View full details of Arbrook House Care HomeThe Arbrook Team have looked after Dad so well since he arrived 4 years ago and as his dementia worsened. Initially he was able to participate in activities which he enjoyed and the staff have always been kind and patient. Towards the end when Dad really was very unwell he did not have any bed sores and the team were understanding and gentle. They were also helpful when we applied for funding and very attentive when he was dying. He died at the beginning of December 2025. I would highly recommend Arbrook mainly because of the team which is the most important aspect of care.
My mum, was here Nov-25 and sadly passed away at Arbrook. She stayed about a month and she was treated very well indeed. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and paid attention to my mum's needs. I am very grateful she was in their care. Food in the restaurant was decent and facilities clean and tidy. Thank you.
The care has been very good. Every single member of staff is kind, very capable, and totally non-judgmental. The activities are good and varied (like the music). My only criticism is the pureed food. I like that the chef purees the separate items separately, but the taste of the main ingredient is not pleasant. suggest: add grated cheese, or anything to improve the taste. Otherwise, Arbrook House is an excellent care home.
My brother spent the last week of his life at Arbrook House, a beautiful and caring environment, and he was so pleased to be 'back home'. Chef produced the most wonderful pureed meals for him - even though his time there was short - the staff knew that he was a real trooper. I was there every day, and there was always a good feeling as you walked through the doors. Beautiful surroundings, wonderful staff, nothing was too much trouble, they went above and beyond. It is a good place to be if you need care.
I have been impressed by the way the staff continuously assess the potential needs and preferences of the resident I know and offered care and support with understanding and patience, ensuring his dignity is maintained. The staff are always concerned and willing to listen to ensure the care they give is of a high standard.
My experience of Arbrook House from the moment I was shown around the nursing home was both warm and welcoming. I was very impressed at the high standard of all facilities and cleanliness. The staff have been very attentive and gone out of their way to make my brother feel as comfortable as possible. Management and nurses have been excellent in keeping me updated about his condition and medication. As my brother is being treated as end of life, the nurses have been excellent in keeping me informed of what to expect. When visiting, we have always been welcomed by staff, telling us where my brother was, either in one of the lounges or in his room, and also offered tea and coffee. It has also been wonderful to be able to join my brother for lunch along with other family members. Another bonus was being able to take our little dog in which has brought great comfort to my brother (and other residents!).
After over a year, we are still so pleased with the care that my mother is receiving. The home is run with a tremendous sense of family, and the staff do everything to make the residents feel cared for, respected, safe and valued. The management team are amazing and responds to anything quickly and efficiently to ensure the highest level of care. I can wholeheartedly recommend Arbrook House, and frequently do. Thank you so much for doing such a good job.
I was accepted by Arbrook House Care Home after many other homes would not cope with me and my renal dialysis. I have settled happily.
Having checked out a number of care homes before Arbrook, we are delighted with the choice we made. Arbrook lives up to all our expectations of a nursing home, and my wife settled in and is as happy as we can expect due to her unfortunate condition. Everyone here is very caring and she seems to be attached to everyone. She eats well, which is a surprise because before she came, she hardly ate at all.
My husband has been a resident in Arbrook House for just over 1 year. He is suffering from multiple health issues vis: immobility, incontinence, dementia and an autoimmune skin condition. He requires 24-hour care, which is provided at Arbook by professional management, efficient nursing and extremely caring "care staff", who look after his complex needs, always with a smile and a helpful attitude, even when confronted with a work load. I feel he is in "safe" hands and a happy environment.
All the staff at Arbrook do an excellent job. They are continuously looking for ways to improve and always follow up on feedback and suggestions. The food options are outstanding. The grounds are stunning, and it is a lovely, caring environment. Residents are well looked after, with all their needs met, no matter how big or small their requests are. The staff always find a way to try to accommodate them.
My father was a resident in Arbrook House Care Home since 2017 until his recent death. I have the highest regard for Arbrook. My father was so well looked after by a very caring and professional team. The facilities are excellent and the rooms are great. He also loved the beautiful gardens. Thank you so much for everything.
Our mother was admitted to Arbrook house, in the later stages of her life. We (myself, my sister and brother), were very grateful to admit our mum into somewhere so pleasant. The home is lovely, as are the grounds, and all the staff creating a pleasant and caring environment. Our mother's needs changed over time, and the nurses and wider team knew exactly how to adapt the care she needed, giving her a dignified stay in challenging circumstances. The staff's support also extended to ourselves, ensuring we had everything we needed, including meals and allowing us to stay with our mum as she approached the end of her time. The holistic support was a great comfort and relief to us. Furthermore, the management team were always seeking and responsive to feedback. We would recommend this hope highly and are very grateful to everyone associated with the home and wider firm.
Respite care was a pleasant experience, and I tried to make the most of what was available. Care was kind and caring, but care givers were often under pressure because of staff shortages, resulting in them feeling overworked, and residents let down having to wait for most basic of personal needs to be addressed. I enjoyed interacting with the staff, particularly the younger ones from foreign countries. I was very touched on receiving a card and flowers for my birthday just after arrival which was very thoughtful and much appreciated. The grounds are very attractive but unfortunately access to the lake and surrounding area is poor, the right-hand path was closed for the 5 weeks of my stay. The left side path is steep with a gate difficult to operate, not ideal. Goose droppings everywhere are very unpleasant. General maintenance can be an issue as painfully slow. Access for visitors is very welcoming and relaxed, lunch with residents possible and tea and biscuits always available, drinks and ice cream on a hot day a bonus and greatly enjoyed! Food was good on the whole but weekly menus are very unbalanced e.g. lots of pies/pastry dishes or pasta dishes in quick succession and the vegetables always overcooked! Lunch for carers needs to be scheduled so that residents can be taken back to their rooms without a frustrating wait.
Our Mum was looked after at Arbrook House Care Home for the last 10 months of her life. She died in March 2025. She needed full time supplementary oxygen support as she had Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. I'd like to pay tribute to the manager and all of their team at Arbrook House for the wonderful, care and support they provided Mum. She was very happy there. Everyone, from the nursing and care staff, to the catering staff and the maintenance staff all deserve our praise and grateful thanks. I have no hesitation in recommending Arbrook House to anyone considering a nursing or care home for their loved one.
Items marked good are not a downgrade but we are unable to utilise and have had no previous experience.
My mother, a Quadriplegic with complex needs lived at Arbrook House for 8 years till her recent death at 104yrs. She was very happy, relaxed & comfortable there. She liked the friendly caring staff, her bright room, extensive grounds & fresh foods tailored to her needs. The ongoing physio support maximised her mobility. She could not have been in a better familiar place with her well trained care team who knew her well & were very practiced about End of Life care, working closely with the hospice. The home deserves its Outstanding CQC rating
Mum's so happy living at Arbrook House Care Home. Her room looks over the gorgeous patio garden. She loves her visits down to the lake to feed the ducks. She enjoys her lunches with her table of friends. She particularly loves the harpist & the celloist when they do concerts. I wish there was a dedicated meal plan for diabetics. There must be a lot of residents with type 2 diabetes who would also benefit. She really enjoys her time with the physio who provides 1-2-1 sessions twice a week.
My mum moved into Arbrook House just over a month ago, under palliative care and I cannot express enough how much of a weight has been lifted off our shoulders. Despite her failing health, she is the happiest she ahs been in months and to see her so well looked after is true peace of mind. Every member of staff, from management through to the gardener, chef, handiman, cleaning staff and of course the wonderful carers and nurses has been outstanding in every way. Thank you.
My mother has been a resident at Arbrook House for 8 years. I cannot rate the care, compassion and kindness shown to her by all staff highly enough. Nothing has been too much trouble. The patience of all the carers and the professionalism of all managerial staff is outstanding. I was always made to feel welcome and no one was ever too busy to stop and chat with me. I would especially like to mention the dignity that my mother was shown in her final days. Thank you so much to everyone at Arbrook House.
