View Full Details of Monkstone HouseMy father was resident in Monkstone House for the last 7 months of his life in 2017 when his dementia became too advanced for my elderly mother to cope with at home. She inspected many care homes before deciding that the family run/owned Monkstone House was the only one that was a suitable and caring environment for him. This was borne out by the care my father received up to his death in September 2017. Sadly my mother also developed dementia and in 2021 it became clear that she was no longer able to live independently. It was a no-brainer to arrange for her also to become a Monkstone resident. My mother has been there since 2021 and has been well-cared for, well-fed and entertained. She is now 92, has advanced dementia but is contented and clearly feels safe and secure. The staff are well-trained, caring and empathetic. There appears to be low turnover (several remember my father who died in 2017) which indicates a happy working environment. So glad we picked Monkstone
My mum has been in Monkstone house for nearly 3years, we have found all the staff caring and patient and their support to us as a family has been invaluable from the time she went in, helped her to settle in quickly until she recently passed away. Her whole care has been second to none during which has been a difficult time for our family. Would recommend this care home to anyone for their family members who require extra care and support.
It is almost impossible to put into words my gratitude and admiration for the care and compassion shown by every single person at Monkstone involved in caring for my mother who passed away earlier this month at the age of 97, after 8 years in Monkstone, with severe dementia and Alzheimer's. The environment always appeared more like a private residence than a care home. The staff were invariably friendly, interested and supportive. As I did not live locally, I used to call every couple of weeks in between visits and no matter who answered the phone, the individual always knew where and how my mother was, whether she had slept well and what sort of mood she was in. It is testament to their standards that during the Covid pandemic, not only did my mother not contract the virus, but, as far as I am aware, nor did a single resident. For me, the most important consideration of all was knowing absolutely that my mother was safe and being treated with kindness and compassion. Thank you all.
I was always extremely happy with all the care provided for my father while he was being cared for at Monkstone House. All the staff are friendly and welcoming and treated with my Dad with the utmost respect. it definitely was a "home" from "home" for my dad and all the family. Thank you.
