View Full Details of Alt-Na-Craig House Care HomeI wanted to express my deepest gratitude to everyone at Alt-Na-Craig Care Home for the care you gave my Dad. You didn't just provide excellent service, but welcomed him with genuine comfort and gave him dignity. The family wanted everyone working at Alt-Na-Craig House Care Home to know they provided incredible love and care in Dad's final weeks. We feel truly blessed, as a family, that Alt-Na-Craig House Care Home gave Dad the best possible care when he was most vulnerable and ill.
Unfortunately previous nursing home of 3 years closed due to financial restraints. This was an extremely stressful time for the family as our mum had been previously very settled in care home and we were very worried about the affect of moving to a new home would have on her. We were very lucky to secure a place in Alt-Na-Craig and are extremely relieved at how mum has settled so well here. We could not be happier with the care mum receives. Thankfully she is very settled in Alt-Na-Craig, has a beautiful refurbished room with a nice outlook. From entering the building there is a lovely homely atmosphere and the staff are always ready with a happy smile to greet you. You are made welcome at all times. The home is kept exceptionally clean and tidy. The activities offered are wonderful and it is so nice to see the residents joining in. All in all there are too many staff to mention but as a family we could not be more grateful that we have chosen such a wonderful home for mum .
Our relationship with Alt-Na-Craig dates back some 18 months in which time the management & staff have regularly demonstrated a very high level of care and that nothing is too much of a burden in the support they provide my brother. Whether it is assisted trips to see family members or most recently proactively supporting his attending a family wedding - without the Alt-Na-Craig team's help his attendance at his nephew's recent wedding would have been pretty much impossible. It is reassuring for the family to know that (1) our relationship with the care home is a partnership and (2) that my brother has the team at Alt-Na-Craig with their can-do attitude in his corner providing excellent care & support.
From the time my mother entered Alt-Na-Craig, she settled very quickly. I am sure this had a lot to do with the caring staff. A lot of communication helped Mum integrate with the ongoing in the home. She was convinced to join in the activities in house and also to enjoy the outings. A happy atmosphere was felt throughout the home. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Alt-Na-Craig is not somewhere that residents are left to sit on their own, thank goodness! The staff are always trying to improve the surroundings to give a real homely look. A good choice for my mum.
Staff very efficient, friendly and kind. My friend is very happy and enjoying her left in Alt-Na-Craig following the death of her husband.
I am so happy that I chose Alt-Na-Craig for my mum's end of life care. The nursing home feels more like a small family hotel. It's cosy, warm & friendly. The staff were all very professional but also so very kind & caring to me as I sat at my mums bed for her last few days. The hugs, cups of tea & supportive chat was absolutely wonderful. 10/10 for this nursing home.
I have found living in Alt-Na-Craig is great for my circumstances. On my own now, family all live in London. I am still fairly mobile and can wash and dress myself with some help. Enjoy the company & activities. Staff are excellent & very helpful.
When Mum first arrived at the care home, management, and staff were brilliant at helping her to settle in and continue to provide excellent care and are always available if I need to discuss any concerns l have about Mum.
My elderly mother was transferred from hospital to Alt-Na-Craig Nursing Home as a transition between hospital and a return to her home. The period of rehabilitation and respite was very successful and the care she received from all staff enabled her to return home as planned. The nursing home was clean and bright and the staff were polite, friendly and attentive. I was also impressed with how well the managers communicated with me on her progress. The lead nurse was in regular contact with my mother's GP surgery and kept me updated on all medical issues.
My beloved dad was a resident in Alt-Na-Craig for just over 2 years. The love, care, dignity and respect he received here by the fantastic "Alt-Na Angels" was absolutely second to none. He loved Alt-Na and each and every single member of staff, as did I. They became a second family to us both and made the last 2 years so special for Dad. We enjoyed our trips to a local town when we went, but most of all he loved watching movies with myself in his room each and every day. Nothing was ever too much to ask and the staff met his every need. He always looked forward to his meals as he loved his food. Unfortunately due to his stroke everything had to be puried, this didn't stop him enjoying the fantastic meals the chefs cooked every day though, especially the desserts he loved! Sadly my beloved dad passed 4 weeks ago peacefully in Alt-Na. I take my hat off to the manager and each and every one of the staff for making Alt-na-Craig one of the best, if not the best care home in the area.
Living overseas, the decision to put my mum in care as she has Alzheimer's, was not an easy one but my visits to Alt-Na-Craig to assist my mum in settling in, reassured me I had chosen the best care home for her. The staff are caring and compassionate and take the time to discuss any concerns they may have about her welfare. I call from overseas on a weekly basis to chat with Mum and she’s so settled and happy and now even enjoys participating in the activities at the home. She’s gained weight since being there thanks to regular healthy meals and snacks. I feel confident that she’s being well cared for.
My friend and erstwhile client has recently moved into Alt-Na-Craig Glenfield. He has previously resided there on a couple of occasions for respite care and when he recently had a fall at home he was delighted to be able to leave the hospital and take up permanent residence in Glenfield.
My mother has been a resident at Alt Na Craig care home for nearly a year now. Sadly I had to eventually sell my mother's home, where I had been living as well, in Scotland and I moved back to England. However, having seen how well the staff cared for my mother I decided to keep her there. Some members of staff formed a very close bond with Mum, and she has always seemed very happy to be there. Since I moved away the care home has kept me well informed of Mum's situation and particularly with regard to any medical issues. Whilst she does spend a lot of time in her room she does go on some of the outings arranged by the home and enjoys visits by friends and family. Having visited several care homes in the west of Scotland and England I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this care home.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted since my mum has resided at Alt-Na-Craig. Mum has a new lease of life and is having a great time, which fills us all with such joy. She is well looked after, and anything is caught very quickly and treated. She’s eating well and making friends, which is giving her family time to step back and breathe. Can’t thank the staff enough.
My granda and his family decided that due to his health deteriorating he was no longer well enough to go home and becoming a resident at Alt Na Craig House was the next best thing. My granda was only at the home for a short time before he passed away but in the time he was there, he received excellent care from all the staff and in the last few weeks of his life he was bright and settled with the decision he had made. In the last few days, all the staff treated my granda with dignity and respected the wishes that he had discussed with his family. Being part of a big family, there was always someone with him in his last few days, the staff made the family feel welcome and offered refreshments not feeling they were in the way. My auntie described it well as feeling like coming to visit my granda in his own home only bigger. Thank you to all the staff at Alt Na Craig House you made a very sad time bearable.
We had a very positive experience with all staff making Mum's last weeks and months more bearable. The staff were all excellent and Mum and my sister both had a very positive experience. I would still like to praise two members of staff, in particular.
Always find everyone friendly and helpful and they all know the residents well. They were very helpful for my mum to get another room once they knew her phobia they gave her a choice of rooms. They asked a man to change rooms with her.
Very caring and attentive staff. Generally very clean and pleasant environment. Good facilities for the general wellness of residents, i.e. hairdresser and podiatrist. Although I have not been directly involved, I believe that the activities and outings are well-organised and offer residents different opportunities and experiences.
The care staff are incredible and management listen to both the residents and the family. Any time we have noticed our mum being slightly out of sorts the staff have listened and assessed what to do. Staff always have a 'hello' for you and the home feels cheery.
My mother is so well looked after and is very comfortable at Alt-Na-Craig House. She is always involved in activities and outings and enjoys being well fed and given cups of tea with home baking. We are all so grateful that she is being kept safe and well. All the staff are friendly and helpful.
