My uncle was a resident at Monkstone House for three years until he passed away. When he first got there, he settled in quite quickly in the home-from-home atmosphere. During his time there, he was made to feel comfortable and safe. His every need met by friendly, familiar faces, he was treated with
kindness, compassion and respect. Our family were very pleased and reassured by the excellent care he received. We were able to visit at any time, were made welcome and felt supported. I will be forever thankful for the care and support my uncle and family received from staff and management, and we highly recommend Monkstone House Care Home.

My dad has been in Monkstone House for 16 months. He has settled very well and is happy. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. They are so good with my father and tending to his individual needs. The location is great and we are able to take him out in a wheelchair when the weather is fine. I
would recommend Monkstone House.

Our mother needed fairly urgent homing a few summers back, and the team at Monkstone could not have been more caring or considerate - they were literally angels.
Acknowledging our concern, they were able to offer day care initially, before permanent place was available. This served 2 purposes, to
keep mum safe and cared for, but also eased the transition to residency.
The facilities and team felt like home to her, her new home. The activities, kept her amused, and support always on hand, or friendly chats.
As her care needs expanded, again the team were so supportive for her, and visiting family, and regular comms on doctors/nurses' recommendations.
Sadly mum's condition deteriorated, and we could really see the compassion and care they had in those last days, and heartfelt support to our family.
This is an excellent place, with excellent caring staff. I am so grateful mum got to spend 3yrs or so in such comfortable surroundings.

I'm very happy with the care my Father receives at Monkstone house, my Father seems quite content being there.Whenever I wish to take my Father out of the home the staff have him ready at short notice ,nothing seems too much for any of the staff, all the staff involved with Dad are so helpful and understanding
of his requirements.I can leave my Father knowing he is in very safe hands. The care and reassurance I witness on a regular basis when visiting is quite remarkable I'm not sure if they realise how important a job they are doing for families of residents as well as the residents themselves. The activities they involve residents with and artists they have visit is a bonus.

My father has been a resident in the home for just over a year. He has settled in the home. I can honestly say that the care he receives is wonderful, caring, professional and nothing is too much trouble. His needs are always taken care of. The staff take time to reassure my dad when he sometimes becomes
agitated or sad, or just needs a chat or just wants to have a sing song.
The staff are very approachable and are happy to chat and help with any concerns we have concerning my Dads illness.
Overall we as a family couldn't be happier with the care my dads receives at Monkstone House thanks to all the lovely staff.

Mum has been with Monkstone House since March 2026 and even though it's only been a few weeks we have been happy with the staff and management who are helpful and supportive. They helped make mum's transition smooth and she seems content and we can see she has taken part in the activities held, which
pleased us as we wondered if she would. I feel mum is cared for in a warm and friendly environment and any questions I've had were answered quickly. Of the care homes we visited while deciding we felt Monkstone had a nice outlook and pleasant surroundings with a homely feel. So far I've been very pleased.

My mother was a resident at Monkstone House for 8 years until she passed away. Throughout that time she received wonderful care. It is a genuine home from home and staff had said to me that their attitude is that 'residents don't live where the staff work, but the staff are privileged to work in the
residents' home'. There is a friendly atmosphere and families are always welcome. It is clean, fresh, nicely decorated and comfortable. Mum enjoyed crafts, and music activities including Christmas events and other celebrations, and making the most of the garden during the summer months. The care and support that Mum, and our family had during the Covid pandemic was exemplary. During the final few years of Mum's life when she had more advanced dementia she was treated with utmost respect and kindness. We knew all the staff working there, as there wasn't a high staff turnover, and Mum felt safe with familiar faces and surroundings. I can highly recommend Monkstone House.

My mother was in Monkstone house for just over five years and never we felt there was anything amiss about her care, in fact we can not praise it enough. The only small issue was that we would have liked more regular updates on her current levels onthe progression of her condition, but whenever we asked
the information was always forthcoming.

My mother settled in immediately and enjoys the company of the staff and the residents. She has always enjoyed the food, which she says is delicious and all the things she likes.
From our perspective the Home is kept spotlessly clean and the staff, without exception, are friendly and supportive to
the visitors. They treat my mother with kindness and respect and she feels safe in the Home. The Home has regular activities and events such as singers coming in. I have no complaints.

My mother was in Monkstone house from Sept 2020 to Nov 2022. She didnt really want to go into a care home but unfortunately couldn't cope at home alone. Luckily my motherinlaw was also in Monkstone House so it made it a bit easier for her. My mother soon made many friends Management and staff were
very responsive and helpful and my mother was looked after very well. She enjoyed the activities, arts and crafts, plus having her hair done and the bible readings. Staff were amazing during my mothers end of life care and her passing. We as a family couldn't thank them enough for their support. I would recommend Monkstone House Care Home.

My Father was a resident here from August 2025 until he sadly passed away in March 2026.
I found all the staff to be very professional but still approachable. Nothing too much trouble, even down to taking him clean clothes and collecting dirty clothes from hospital. I do'nt live near so was so pleased
that we found this carehome as I was very confident that he was well looked after.
He had many medical problems that they dealt with.He had spent a long time in hospital prior to moving here and they took time to make sure he settled in well. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending this carehome to anyone. Thanks again to all the staff.

My mum was very reluctant to give up her independence and move to Monkstone House. All the staff and managers reassured her within a very short time that it was a lovely place to live. She enjoyed the interaction with all the friendly caring staff. Her hair was done weekly and her nails painted if she
fancied it. Mum enjoyed the food and the social meal times. I appreciated that she was totally safe , very well cared for and that she was content with nothing to worry about. Also her personal care was very well catered for.
Mum was always very presentable , her clothes and her bedroom and bathroom were spotless. It is never an ideal family situation when a parent has to go into residential care. I felt that the transition was very well managed with mum first visiting for lunch. Then being allowed to take many personal belongings and some furniture with her helped.
I felt that Monkstone had really good communication with all the extended family and were totally approachable .

My mum has been at Monkstone Care Home for over four years now, and the care she has received has been nothing short of exceptional. From day one, the team has supported her through everything, always showing genuine compassion, patience, and understanding, no matter the situation.

From the management

team through to the care staff, her needs are consistently met with kindness and professionalism. Just as importantly, her wishes and preferences are always respected-nothing is ever too big or too small to be given proper care and attention.

My mum truly loves living there, which brings an enormous sense of comfort to our family. It's not just a care home to her-it's her home. Knowing that she is safe, happy, and so well looked after has lifted a huge weight from my shoulders.
Thank you to everyone involved.

My father spent the last few weeks of his life in Monkstone House. Throughout this time I was constantly impressed with how caring all staff members were, both to my dad and also to us, the family. They kept us updated about Dad's condition throughout and made us feel we were not dealing with this difficult
situation alone and were there to support both Dad and ourselves through what was a very sad time. I feel Dad could not have had better care any where else.

My father was resident in Monkstone House for the last 7 months of his life in 2017 when his dementia became too advanced for my elderly mother to cope with at home. She inspected many care homes before deciding that the family run/owned Monkstone House was the only one that was a suitable and caring
environment for him. This was borne out by the care my father received up to his death in September 2017.

Sadly my mother also developed dementia and in 2021 it became clear that she was no longer able to live independently. It was a no-brainer to arrange for her also to become a Monkstone resident. My mother has been there since 2021 and has been well-cared for, well-fed and entertained. She is now 92, has advanced dementia but is contented and clearly feels safe and secure.

The staff are well-trained, caring and empathetic. There appears to be low turnover (several remember my father who died in 2017) which indicates a happy working environment. So glad we picked Monkstone

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.888)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.888) out of 10 for Monkstone House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.888 for Monkstone House is calculated as follows: ( (232 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 260 Ratings = 4.888
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Monkstone House is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
