View Full Details of Chestnut Court Care HomeThe Care Home should have more activities for the residents, as they are often asleep in the lounge due to boredom. The TV in the lounge is very old and far too small for all the residents to see. It is vital that a much bigger TV is in the lounge for the benefit of all. There is a lot more that the Activities Team can do to stimulate the residents instead of Bingo and colouring. They could do baking cakes, flower arranging, puzzles, picture dominoes, cards - snap etc. I donated musical CD/DVD's and games, and have not seen them used. If they had a new modern bigger screen TV they could watch the DVD's and films and use it to play music to stimulate and engage ALL residents. Puzzles, Dominoes and card games, picture quiz etc. can be played instead of bingo. At weekends there are no activities at all just the tv on and residents sleeping in the lounge due to boredom.
Staff are friendly. My mother goes on outings. She goes for afternoon teas and theatre shows. My mum has dementia and the staff know how to care for my mum. My mum particularly likes three members of staff in particular.
The Care at Chestnut Court my loved one receives is absolutely amazing. Staff are constantly telling me how much of a joy she is to have in the home and she attends daily activity sessions and they are some of the most engaging parts of her day. She loves interacting with fellow residents and staff and I cant fault the staff one bit for the compassion and love they have showed her!
My mum was placed in Chestnut Court after being discharged from hospital as she was not able to return to her home. As a family, we can't thank the staff enough for the kindness & support they have given to us as a family, as well as looking after Mum. We are moving her so she is near all the family members in London, but if this option were not available, we would be happy to have her stay. We will miss the staff and are sorry for her to go.
Dad was admitted to chestnut care home in Nov 2024 was there 5 months until he sadly passed away I say it was down the the lack of care he had always asleep on arrival and sleepy throughout the family time with him. Staff were always on there phones, dad had a one to one carer. Once when I got there he was asleep in the chair, another time I went I went to go to the bathroom there was a lump of poo that had been left there, some of the staff had said the room hadn't been cleaned, dads room was not nice could of done with a lick of paint, the lounge room the sofas were stained and you felt like you couldn't sit on them, also dining area had food slashes up the wall absolutely disgusting does it not get cleaned most of the staff were there just for the money and not the job, some were rude some were really lovely, dad eventually ended up in hospital a few times due to pneumonia, in the end the hospital said he was end of life sadly dad passed with no real care from the home for us.
My father was admitted to Chestnut Court Care Home in November 2024 because unfortunately he had dementia and was unable to look after himself. When we first arrived at the home, the reception team were very friendly. The home is in very poor condition, the Dining Room has splashes of food up the walls. The soft furnishings in the lounges have stains all over them. My siblings and I felt like we had to constantly ask the carers for cups of tea or water for my father. The carers don't have any compassion. Unfortunately, when my father was receiving Palliative Care, the treatment he received was non-existent. There is one nurse there (first floor) who is rude, in her manner and rolling her eyes. Unfortunately on 15 April 2025 my father sadly passed away, and when we got to the home (30 minutes later) there was no care home staff in his room waiting for a grieving relative. The Care Home Manager didn't even offer her condolences. Please avoid this home.
I am very happy with the care mum receives - everyone is so friendly here at Chestnut Court Care Home.
My Mother was admitted to Chestnut Court Care Home on January 29th 2024. She was sadly at end of life care. My first impression with the home was how great the reception team was, but I could see that the home is in urgent need of some refurbishment, the carpets are a mess and the paintwork is shabby. As for the carers there is a great deal of inconsistency and at times I felt that my mum was a hindrance as she constantly needed minor things like cups of tea, being sat up and needed extra blankets as she felt cold. I must point out that most of the carers were helpful but a good few seemed to think that as she was at end of life care she don’t need these small comforts. Some carers/nurses bed side manners were non existent and at times rude. It also was evident that those who were self funding got special treatment as to those who was state funded.
My mum has been here for about a year and the care and attention she received is top quality. The staff are patient with her and have taken the time to get to know her personality. I feel content knowing that my mum is being well looked after which is a weight off our shoulders.
We couldn't have wished for how wonderful all the staff have been, I'm actually going to come back to see the administrator, as she has been so lovely to me.
So far, the care that Mum requires is being provided. All the staff have been amazing and answer any questions I have.
We love to say thank you for helping my dad through his care and really being a home from home.
In the short time of my mum being a resident at Chestnut Care Home, it has been a breath of fresh air compared to previous care home carers. All staff are all very accommodating in every way. So, thank you for looking after my mum in these late years of her life. I feel comfort knowing she finally has the care she deserves.
My wife passed. My experience at Chestnut was excellent, from the reception to the carers and nurses that looked after her. Very satisfied, will miss them all.
My mum was very happy at Chestnut Court and did not want to be discharged. The staff at Chestnut are very good and the home was home away from home.
My friend was well looked after the time he was here. He was given a lot of freedom with us. We also had the privilege to feed him, he realised a lot people loved him, staff and visitors.
My experience of visiting my friend was short but sweet - it was a joy to be able to spend quality time with him, to get to know all the lovely, caring staff and to be there to feed him the exceptional food that he loved. He loved to laugh right to when his life ended, he's now at peace sleeping - loved him.
We would like to express our appreciation for all the staff at Chestnut Court. Our friend was very happy here and he received dignity and kindness from all the staff. Thank you so much for the support of the family too.
My grandmother is getting good care and is happy here. My only criticism is that it needs decorating and new carpets. Her nurse and carers can't do enough!
My 97-year young mother is frail and unfortunately, has been falling over regularly as she forgets to ask for help when she needs to get up from her chair. Consequently, she has hurt herself several times in the last month and required paramedic, ambulance and hospital treatment. The staff at the care home have done all they can to minimise the risk to her safety but as she has dementia, she forgets she needs to ask for help. The care home staff have been wonderful but do not have the resources to provide one-to-one care so they engaged with myself and the relevant safeguarding personnel at social services to arrange for one-to-one care to be provided. Whilst this has taken several weeks to happen it has now been authorised and funded by social services. Hopefully, now my mother will be safe when she needs to move around the home. Many thanks to all at Chestnut Court for your ongoing care and support of my mother.
