View Full Details of Barchester Ashcombe House Care HomeAs good as it gets . Everybody is so kind and helpful. I love my new home.
The staff are kind and helpful often pushed for time which is limited my partner would often wish to engage in a conversation and seems disopointed when not able to happen. Food could be varied more with more green veg and chewing ability of my partner taken into account as his false teeth can prove difficult.
All the staff at Ashcombe House are amazing. Managerial, nursing, carers, kitchen staff and cleaners were all amazing and treated my Dad with so much respect, he retained his dignity and regained his independence. Dad entered Ashcombe house, extremely frail, dehydrated and suffering delirium after a stay in hospital. The wonderful staff at Ashcombe House have nursed him back to health, helping him to gain strength and allowing him to build his confidence so that he has returned to living independently. I can't thank them enough and I am so grateful to the Manager, for seeing my Dad in hospital and getting him the care he needed. Thank you.
From the moment we first visited Ashcombe House-exhausted and overwhelmed-every single member of staff wrapped their arms not only around mum, but around our whole family. Their kindness, patience, and compassion were nothing short of angelic. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and it brought us such comfort to know mum was so well looked after. Plus the food was fantastic. All of mum's friends completely agreed with us that Ashcombe House was like a home from home Everyone has worked at Ashcombe for a very long time - and it shows.
Friendly caring staff everybody is treated like family. We still visit even though father has sadly passed away.
We visited Ashcombe House, to see a friend who had recently become a resident there. We were immediately welcomed by staff- being given coffee and cake. We waited in a comfortable lounge area because the residents were enjoying entertainment in the main lounge. Our friend was brought to join us- we were offered more coffee! Our friend was obviously happy and settled in her new home- she was full of praise for how she was being cared for her every need was met with gentleness and concern. She really felt "at home".
The last three months my wife has been in the care of Barchester Ashcombe House Care Home. A lovely home and I wouldn't want to put anybody somewhere I wouldn't want to be myself. Thank you.
Sadly our mum didn't much time at Ashcombe Care Home before she died. But from the moment the general manager met her in hospital, to the day she died the care and attention given to mum was second to none. Every carer and nurse could not do enough to support her, and even in the end of life they cared for her and us with kindness and dignity. Only wish she had more time at Ashcombe.
When my aunt passed away in March. The management and staff went above and beyond to make sure that we were informed of what had happened to her. A member of staff was with her at all times during her time in hospital before she passed away. When we visited the home staff were very attentive to us. All the staff and management showed kindness to my aunt when we asked questions, they answered them with care, and genuinely, we could see they really cared and was loved by them. The home is immaculate and well maintained. My aunt was well looked after and I couldn't ask for any more.
My mother was 103 this last weekend. She is not aware of everything around her, but appeared happy to be in her best clothes, with balloons and a beautiful cake made especially for her. Mum has been in Ashcombe for 6 years and is always treated with respect and care.
Very friendly home, where my wife felt at ease as soon as she arrived. The staff all got to know her immediately, and provided all her needs. The rooms are not big, and there are only 30 residents, which makes Ashcombe a very homely place to stay.
Staff are very professional and caring and thoughtful, they are super efficient and deal with any queries straight away , so pleased my mum is in this care home she is very happy there ,
An excellent place for families to put loved ones into. Very welcoming from management to care workers. Good social activities in the home and outside visits. Nice outdoor space for summer sitting. Cosy bedrooms and cosy day room where all activities take place.
The staff are the loveliest caring people. It puts our minds at rest knowing he is being so well cared for. A suggestion of satellite TV in the living room so residents could watch more variety of old programs instead of just (currently) game shows of which only 2 residents watch and have control over the remote.
Barchester Ashcombe House Care Home is a very happy care home, very friendly, nicely furnished but noisy. The staff were always happy and willing to do whatever was needed. It was so good to be taken out of the garden centre. I would recommend to friends.
Barchester Ashcombe House Care Home offers a fantastic and engaging environment with dedicated staff who take the time to connect with residents and understand their unique needs. There are daily activities for everyone, complimented by top-quality restaurant food with plenty of variety. The facility warmly welcomes families to participate and engage. If I had to describe Ashcombe, it's a place that caters to personal and individual needs, fosters family involvement and promotes happiness, smiles, laughter and fun. For my family and me, this home is truly exceptional. 10/10.
Last month we had to make the heartbreaking decision to have Mum admitted to Ashcombe House. At 91 with cancer and mobility issues, Dad could no longer safely care for Mum. Up to this point in our dear mum's life, we had always said we would never move mum into a care home. Sadly we had to face facts, we had to think of Dad becoming so exhausted from caring for Mum. We did lots of research and arranged a visit. As soon as we walked through the door we felt an instant warmth, we felt relaxed and felt our pre-conceived worries melt away. Mum has been a resident for 3 weeks and is settling well. The relief of knowing she is safe is such a wonderful feeling. Every member of staff has treated Mum with the utmost dignity and respect, nothing has been too much trouble. They really do go the extra mile. On my parent's 61st anniversary, they set a table with flowers, a glass of wine and even baked and iced a beautiful cake. Wonderful enrichment activities and a family feel to the home.
Husband has been here for seven years. The staff are so caring and helpful and is only 5 minutes away from where I live, so if there was an emergency, I could be here very quickly.
From show round to Mum moving into Barchester Ashcombe House Care Home, I can not fault any part of it. It was an easy choice as this was the best home out of the many I visited. I was made to feel valued and all details explained on an easy-to-understand basis. On the visit to Mum, she was put at ease and treated like a real person, not just a number. Day of arrival was handled very professionally, from pick up to room preparation. I could not fault the lunch either. Having just visited Mum after one week of her being there, I could not be more pleased. She has joined in with activities, made friends and looks so well. My sister and I cannot thank you enough.
I have been LPOA for an elderly lady for many years and she went into Barchester Ashcombe House Care Home in 2018. The staff have always been excellent and have cared for this lady like she was family. Originally, she went into the home with her husband whose health was failing. He became a paraplegic and sadly died in 2019. The staff looked after him and were very professional in meeting his complex needs. Over the intervening years, the management and staff have looked after this lady with kindness and gentleness and it has made it a pleasant home. In April, she suffered what we think was a mild stroke and also succumbed to a chest infection. As a result, she passed away at the grand age of 95. The nurses and staff have been excellent throughout this difficult period and together with the local GP practice, provided all the care that one could have hoped for. This care home may not be the largest care home but it was perfect for this lady.
