During this very difficult time for care homes, with the Covid pandemic still proving problematic, Collingwood continues to be very supportive of our family and have facilitated contact with Mum throughout this last year via weekly supported zoom calls, promptly answered emails, assistance with practical things like resolving a broken telephone, and prompt contact during times when Mum has been unwell. With many of the family living considerable distances away, this has been so helpful for all of us and for Mum.

My father was at Collingwood Grange for the last years of his life. As I live abroad, visiting in the last 12 months have been quite difficult, but the staff at Collingwood could not be more helpful. With regular video calls and e-mails updates, I was always fully informed as to how Dad was doing. When I was able to visit the staff could not be more accommodating. My dad was well cared for and it helped me a great deal knowing he was safe from harm in these very difficult times.

I never thought that I would like being in a care home. Since I have been there I have changed my mind. There have been several little problems but they have been sorted out. Since the lockdown, we haven't had a hairdresser so consequently, my hair had been very long. Yesterday a very lovely young woman cut and set my hair, it made me so happy.

The British United Provident Association (BUPA) was the care provider my husband and I chose when ten years ago we were forced through ill-health to sell our house. My husband received every care during the last five years of his life - that care continues now for me. I am delighted and very relieved to see that there is extra staff on the floors by day and night. The stress is very dangerous. At this time of pandemic, their dedication is total.

My mother has been at Collingwood Grange Care Home for 1.5 years. There are a few excellent key staff but too many agency staff who don't seem to be able to offer the level of care. The 'COVID' visits are ridiculous with 2m separation, a glass screen in between and face masks - my mother, like a lot of other residents, struggles to hear! This is bad for her mental health. Breakfast is often late and the staff don't seem to be able to spend any time with her.

Collingwood Grange is the perfect home for my mother's stay. It is comfortable, welcoming and Mum is very comfortable in her room. The staff are excellent. They are caring and always contact me if even the smallest problem occurs with regard to Mum's health. The management team are approachable and most helpful. Food is very good.

This has been a difficult and worrying time when we have kept in touch with Mum by zoom. My sisters, brother, and I are grateful to Collingwood staff for facilitating this. Mum has remained well and content throughout the pandemic and this is a tribute to the care and hard work of the staff. We have seen her become more isolated and withdrawn without regular visits from the family, which is sad but unavoidable in the circumstances.

Nothing is too much trouble. The staff are both caring and professional in each role. The staff nurses and sisters have made me feel as a concerned daughter that I can approach them as often as I need to and have always done their utmost to answer my questions and fulfill my requests for my Mum. They have given advice and support during a very emotional time to me and my family. It is clear they are very experienced with caring for people at this stage of their journey. Mum hasn't experience the activities but I have seen a few and they seem stimulating. Although staff were very happy to find things Mum could eat I found the choices limited and a lot of the food very 'samey'. Corned beef and omelettes are usually the alternatives.

Although the staff were nice, the home is very understaffed and my mother suffered as a result. She was often very soiled, her room smelled of urine and it was clear she had not been attended to. Dietary needs were ignored and she was hardly ever mobilised. She became very distressed, so we moved her to another care home, where she is very happy.

Collingwood Grange allows a person to retain their dignity and independence. The home has plenty of free parking places for visitors and a very welcoming entrance. I was impressed with the large private rooms with their own en-suite. Patients are allowed to put up their own pictures and bring in their own furniture - making it 'home from home'. The staff are very caring and genuinely want to help, making sure the residents are comfortable and entertained. There are so many activities on offer. The relaxed open-door policy makes visiting, especially as they allow well-behaved dogs to visit - a real comfort to the owner and a pleasure for other residents to be able to stroke an animal.

The staff at Collingwood Grange were always friendly and welcoming. They were all aware of mum's individual needs and treated her with care, respect, dignity and a friendly smile.

I cannot thank all staff, including care, admin, maintenance and cleaning for everything they did to make mum's stay as comfortable and happy as possible. She passed away in peace and dignity in her own room and we have no regrets at placing her at Collingwood Grange.
