there were more but I appreciate it costs money from more staff.
My mum spent a year at Westoe Grange Care Home. During this time, we found the staff genuinely cared for my mum and were respectful and kind at all times. The staff were professional and the levels of communication and information sharing/involvement of the family in all decisions was exemplary and timely. Whenever my mum needed additional medical assessment, a nurse or doctor was called immediately and advice acted on. The staff formed a good relationship with Mum and learned about her and her personality traits and would often have a laugh with her. We found the manager was extremely knowledgeable and her attitude experience and skill was reassuring for the family. I would not hesitate to put a family member in this care home again.
Could not be happier with the care provided. Staff are friendly, and professional and could not do anymore for their residents. Would not hesitate to recommend this home to other friends and family.
We were very grateful to the manager for taking in my mother at very short notice, initially for respite care. The team acted immediately assessing her needs so she could be transferred directly from hospital. Staff were friendly and caring, mainly from the local area and the home kept us in regular contact, letting us know if there were any issues. My mother's end-of-life care was given with compassion and sensitivity and we appreciated all that the staff at the home did for us.
A dear friend that I have Lasting Power of Attorney for, is in Westoe Grange. From the time she was admitted until now, I have not been able to fault them, they contact me the minute anything happens and the staff are always so pleasant. If I had to go into a home I would choose Westoe Grange.
My husband has been in for respite for 3 weeks. I was really upset about putting him in and the staff were so understanding and comforting to me and my husband. I cannot fault the standard of care and all of my husband's needs have been met and nothing is a both to them. I have asked my husband if he would be happy to come here again and he said he would. He has made some lovely bonds with the carer's and we would love to keep in touch with them. I thoroughly recommend Westoe Grange. 1st class care.
My mother passed away on 30 June 2023 at the age of 95, she had been a resident at Westoe for around 4 years. When she initially arrived she was in a very poor state of health with numerous issues ranging from heart to other organ infections. To say Westoe saved her life is an understatement! Despite the diagnosis of Dementia, within a few months, Mum’s outlook was transformed and she quickly became a firm favourite with the staff. It was an absolute pleasure to visit and see the hard work, dedication and most amazingly the love all staff members put into their individual roles and responsibilities. My family will never forget them and it has given us so much pleasure to continue supporting the wonderful work they do. Thank you to the manager and the team. If ever there was an award for dedication to care work, the manager's team would get my vote every time. God bless you all and thank you.
After a long hospital stay and no longer able to be independent my mother went into Westoe Grange Care Home. She settled into Westoe Grange in no time. The friendly caring staff are excellent, nothing is a bother and treat her with kindness and love and make her laugh. She is in a safe and secure environment and is a much happier person, it’s the happiest we have seen her in a very long time. It’s such a comfort and gives peace of mind to family knowing she is in safe hands.
My aunt has recently become a resident at the home. From the onset, all the staff have been very friendly and helpful both over the phone and in person, nothing seems like too much trouble. I live a 3-hour drive away and on a recent visit my aunt was so happy at the home, I've not seen her as happy for many years, the staff clearly enjoyed her company and showed great care and compassion. I have every confidence that all her needs will be met and she will be cared for with dignity and love, which will give me great peace of mind, as I am unable to visit as often as I would like due to living so far away. I would recommend this care home to anyone who might need either long or short-term care or even respite care.
In these challenging times, it is hard for all concerned. It is frustrating not being able to visit. I fully understand, and, support the reasons for these short term shutdowns. The safety of all residents and staff is paramount. I thank you all for the care given to my mother, I know you have her best interests at heart.
The care has been of an extremely high standard. Friendly staff who are always willing to help and advise. Residents are well turned out and there is a superb timetable of activities to suit all. Would highly recommend this home.
My great aunt is being cared for at Westoe Grange. It is a great relief to us both that she is being well looked after, with such professional staff. We are always kept well informed and communication has been great. We didn’t think she would settle in so well and is even joining in with some of the activities. My aunt seems very happy and has got her smile back.
My mother has been cared for at Westoe Grange for six months. Staff have always appeared both kind and professional, even in sometimes very challenging circumstances. Their communication with me has been excellent, I feel I have been kept in the loop regarding Mam’s care at every step. I feel confident that she is safe and well looked after, which is a huge relief to me. Thank you!
Great support for my father's needs given and supported by all the staff of the home. Excellent communication to keep us informed of issues at the home and the specific needs of my dad. I cannot praise the staff enough for all their hard work day in and day out supporting and caring for our dad.
Over the past three years my father has been cared for at Westoe Grange, he suffered from dementia and has required full-time assistance to help him with everyday needs and welfare. The care and consideration shown to him by the staff allowed him to be safe and comfortable. During Covid, they balanced the needs of the residents' health with that of family wanting access, we felt informed and were facilitated with phone and video calls, and as soon as possible letting us in to visit safely. In December my dad became ill and was hospitalised. It became apparent he was requiring palliative care, I contacted Westoe Grange and asked if they would assist, the answer was "of course, this is his home". The pressure was off from that moment, all of the arrangements were made and he returned to where he felt comfortable surrounded by people who cared for him, I have not got enough words to thank everyone there for the time they gave me and the peace and dignity they gave my dad.
