Overall Experience
My wife had a fortnight stay at Collingwood and found the home 1st class.
The staff were very attentive to her needs (she had a stroke in September 2014) and always made sure she was comfortable.

The management were always polite and ready to answer any problems I had.

My wife only spent five days in this home and passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. In the short time spent, she came to love her surroundings in a very comfortable room.
It was the staff though, with the care and love that was shown at all times to her. She relied happily on everything the staff did for her, always showing such care and consideration that I have never experienced before. It must be said the staff were a team and seemed to work as one from management down.

Thank you.

After investigating the care homes in the area and visiting a couple on our short list, Collingwood Grange was the obvious choice. An important factor in the choice, besides the friendliness, ambience, cleanliness and approach of the staff was that Collingwood Grange was near enough for my 95-year-old father (her brother-in-law) to easily visit. Collingwood Grange also invited my father to visit and have lunch with my aunt, which he did each Wednesday and Sunday, reflecting the social arrangement they had developed since my mother died in 2001.
Collingwood Grange staff went overboard to make my aunt's room personal to her, allowing her to bring in her own recliner/riser chair, her pictures which were hung on the wall and her ornaments, which were displayed on a shelf which was specially installed for her.
We were always made welcome whenever visiting Collingwood Grange. I have heard similar reports from several of my aunt's friends, who also visited her.
The nursing care was excellent. The nursing staff kept me informed and alerted me to their concerns. The resident experience manager's efforts in arranging "those little things in life" which make the difference, was excellent.

Collingwood Grange may appear slightly more expensive but the quality of care more than warrants the extra cost.

My father has been here for 4 1/2 years and at no time have we ever felt that he hasn't received the very best most tender treatment.

We would definitely recommend Collingwood Grange to anyone else whose loved ones were in a similar condition. Thank you to all from our whole family.

I find the care home to be very efficient and friendly, but also homely. Visiting is very flexible, in fact, you can visit at any time. Also, pets are welcome (which makes my husband's day).

Reply from Jayne Duck, Customer Services Administrator at Collingwood Grange Care Home

Thank you for your review. It is the little things like a smile or pets visiting that makes all the difference and a more homely feel.

I don't quite know where to begin, suffice to say many more staff than I was initially aware displayed compassion, care and genuine affection for my mother in her last years and did so to a degree I cannot fully or adequately write.
On a more practical note, the rooms are large and pleasant and personally decorated as you may wish with whatever furnishings you may wish to supply.

The management and staff have become like a family and I hope to remain in contact with them and visit them occasionally.

My 90-year-old mother has been a resident for 9 months.
She was a very reluctant resident at first but has mellowed and now enjoys her time more or less.
Care is good - Mum has favourites.
She enjoys physical activities.
Lacks stimulation from other residents. There are many dementia residents - Mum is very lucid and struggles with others' disabilities.
Care is very expensive.
Communication is good between the care home and myself.
Mum will make sure to let it be known if she is unhappy with any aspect of care.

Her one complaint is lack of time of the staff to spend with her - always rushing.

Since my mum moved into Collingwood Grange in January 2017 we have been so impressed with the level of care. Communication with/from the home has been excellent and we have been made aware of any issues as they have arisen. Special mentions must go to the Registered Nurse who knows all of my mum's needs and concerns, and the Resident Experience Manager who has been excellent in helping us (including organising her 80th birthday). Thank you!

Having looked at ten care homes we were very lucky to find Collingwood Grange. From entering the building we had a feeling of well being and this was reinforced after a tour of the property. Our decision to place my mother into Collingwood Grange was made that day after a consultation with the manager. After 3 months of care for my mother, we have no complaints. All of the staff and management are of the highest calibre.

An exceptional home, mum loves the staff. In fact, they are wonderful. So kind and caring from the management, nurses, cleaners and the maintenance man. Nothing is a problem for them. The home is spotlessly clean, mum has a lovely well-kept room, they have a beautiful garden for the residents to sit in, in the summer.

Fantastic meals mum has put on weight there is so much variety and she chooses her menu her self.

Mum loves the trips that are arranged for her, they are so good, they have got mum to join in where she wouldn't be for.
Collingwood Grange is a very happy place, if any one is looking for a home for a relative this is the home I would choose.

I would like to end by thanking everyone who looks after my mum for us.

When we were asked to find an end of life care home for my mum we initially rejected Collingwood Grange based on a report from 2015. However we we undertook to view the facilities anyway. The minute we got there it just felt right. The room, was far superior to anything else we had viewed so mum moved in. Mum loved it here. She was treated with respect and love, the nurses and carers were attentive, supportive and genuinely lovely people. Facilities clean and lovely garden. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone.

I had a need to find a new nursing home for my husbands respite stays, for this year as well as two periods during the year. I wanted a slot at the end of December 2016 into January 2017 to visit family in India. I was looking for a home that would take a booking for a year ahead. Luckily a friend visited her friend, who was living at Collingwood Grange, she spoke to the manager who suggested he may be able to help us. I visited the home and immediately knew it would work. The atmosphere and the positive approach of everyone I met, gave me confidence. When I visited with my husband he felt the same. He has just completed a successful 2 week stay. He will return in the autumn and then in late December.

During my uncle's 15 month stay (until his death on 19/04/2016) I could not have asked for better care for him from all the staff. In particular the senior nurse. He was always treated with care and dignity even though he had a catheter through his stomach and also had dementia. He was treated as one would treat a favourite uncle, what more could I ask for! Also the admin staff were extremely helpful to me and deserve a mention. It was a pleasure to go into the home and to know it would always be clean, safe, welcoming and friendly. Having had experience (with other family members) of 7 other care homes, I can say that Collingwood Grange is by far the best.

My relative was cared for for 15 months. He was suffering from increasing dementia but was always cheerful and praising the care and attention given by the staff. We visited twice a month and were always impressed with the staff on duty. Nothing was too much trouble. If there were any issues they were immediately sorted quickly and calmly. We were responsible for our relative under a court of protection order and the home always rang us with any ongoing medical issues. They kept us fully informed at all times. We had experiences of 7 other care homes and I firmly believe Collingwood Grange was by far the best.
