View Full Details of Collingwood Grange Care HomeMy mother was given a very warm welcome, and immediately we all felt she was safe and well cared for. The manager, Maria, was never too busy to speak with us and deal with any issues. Care staff and nursing staff were very attentive, and friendly. My mother was at another care home and we never left feeling good, seeing staff ignore residents, or worse, berate them. At Collingwood Grange, we know my mother is in good hands, and will always be safe.
Dad has been at Collingwood Grange for 10 months. He was admitted bed bound, weak and confused. He is now much less confused, no longer bed bound and much better than he was in hospital after his stroke. He is happy and feels safe. He loves the fact the "small brown hairy thing" can visit (my dog watson).
As the daughter of the resident, I love to visit my mother who is a fairly new arrival to your friendly, professionally r-n home. It's very comforting to visit and leave knowing that mum is in the best place to keep her safe and well looked after. The staff are wonderful, starting with the receptionist and everyone who work so hard to make the residents remaining days a pleasure to be alive.
This home was recommended to me by a close relative & I can see why. From receptionist to cleaners & all nurses inbetween they are exceptionally kind, caring people. They are all so cheerful & friendly & go the extra mile at all times to ensure patients are well cared for. They even make us feel wanted too & nothing seems like too much trouble. Very good range of activities & place is so clean. Food's great & wouldn't recommend anywhere else other than Collingwood Grange.
So disappointing .. Not sure my mother is being fed, do they feed her when I'm not there? No one else was being fed by staff. She needed changing and I had an eye roll! Do they assist her with drinking? The drinks in her room when I turned up were warm. Does anyone truly care in the care profession? The room is small and incredibly dark, even in the middle of summer.
A huge thank you to all the team. I think Collingwood Grange should be celebrated for the incredible care my darling mother received during her stay. From the care, love, support and medical team, everyone we encountered made her stay a wonderful experience. Also, the care and support we, as relatives, received as well.
The report refers to my wife's first month: Very impressive! An excellent start.
My mother-in-law moved into the home back in March 2025 and despite not wanting to leave her flat she did like her room. When I talked with her the day after the move she told me she was glad she moved into the home as the staff were so lovely and she had a lovely big and airy room. Despite being in hospital for a while just after moving in the staff were so kind and helpful and made sure she was comfortable. May 25th mum-in-law passed away peacefully but every single member of staff who cared for her played there part and, although we stayed with her for a while after, we felt the staff left us to say our goodbyes and were very supportive when we left. Each and every member of staff, from receptionist to nurse played there part and I can't speak highly enough of them
My mother moved into Collingwood Grange in March. The staff are all wonderful and have treated her with great kindness. They also regularly keep me updated on all aspects of her care and any liaison with the GP. She has a lovely, spacious room and there are lots of activities to join in with. The home is clean and welcoming.
Be Very Careful! After 3 months of relatively quiet occupation our father developed challenging behaviour, becoming aggressive and agitated, for, as yet, reasons unknown. Collingwood sent him to hospital for tests (unnecessary) and evicted him on the same day while he was away from the premises. They have no experience at this home for anyone who develops these symptoms.
Both my parents have been cared for at Collingwood Grange, my father for five years, and my mother for many years. The food, drink and facilities are very good and a lot of activities and the care and support are excellent and treated with great kindness and dignity.
My mum has only been at the home since December 2024 and whenever I visit, I am warmly greeted by the lovely reception staff. All of the staff are kind and friendly and take very good care of my mum. There are plenty of activities that take place to keep everyone busy and entertained. The home is cleaned to a high standard. The rooms are big and spacious and feel very homely and the most important thing is my mum is very happy.
My mother in law has been in Collingwood Grange for 3 years and she has been looked after very well. The staff are wonderful, especially one staff member on reception. She has her hair done weekly and the lovely ladies paint her nails. She attends all the activities which she really enjoys. We would highly recommend Collingwood.
Right from the start when I visited Collingwood Grange Care Home, I was impressed, this was last October for respite care. Then in April of this year my friend became a permanent resident. You are treated as family, always a friendly welcome. The nurses are caring and patient. The care home is spotlessly clean and since the arrival of their new chef, the food has improved. It is no wonder that Collingwood has received a good inspection from CQC.
Until March this year, my mother had been cared for at home. She fell out of bed and had to go to hospital, she wasn't allowed to go home so I started looking for a nursing home. I had seen a few and was not happy with them. I was then told Collingwood Grange had a vacancy as soon as I saw the room I knew it would be perfect. Mum came here in April. I am so grateful to the staff who nurse her, they are so kind and patient. She is treated with respect and all her needs are met. All the staff here are kind and friendly, she couldn't be better cared for.
My wife has been a resident now since April 2024, having had respite care here in January 2024. My daughter and I consider Collingwood Grange Care Home to be very much the best care home in our area. Having visited a number of other homes, we believe Collingwood Grange to be the very best we have seen both for its staff and for its cleanliness and value.
I have seen significant difference in Collingwood Grange Care Home since the manager has been managing. The care is more personable and the environment more welcoming. One of the sisters is outstanding, very caring, keeps me informed and listens and acts on any requests. Sadly my mother in law is at end of life, but we could not wish for her to be looked after by anyone else. Collingwood are ensuring that her final weeks are as comfortable as they can be.
Mum is much stronger since moving to Collingwood Grange Care Home. The care staff and nurses are exceptional, very kind and caring. Pleased that we chose Collingwood Grange.
My wife has Alzheimer's and also has had a stroke meaning she has very limited speech and does not understand how to use the call button. She is paralysed on the right side and her right arm is very painful. She is incontinent. The management has agreed on a plan to have her checked regularly to see if she needs anything. This is not happening. I visit every weekday from 1:20 to 3:40. Quite often on Monday and Friday I have to call the carer before I leave (2 hours 10 mins). If this is happening when I am there, what is happening when I am not here?
I could not wish for better care for my wife aged 79. She has been at Collingwood Grange since March 2022. She is bedridden and has to be washed, dressed, and fed. The facilities are excellent and the staff is friendly, kind and caring. The Management listens and takes on board all suggestions and actions as appropriate following regular meetings.
