View Full Details of Green Gates Care HomeMy sisters and I are reassured by the kindness, safety and security that Green Gates and all the lovely staff provide to my mother. We are very grateful. Thank you.
I am very happy with way Dave is looked after. He enjoys his good and he seems to be happy with way he is looked after.
The home is a very pleasant place to sit after you have had a meal. There are two lounges to choose from. My husband was taken ill recently by the paramedics and ambulance people were very kind and came very quickly. The nurse here and the care staff helped them to make sure he was comfortable until they took him to hospital.
The home is welcoming when I arrive and staff find time to answer any questions or concerns we may have which is very helpful as we live some distance from Oxford. For example the Head of Home recently contacted the residents' GP on our behalf to discuss a complex issue, and came back very quickly with the response and further advice. The nursing staff seem kind.
My husband has been in Green Gates for one month. We find the staff very caring , considerate and extremely friendly. Nothing seems too much trouble for them. I think the idea of being able to visit my husband anytime and at my convenience is marvelous.
My son has been in Green Gates for four months following a severe haemorrhagic stroke, and he has been very well looked after by all the lovely nurses and carers who have to do so much for him. They are unfailingly kind and cheerful, and indeed all the staff are friendly and ready to help, creating a good atmosphere in the home.
The home itself seems comfortable and well run with a beautiful outdoor area. The staff appear to be attentive and caring and the resident seems to be happy and contented. Frequent visits from a doctor, a chiropodist and a hairdresser are very welcome.
Visiting mum on a warm Sunday afternoon. Sleeping and comfy. Blind with dementia. Staff excellent. A difficult job but good team work. This is mum's home.
The staff are very friendly and kind and will go out of their way to accommodate any requests by the resident or family. The nursing staff work together with the weekly visit from the GP and information is quickly past on to the residents family.
My first priority is for my husband to be well cared for, well fed & clean & safe. Green Gates meets these requirements however, Bupa seem to be reviewing guidelines & practices & t create an image that seems clinical & institutional & not adapted to the individual home. Carers sometimes appear overwhelmed by new rules & management are conspicuous by their absence, indeed some residents do not know who the manager is. I admire all these staff for their dedication, I think the manager is lucky to have such a caring team. Instead of more posters & target info on walls one to one talk or praise would impress me more.
So ready to listen to suggestions. Quick to find solutions to issues raised. Feel the majority of staff are extremely helpful and positive to all requests. The activities are varied and engaging, inclusive and respectful to both me and my lifetime civil partner. Thank you!
Following 2 falls at home my mother was unable to continue living independently at home and we transferred her for care at Green Gates. It took a while for her to adjust to the new way of life as so many new faces and names were confusing for her. The medical staff were very careful to assess her needs and the transfer of Doctor to the Care home practitioner was a relief for all the family. She is still struggling with the food and needs to encouraged to eat as she no longer has access to her choices but the carers are patiently getting her adjusted. From my point of view we are satisfied that she is being well looked after and safe in her new environment. My only slightly negative comment is that the staff cover at weekends is very stretched and laundry items seem to disappear regularly.
The carers are always kind and cheerful, and I'm grateful my husband is being so well looked after. The admin, kitchen, and cleaning staff are very helpful too, and everyone makes me feel welcome. Thank you all.
I have been living in Green Gates for six years and am happy here. I have a lovely room which looks on to the garden. I am well-fed and well-looked after. I feel safe and secure here and get value for money.
The carers and staff continue to be excellent and a recent fall has shown me once again how well I am supported. I am very grateful to all concerned. The food is always well prepared and presented and I am very pleased to be starting my 4th year here.
Always helpful and friendly. All staff try their best. Impressed with the cleanliness. Just a proposal: an intercom system at the main door would be great if a visitor needs to speak to the reception before entering the building. Will you be able to convey this proposal to the relevant department?
My mother has recently celebrated her 100th birthday at Green Gates. The staff could not have done more to make it a wonderfully memorable occasion: delicious home-prepared food and lovely cake at her tea party; beautiful decorations and a huge welcome for all our family, including seven great-grandchildren, who had such fun. The managers made all the arrangements, the kitchen staff served excellent refreshments and the carers got my mother ready and looked after her so kindly and skilfully. They made it a very special occasion for all the family. My mother has been at Green Gates for 18 months, after a series of falls and breaking her hip. She was very frail and confused but the excellent nursing care has made her much more comfortable and happily settled. We have met so much kindness and love from the excellent carers, nurses and managers. We are always welcomed as visitors at any time.
The general experience of being a care home resident at Green Gates Care Home is ok but there seems to be a disconnect between staff and management. The staff are struggling with heavy workloads and insufficient praise and support from management who are mostly invisible to residents and seem not to be involved with them personally. Facilities like baths are not available, having been converted into an equipment store room. Activities seem patchy and unpredictable, although good when delivered e.g. Owls and penguin contact.
Most of the staff are helpful. The food is lovely. I am able to choose what I eat. I have some good friends. My room needs painting.
I have been in Green Gates for a year now. Prior to this, I have only been in other homes for short periods. This is by far the best. The food is varied. The staff are very respectful in working, showing and cleaning. I make the effort to join in as many of the plentiful activities as I can. I look forward to the activities which are well organised this winter.
