View Full Details of St Vincent's HouseMy mum has been a resident at St Vincent's since April this year. It was a difficult and confusing time for her, but the staff at St V's were so kind and caring, helping her to settle in and slowly encouraging her to participate in the many activities proposed. We now see many smiling photos of her, which we know are not posed or forced. The staff alert the family very quickly about anything out of the ordinary, which is much appreciated and we get regular opportunities to discuss any aspects of her care. As I don't live in the country, it's reassuring to know that I can call for an update if I need it. When I (or family and friends) visit, we have appreciated the warm welcome from all the staff. The premises are well maintained and clean, clothes regularly laundered, and the garden is a real bonus when the weather is nice. We have also been able to share in mealtime and the menu seems varied and of decent quality. It's very reassuring for us to know that our mum is in good hands!
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the staff at St Vincents for the exceptional care and support they provide to my mum. The compassion, patience, and professionalism shown by every member of the team has made a tremendous difference - not only to my Mum's wellbeing, but also to my peace of mind. It's incredibly reassuring to know she is in such capable and caring hands. The dementia-focused activities and therapeutic approach have had a noticeable impact. Despite communication difficulties, I've seen Mum more engaged, calmer, and even joyful during my visits. The way the staff foster a sense of familiarity, routine, and dignity is truly commendable. I picked up some colleague nomination cards but found it impossible to choose - there are simply too many people to thank, and I didn't want to leave anyone out! Please pass on my sincere thanks to everyone involved in her care. Your work is invaluable, and I'm so grateful for the difference you make every day.
My mum has been at St Vincents for 7 months now and I am very happy with the care that she has received. She is treated with kindness and respect and her individual needs are taken into consideration. There is a fantastic, varied activities program which keeps her busy and any special requests eg for food are always acted upon. All the staff are caring and approachable which contributes to the sense of community within the home.
I so happy with the care that my uncle Cliff has received since he has been with you. He has enjoyed singing and even a trip down to the river coffee shop and he even told me he fed the birds. He really enjoyed the day the Owl's came to visit and he could stroke them. He also enjoys his favourite fish and chips on a friday. St Vincent's nursing home has excellent staff whom are kind and friendly. Thank you all so much for your hard work.
As a son living far from my mother with dementia, I would often wonder how she was. But, as I learned of St. Vincent's brand of quality care for its residents, I became confident my mother was well taken care of with love & respect. When she passed, I could feel how the care home staff missed her like family. For all these, I'm very grateful to St. Vincent's Care Home.
Mom has advanced dementia. She moved to St. Vincent's in July and we were very concerned the move would be disorientating and traumatic for her as she was very settled in the previous home. Obviously there was some confusion but the staff were absolutely brilliant with her. Much to our surprise and relief Mom was extremely quickly very happy. She likes her new room and is much more involved in activities. For somebody who always likes to be busy this is working really well for her. We are particularly pleased with the cleanliness of the home and the attention to Mom's personal hygiene. Which is not an easy task for the carers as Mom has a very independent and stubborn streak. All in all we could not have wished for a better out come.
My friend has been a resident at St. Vincent's for 6 months now. At first he was very disoriented and didn't understand why he was there. He was recovering from a fall, was dehydrated and fragile after a nasty bout of flu. Over the months his health and strength has returned, and his memory has improved. Generally he seems happier and quite settled and has started to be more chatty with the staff and more sociable. I have minor concerns regarding his everyday grooming and personal appearance, which doesn't seem to be high on the agenda, but in every other respect he appears to being treated well and cared for by the team.
I truly enjoy the activities I attend, especially when animals visit for pet therapy-it's always such a wonderful experience. The activities team are very enthusiastic and always create a welcoming, engaging atmosphere for everyone. The home itself is very clean, well cared for, and the management team are always approachable and helpful.
My mum has severe dementia. Mums been in St Vincents for over a year now after transferring her from another home. The carers, catering staff, cleaners and managers here are absolutely wonderful. The care, love and attention they give all the residents is outstanding. I honestly can't fault them. They have a lot of people to look after and spend as much time as they can with them. They do activities as much as possible to keep the residents as active physically and mentally as possible. Anyway back to mum. Since she's been here we've had a few rough patches as shes now 80 but with the help of everyone she's still here and seems to be in such a happy place. We are getting to enjoy time with her that we didn't think we'd get. Its absolutely brilliant. A big thank you to everyone here and hopefully mums going to be with us for a long time to come.
Very welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the home. Smelt lovely. Fresh flowers everywhere made the home appealing. Actvities were taking place with the residents and they were being sung to by a staff member who was also playing a guitar.
A superb nursing home! I had to leave a review for the staff at St. Vincent Nursing Home. My father was cared for by the dementia team, and they truly exceeded my expectations - so professional, kind, and compassionate. I had assumed nursing homes were neglectful, but this couldn't be further from the truth here. Every day, nurses and carers attentively looked after him. His room and bathroom were always clean and comfortable, and they even let us bring his own wall-mounted TV, which the lovely handyman installed. He was served delicious meals, and staff even offered me food when I visited - such a thoughtful touch. My family and I appreciated how willing they were to accommodate anything for his comfort. Special thanks to a few specific members of staff, and all the amazing team. You were a blessing to my father in his final days. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
I am a regular volunteer at the care home and I attend the activity hour twice a week. While volunteering I have seen a wide range of activities which have been provided which encourage residents to engage with each other. There is a very friendly and fun environment here where all residents seem to thoroughly enjoy these activities that take place.

I am happy for everything. Top class, no complaints. The care I am receiving is More than I expected. I am happy with the room and all the services being provided. The nurses and all staff are very good, they are very attentive.
My experience coming to the home is excellent, except for entry when the office is unmanned. Twice when there was no one in the office, I had to wait 15 minutes to gain entry to the building. A diggestion is, that when the office is unmanned, an entry code should be left on the entry pad and removed when the office is manned so entry is not hindered.
The staff are all so friendly, caring, helpful and really take time with my mother going over and above to make sure she is ok, safe and looked after. They take the time to engage with her and also with the other residents. The management team are very approachable, personable, professional and helpful. We have seen an improvement in the meals and snacks recently. Housekeeping is good, staff is helpful. The activities team do an amazing job making such an effort to put on a variety of activities for the residents including those who don’t leave their rooms. It is evident how much the residents enjoy this time. The garden is lovely and peaceful. There is also a great hair salon. My mother is very happy at St. Vincent’s nursing home and we are also very happy that she is there as she is well looked after and safe. That is a testament to all the staff and the care given at all levels from carers, nurses, support, housekeeping, kitchen, admin and management etc. Thank you St. Vincent’s.
Management has been swift to respond to any communication and issues. The staff at the care home are always friendly and quick to fix issues. Communication between everyone at the care home sometimes goes wrong but they always own it, learn and move forward. I think more could be done to make the garden space more pleasant to be in. My mother very much enjoys the food provided at the home and the singing entertainment.
The care home take amazing care of my mum. The staff are friendly passionate and always friendly to my mum which she loves it makes her smile. When I leave the care home I never worry about her well-being they are so attentive.
