View Full Details of Hillside Nursing HomeWe only visit occasionally. The staff are amazingly welcoming, kind, and respectful. We have been in many homes and have to admit we were a bit disappointed in the lounge area, there is no opportunity to avoid the TV, our friend is used to quietude. Today, there was a smell. Maybe it could be cleaner and a bit more attractive in bedrooms. No experience of food or activities, or value for money.
I am very happy with the care provided by the staff at Hillside Nursing Home. They are attentive, approachable and have a genuine sincerity in looking after the residents, one of whom is my father who has been at the home since 2022. The management have a hands-on approach and always greet visitors with a smile. They make everyone feel welcome and I would not hesitate to recommend Hillside. I can honestly say that there has not been a single concern since my father arrived here and I am impressed with the homely environment.
Hillside Nursing Home has made a big change in my father's health. He seems happy and content - the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Whenever you need something done - it is done straight away. Food always looks good - never anything left on the plate. The home is clean and bright.
My best friend has recently moved to a Care Home in another part of the country. So I just wanted to say a big thank you for all you have done for him during his time at Hillside over the last few years. You have shown great kindness when organising activities for him which he has always seemed to enjoy. I know he had a particular soft spot for some members of staff and the empathy you have shown him since his illness has taken hold is very much appreciated !! Thank you again & best wishes to you all at Hillside. As soon as I hear the name of his new care home I will once again continue my visits.
The staff, both in reception, and care are excellent. The residents are treated with care, dignity and respect. The only thing I would say is that the place is dirty. White doors have areas of black where hands have been. They have never been cleaned. The whole place could do with a thorough clean and made brighter and tidier.
Mum has been in the care of Hillside Nursing Home for nearly 3 years now. Mum has severe dementia, is bed ridden and needs two-handed care. The ethos of management and staff at Hillside is amazing; residents are treated and cared for as if they are family. There are always many staff on shift when I visit. Communication from staff is excellent, whether that is regarding updates; or needing to find solutions to arising problems. So far, I have not met one grumpy member of staff! Having had an awful previous care home experience for Mum, I cannot recommend Hillside enough for peace of mind for the care of your loved one.
We have visited the care home on a number of occasions since 2024 till now at different times, and always found the staff attentive and helpful. They are happy to discuss my brothers behaviour cheerfully and honestly. Maybe a new bed would help him to sleep. He looks a lot more tidy. He takes his meds on time. He is eating regularly.
Mother-in-law admitted a few days ago. Cannot fault the care she has been given. All staff have been fantastic towards her and always make time to answer any questions we have. It's been great to see her out of bed and joining in with the other residents in the shared lounge.
This care home is very welcoming and has a very homely atmosphere. All the staff are very polite and very helpful. I enjoy my visit as so welcoming. Facilities are very good and I'm always offered a cup of tea while I am visiting.
My first impression when my wife was admitted, and still is, the home is very secure and clean. Her single room is a good size and comfortable. There are some residents with greater needs compared to my wife, for example, aggression, verbally and physically. But staff take it in good humour and would talk them out of it. Staff are always in attendance, walking, feeding and holding hands with them. I am very pleased with Hillside including staff. In my opinion previous homes and hospitals have not wanted to accept responsibility or are not professional dealing with dementia care.
I have been visiting my friend regularly over the last month and have been so impressed with this care home. I am welcomed by cheerful and caring staff and nothing seems too much trouble for any of them. My friend is content and feels treated well with respect and care. The atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable.
Recently visited my relative who has been a resident for 4 years now. Was offered tea and biscuits on arrival and several staff members interacted with us including kindly bringing two chairs to my relative's room for myself and my husband (this has not happened before!). All the staff were professional, polite and attentive. My cousin commented that the choice of food is good and plentiful. My only complaint would be is the bedroom is rather cluttered and needs a clean and tidy (granted my cousin does have a lot of belongings) and his ensuite toilet was not operational and the light still not working which I first noted last December!
My aunt has been a resident since February 2024. I have visited a number of times and have always been impressed with how caring and helpful the staff are. Never a problem to ask them a question and my aunt has said how many things are organized for the residents. My aunt looks much better in herself and is always spotlessly clean and always seems happy.
The staff greeted me with warmth and smiles. Residents were in the common room where there was a TV and a radio on. Some residents were singing along to music. Xmas decorations were up, and my father-in-law was spotless as were the other residents. The senior nurse took time to discuss some health matters, and the main carer went with me to the father-in-law's room so that I could determine if he needed anything else. The whole place is spotless. The care staff were happy to chat with me and make me tea whilst I sat with the father-in-law. As I was leaving, some of the staff came in with a tea tray holding cupcakes decorated in the Scots flag, they had highland music on and were wearing kilts in honour of St Andrews Day. Some residents got up to dance as well. It was joyful. This home is a happy one, all the staff demonstrate a caring attitude to the residents and I know they have their best interests at heart As usual, it was a positive and productive visit. Thank you.
I found the staff to be very professional and caring with all patients at the home. Communication was excellent. I would have no issues in highly recommending the home.
My mother is currently a resident at Hillside. Whenever we visit, we always find the staff courteous and helpful. My mother is not an easy lady to handle but the staff show great patience and skill with dealing with all her needs. I would thoroughly recommend this home, don't be put off by the exterior, it's the staff inside that matter, they are 5 star.
My mother-in-law has been a resident at Hillside for a few months now and we have found all the staff here exceptional. She is not the easiest person to handle but they care for all her needs and we are very grateful. All the staff are friendly and go above and beyond to help. Thank you.
My 91 year old mother was referred to the care home by the NHS to recover from a broken leg and Covid. The initial care plan put in place was explained very well on her arrival and the care that she received throughout her stay was first-class. All the staff at Hillside were kind, considerate, compassionate, thoughtful and very attentive. Although the condition of decoration throughout the care home looked a bit tired on our arrival, a complete redecoration and refurbishment of the site was underway mid-June 2023. A big thank you to all the staff on behalf of my mother.
Hillside Nursing Home looked after my dad for 18 months. He was cared for, kept clean and fed well. Staff were helpful and kind.
I am pleased with the way my husband is looked after in Hillside Nursing Home. He is a handful.
