View Full Details of The Arkley Care HomeRoom could do with decorating. Much better since new management has taken over - staff friendly and helpful. Mum is well looked after.
1. First of all - credit where it's due, the carers are first class, well groomed, friendly, polite and always ready to help. The same can be said of cleaning and laundry staff. 2. However, I have found some clinical support on occasion to be deficient, for example, it took the clinical department 3 months to get an appointment with a local dentist (cannot use public transport), and a similar occurrence occurred in finding a chiropodist. 3. I am all too well aware of budgetary constraints, I find menus to be overweight in carbohydrates (e.g. mashed potato with beef and onion pie, large helpings of flavourless pasta with too little sauce, roast potatoes with mashed!). Meat is usually overcooked and grey in colour. Salads need improvement, lettuce should be shredded, not in long cm-wide strips, cucumber should be sliced (also peppers), not in large chunks. A little amount of vinaigrette would add much flavour and mouthfeel. 4. For a permanent residence, I would probably need a larger room with space for a filing cabinet. Being self funded, rather than reliant upon a company/public service pension, involves a volume of paperwork. Should you so wish, I would be happy to discuss any of the points raised in person or on the telephone.
This home rates second to none. The quality of care my dad got was five-star. When you walk into the home, a warm, friendly welcome is given. My Dad loved it here. I would recommend this home to anyone who wants to put their loved one into a care home.
I am very pleased with the care and support my dad has received at this care home. A very much warm and friendly atmosphere, the staff are absolutely amazing and they tend to my dad with such care. I am extremely happy with the care he receives and very grateful to all of the team.
I don't see my mother often but since new management I feel happy in the knowledge my mother aged 99 is being well cared for. All the staff are friendly and caring and they encourage my mother to leave her room which is not easy due to her hallucinations. Mum's room is clean and tidy. I also notice there are always staff about which is important as I know they are popping in and keeping an eye on her. We recently celebrated Mum's 99th which the staff did beautifully. I feel confident that Mum is being looked after.
Very friendly staff and manager who have helped my mum settle into the home quickly. Good food, range of activities and always made to feel welcome when visiting.
I have been most impressed by the level of care being offered. The staff overall have presented a warm and caring attitude towards residents and visitors alike. What has impressed me the most however, is the impact the new manager appears to be having. As I do not live locally, I am dependent on email and telephone communications, should I have questions that need to be addressed or responded to. I greatly value the personal care and attention the manager has devoted to addressing questions I have asked. I definitely feel that my friend's care has been enhanced because of this service. A lovely building is one thing, but it becomes so much more of a caring home with the correct staff in place. My thanks to all for what they are doing for all the residents.
Mum came to The Arkley Care Home needing care, love and nourishment. I am very pleased to say the team at The Arkley delivered on each count. We were very pleased with the care Mum received whilst at The Arkley. There was always a welcome for all family members when visiting.
Basically, happy with all aspects of my wife's care in The Arkley. More so with the new manager.
The home provides a good standard of care. The catering staff provided an excellent Christmas lunch which was great! Communications between carers over treatment procedures could perhaps be improved to maintain consistency.
Overall I am satisfied with the care my mother is receiving in The Arkley Care Home. The only problem has been in the past is that the level of care and listening hasn't been consistent but since the new manager has started I can see a lot of improvement. I feel like the staff are more disciplined, even more ecaring and listening to our concerns when something arise. I thank aeveroyne at The Arkley for being so friendly - everyone always sats 'hello' which is nice.
I highly recommend this care home for its exceptional staff and outstanding quality of care. The carers are incredibly attentive, patient, and compassionate, showing remarkable understanding of my mum's complex needs. Their dedication to her well-being is evident in the way they handle even the most challenging situations with professionalism and empathy. The new manager has had a transformative impact on the home, responding to questions with efficiency and genuine care. She has built a culture of excellence and attentiveness that is felt throughout the team. There are truly special people working here who consistently go above and beyond to ensure residents feel valued and cared for. From the chefs, maintenance, nurses and carers. Their patience, kindness, and ability to adapt to individual needs are exemplary. I am incredibly grateful for the support they provide and the positive difference they make in my mum's life.
My mum was a resident here for the last few months and as we are over 300 miles away it was so reassuring to have her in a safe place with caring staff to look after her. Whenever we visited, every one of the staff we met was so friendly and there was always a nice feel to the place, I cannot thank them enough for all the care they showed her.
The process of admission for my friend has been really well handled by care home manager, she has been really fantastic at communicating and keeping us in the loop. The manager and the team have been very welcoming and friendly to my friend as she adjusts to the new environment. So far things are going really well and I like the feel and the look of the home in general. Thank you for making this an easy transition for my friend.
Mum is respected and treated with dignity. We are appreciative of Mum's care. She has been made to feel very settled.
My father went into The Arkley Care Home for end-of-life care. We were unsure about moving my dad into any care home, however, the team of dedicated staff put our minds at rest. We were very impressed by how quickly Dad's health needs were assessed by external officials working with the home. As a result, my dad passed away peacefully and with dignity and we were supported by a medical nurse at the end. Thank you to all the staff at The Arkley Care Home.
I volunteer at The Arkley with my pet therapy dog. I work in a hospital and started visiting after one of the patients I supported was placed there. This is a beautiful care home. When you enter the downstairs there is a huge indoor garden, amazing and so innovative. The residents are really cared for, in every sense of the word. You can see this in the interactions between them and the staff. The home manager is very caring and hands-on. In my professional life, I have visited many care homes over the years. The Arkley is one of the best.
From arriving at the care home last year we were made so welcome, the staff are very friendly, and the home is very welcoming. All care required by my friend was provided and was quality care. We have now left to go back home but will be returning for respite visits. Over 2 years we have been here, it is a home away from home. My family and I are eternally grateful.
Arkley Home is just the most lovely place, my aunt is so much happier here. Everyone is so friendly and the atmosphere is light and bright. We had a last minute booking for lunch which was very good, the home manager is fabulous. We are thrilled. Thank you!
My friend has been at The Arkley for a little over 2 years now. I visit each week and each time see how well cared for my friend is. Staff are friendly, the manager is approachable and always helpful. Thank you.
