View full details of ChurchfieldsMy father has spent almost 6 months at Churchfield, a period which started with an emergency respite care admission under very difficult circumstances which was compassionately and competently handled. He is now a permanent resident and despite presenting many difficulties in his personal life as well as his health, has settled down due to the patience and endless good humour of the staff. Churchfield has a cosy family atmosphere, with an emphasis on keeping residents busy, but it's also very efficiently run when it comes to meeting the challenging health care demands of many residents. The staff are painstaking and experienced and diligent about keeping relatives involved about developments in the care of their loved ones. It's probably unfair to single any one person out, but Sharon, the manager, leads brilliantly from the front.
Although my husband does not appreciate the care he is receiving, as a family we are very grateful he is safe and well cared for. He is well fed; having put back on the weight he lost during an 8 week hospital stay and has been known to take part in some of the variety of activities on offer. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and it is reassuring to know there is 24 hour nursing care.
My husband has Parkinson's and confined to a wheelchair. He originally had several periods of respite care here early in 2025.Due to my own ill health he has now been a resident at Churchfields since August 2025. He is looked after exceptionally well and treated with dignity and compassion. The carers are amazingly empathetic and really seem to know him well as an individual. He enjoys all the activities and joins in with enthusiasm and interest. He has told me : 'They look after me well here'. In the summer he was able to sit outside on the terrace and to enjoy playing boules and table tennis from his wheelchair in the lovely gardens. I am impressed with the different activities the home provides.Live music, visits from an owl sanctuary,Shetland pony visits as well as physical activities and trips out in the minibus. I have every confidence in the staff and management to look after my husband in a safe and caring environment.I would highly recommend Churchfields Care Home.
My wife has received excellent care during the time she has been in the care home. A well run home with very good and caring staff. There is a lovely patio area at the rear of the care home that is a good asset in the summer.
My mum became a respite resident in July 2025 (suffering with dementia), from the initial meeting with Sharon (care home manager) and meeting the senior team we realised very quickly that we had made the right decision. I visit at least 3 times a week and I'm always greeted in a professional and friendly way and my mum is always participating in activities and regular trips out in the minibus to local clubs. I love the regular social media posts that show the activities and the residents including my mum appear to be happy and engaged. I'm sure there are stressful times for the Churchfields team, but I've never seen this, they are always smiling and happy to help. Recently the flu virus hit the care home, Sharon and her team kept us up to date on the situation and still made you feel welcome and making sure that the residents where well looked after. My first experience of Christmas in a care home.......it was fantastic! As always THANKS!
My dad has settled in really well since moving into Churchfields last year, He is being cared for great by all the carers and nurses. They do lots of activities with them every day and the activities team are great.
My mother was a resident at Churchfields for over five years. Churchfields was chosen because it felt homely (the opposite to institutional) and wasn't too large - and what an excellent decision that turned out to be! Over the years, my mother was treated with warmth, care and respect. Her wants, needs, and interests were sought out and attended to. This meant that her dignity and individual persona were preserved while she suffered from severe dementia. As my mother's representative, I always felt welcomed by staff. They were understanding and supportive - and my concerns were always listened to and addressed. I will always be grateful for the quality of care that my mother (and I) received.
If I could give six stars to Churchfields I would. Our whole experience of settling our mother - from first contact, a visit from us daughters, a video visit, a visit with mum, to the process of integrating her into the life and family of the home was both highly professional and deeply human: exemplary. I can say with sincerity that it is the most powerful example of individual-centred care in a genuine community setting that I have ever witnessed. Despite the advanced stage of her illness, our mother found a happiness and home in Churchfields we could not have imagined before. She appreciated the food, the activities and the ambiance and most of all the people - and it was very clear to us that all the staff at all levels, appreciated her. The combination of nursing with ''whole person'' care in such a warm, clean, bright and kind setting is remarkable. Their subtle accompaniment to her and us in her final days and hours was indispensable and of enormous comfort to her and all of us.
My mother sadly passed away recently but had been resident at Churchfields for two years suffering from dementia. The care she received there was outstanding throughout. All the staff are incredibly invested in the wellbeing of the residents, and because of this they are happy, well looked after, well fed and kept clean and hygienic. There are activities daily, and residents are encouraged to take part. There is also an emphasis on maintaining self-esteem through things like a hairdressing salon, nail care etc. The grounds are lovely, with amazing gardens and occasional trips to the local pub. As a visitor you are always made very welcome, and in fact my father (who used to visit twice a week for lunch from his nearby flat) was treated as one of the family. The care home manager Sharon is incredibly committed and as she said to me recently: 'The end of someone's life is just as important as every other part and I'm glad we could help.' This attitude is exactly why this place is so good
I go into the home probably twice a week to visit they are all such helpful staff and would do anything to help in any way they could the home is spotless the activities are great and they certainly take them out and about when able too
My Dad has been very well looked after since arriving after his stroke, getting back to a normal way of living, when in hospital was in bed most of the day,but now up and about, with either his walker or wheel chair. Very friendly staff and very professioal in what they do.
Dad, and previously Mum, as well, are well looked after by the staff who go out of their way to help and support Dad, every day. The warmth and empathy shown not only to Dad but also members of the family, after Mum died has been excellent, for which we are all grateful. I would happily recommend Churchfields, to others.
My husband was admitted to the Home with the prognosis of weeks to live but with the great care provided is still there after more than five months. There is such a great friendly staff who look after him so well and have really become friends. Confined mostly to his room I rely on them to provide all the care I am not able to at home. His medications and dressings are all looked after well, clothing laundered daily and all his needs met. Visitors are also welcomed warmly and looked after. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Home to anyone in need.
My aunt entered the home for respite care and it quickly became clear that this would be a suitable 'forever home' for her. The staff from top to bottom are friendly, caring and compassionate. I would not hesitate in recommending it.
I am very pleased with how Mum has settled into Churchfields, she has advanced Dementia and after helping look after her for a few months before my Father passed I knew how difficult it was to care for her ! But my worries were soon calmed as the staff there are very attentive and caring. The home is always spotless and there is a real comforting feel about the place. We looked at two nursing homes before we had a meeting at Churchfields and knew this was where Mum would be happier. I would recommend Churchfields to anyone with confidence.
I have been here for 6 months and I am happy here. I enjoy all the activities we do at Churchfields. I sometimes struggle with the menu as the food can be a bit bland overall, but I am happy, though. All the staff are great and made me so welcome when I arrived, also kind. I have made lots of friends and enjoy our outings out in the minibus.
after finding it difficult to cope with my husband at home I needed to find somewhere to look after him. I visited many care homes and after speaking with the manager decided on Churchfields.I was impressed with the sense of family in the home and the carers are all very nice. As there are only a small amount of residents everyone gets one to one treatment. the food in the home is amazing and I know my husband enjoys it very much.I can recommend this home to anyone who needs reassurance their loved one will be cared for.
Very unusually ( and unfortunately, I have had quite a lot of experience of visiting care homes )the entire purpose of Churchfields seems to be devoted to the care and comfort of it's residents! They are cared for as individuals, constantly asked to make their own choices, and it's clear that the staff take time and trouble to get to know them individually and learn their preferences. They are always treated with great respect, and also, it appears, with affection. I was really hoping to have been able to look after my wonderful husband as long as he required it, and desperately sad that at a certain point, I could no longer continue. During his first experience in a residential home, I was constantly worried about him, as his very obvious needs were not being met, even when I tried to discuss them. At Churchfields, I can constantly relax at the thought of him, as I really believe they are doing a better job than I could, even if I were entirely fit and healthy. My rating for Cleanliness relates to the floors.
We tried out Churchfields for two weeks respite to see how my partner would feel if she needed to come for longer due to her deteriorating dementia. She has been so well cared for, encouraged and supported that we are both sure Churchfields will be a home from home when the time comes. A pleasant friendly atmosphere, kind and attentive staff - all makes Churchfields distinctively different and outstanding.
We were incredibly pleased with the care given , the carers were patient ,kind and patient and always cheerful. My husband was very poorly when he entered the home but over time he has regained his strength with everyone's help so thankyou . We would not hesitate to use the home again if needed .
