Overall Experience

We had to bring my dad to Collingwood Grange under some very difficult circumstances. The experience was made so much better by the wonderful help and care of all the staff. All the staff were very friendly and so caring. They communicate any issues very effectively and am assured that they are giving my dad the very best of care. Our family are very grateful for all the help they have given us

The only thing that I think could be improved is that the garden needs some money spent on it and some landscaping to bring it back to life a bit. It is a lovely space but just needs a bit of love.

We are immensely grateful to the Bupa team for the exceptional support they gave both our aunt and our family as we navigated the unfamiliar process of arranging residential care.
As our aunt's health declined, we realised she needed more support. From our first enquiry, we received clear, patient and compassionate guidance, helping us understand the options available and making what felt like an overwhelming situation much easier to manage. Visiting Collingwood Grange reassured us that it was the right choice.

Our aunt was warmly welcomed and helped to settle into her new surroundings. Throughout her stay, every member of staff we met was friendly, professional and genuinely caring, always putting the wellbeing and dignity of residents first. We were especially grateful for the compassion and reassurance shown to both our aunt and our family during some very challenging times. We will always be thankful for the outstanding care and kindness provided by everyone at Collingwood Grange.

Care home staff continue to be unable to fit resident's catheter bag properly, including not putting on protective sleeve first leading to sore leg and resident discomfort. This ongoing issue has caused great concern to residents next of kin.

It is the hardest thing to do, accepting that you can't look after those you love the most. Staff at Collingwood Grange, from day 1, have shown the most incredible care and compassion, not only to Dad but to us as a family. They have led me through important assessments, guiding me as much as was needed. They have taken care of Dad and made the most difficult decision bearable. Jane, on Reception, is absolutely wonderful. We are all known by our first names and nothing is too much trouble. Maria is kind, caring and has given me some wonderful, important advice during the past few months. Karen has led me through bureaucracy with efficiency and a smile and Amanda has tried very hard to encourage Dad to join in! There are too many names to mention but I would like to thank them all. They are doing a wonderful job.

My mother has been a resident at Collingwood Grange Care Home or about nine months, and in my opinion she is receiving excellent care. Before that, she lived in her own house, but she has been bed bound following a fall. She appreciates all the support that she receives from the staff, and this has helped her to accept and be positive about her situation. The staff are professional and friendly, and they ensure that she has meals, medication, laundry changing etc at the right times every day. My brothers, myself and other visitors are always welcome.

My mother was given a very warm welcome, and immediately we all felt she was safe and well cared for. The manager, Maria, was never too busy to speak with us and deal with any issues. Care staff and nursing staff were very attentive, and friendly. My mother was at another care home and we never left feeling good, seeing staff ignore residents, or worse, berate them. At Collingwood Grange, we know my mother is in good hands, and will always be safe.

Dad has been at Collingwood Grange for 10 months. He was admitted bed bound, weak and confused. He is now much less confused, no longer bed bound and much better than he was in hospital after his stroke. He is happy and feels safe. He loves the fact the "small brown hairy thing" can visit (my dog watson).

As the daughter of the resident, I love to visit my mother who is a fairly new arrival to your friendly, professionally r-n home. It's very comforting to visit and leave knowing that mum is in the best place to keep her safe and well looked after. This home was recommended to me by a close relative & I can see why. From receptionist to cleaners & all nurses inbetween they are exceptionally kind, caring people. So disappointing ..
Not sure my mother is being fed, do they feed her when I'm not there? No one else was being fed by staff.
She needed changing and I had an eye roll!
Do they assist her with drinking? The drinks in her room when I turned up were warm.
Does anyone truly care in the care profession?

The room is small and incredibly dark, even in the middle of summer.

A huge thank you to all the team. I think Collingwood Grange should be celebrated for the incredible care my darling mother received during her stay. From the care, love, support and medical team, everyone we encountered made her stay a wonderful experience. Also, the care and support we, as relatives, received as well.

My mother-in-law moved into the home back in March 2025 and despite not wanting to leave her flat she did like her room. When I talked with her the day after the move she told me she was glad she moved into the home as the staff were so lovely and she had a lovely big and airy room. Despite being in hospital for a while just after moving in the staff were so kind and helpful and made sure she was comfortable. May 25th mum-in-law passed away peacefully but every single member of staff who cared for her played there part and, although we stayed with her for a while after, we felt the staff left us to say our goodbyes and were very supportive when we left. Each and every member of staff, from receptionist to nurse played there part and I can't speak highly enough of them

My mother moved into Collingwood Grange in March. The staff are all wonderful and have treated her with great kindness. Be Very Careful! After 3 months of relatively quiet occupation our father developed challenging behaviour, becoming aggressive and agitated, for, as yet, reasons unknown. Collingwood sent him to hospital for tests (unnecessary) and evicted him on the same day while he was away from the premises. They have no experience at this home for anyone who develops these symptoms.

Hi Andrew, we're really disappointed to read your comments, this isn't representative of our usual standards of care. The welfare of our residents is a priority across our homes. We can't discuss specific cases or personal details here, but we've spoken to the home, and we understand there has been conversations with yourself, and others relating to these points.

My mum has only been at the home since December 2024 and whenever I visit, I am warmly greeted by the lovely reception staff. All of the staff are kind and friendly and take very good care of my mum. There are plenty of activities that take place to keep everyone busy and entertained. The home is cleaned to a high standard. The rooms are big and spacious and feel very homely and the most important thing is my mum is very happy.
