I would like to thank all the staff for their exceptional care and professionalism in looking after my mother who had severe dementia. Their dedication and sincere care was there to see every time I went to see her and I am so glad she was able to live her limited life in the comfort that she always received. Thank you to two staff members amongst the others - and another staff member in particular at the end - for easing the suffering both for my mother and my sister and I. From the bottom of my heart - thank you!
This is a pleasant care home to visit, giving me assurance that my father is cared for and looked after. All staff are plesant, courteous, and professional. The staff help with offering snacks and drinks, and providing a space where we can talk as a family. I've not seen planned entertainment, but am informed about it and this is a nice experience for my father and other guests to have. My father mentions the nice food and enjoyable breakfasts too- I am pleased he is settled there
The general impression from other family members and friends including my own is that the residents are always clean and reasonably well dressed, albeit not always in their own clothes in our experience. The staff are all lovely and seem to really care which would have been difficult to maintain during the high staff turnover period following Brexit. The finance department were particularly accommodating when the time came to sell my Mothers property - a whole different experience form that provided by the local Council, for sure! The only bad taste i am left with after more than 5 years was the disappearance of my Mothers wedding ring which particularly upset my sister very badly and we felt that this was not properly investigated or concluded satisfactorily.
When we first looked around Rodwell House it compared very favourably with others we'd seen. As a modern purpose-built home it simply doesn't compare with older buildings which have been adapted. The care suites are large and airy and the communal areas are spotless. We regularly see the entrance hall carpet being cleaned (not just hoovered). Mum is bedbound but the built-in hoist and nursing chairs mean she can be taken downstairs for a sociable lunch and to enjoy the entertainment. She adores the pet therapy sessions! We were encouraged to make Mum's room her own by taking in belongings to personalise it. The kitchenette in her room means we can make our own drinks and sit in her comfy chairs for a natter, we know other visitors have a meal with her in the lounge - the flexibility is great. The staff are all extremely friendly to residents and visitors alike - and that includes housekeeping, laundry and catering staff too. There is definitely a can do culture.
My mother was 98 and had dementia. She was looked after very well and treated very kindly by the staff. She was allowed to be herself and she was listened to. She enjoyed the food, the gardens and some of the activities. She had a great sense of humour and often laughed with the staff.
I have seen my Mum, Dad, and now husband cared for at Rodwell, and overall I have been very pleased with the care, professionalism, and support I have received. Many of the staff in particular have been extremely kind over very difficult times, and I always felt I could ask questions or for help. I would recommend Rodwell to others if needed.
It's very stressful making this decision for a loved one, especially when there is no other family around. This was the best decision, Im so relieved, the staff at Rodwell are exemplary and my aunt is settling in and happy.
Really friendly caring staff. Mum appears to be very content. Management are always willing to talk about any concerns and response is immediate. Really helpful. Nursing team available to talk about health issues when required.
I must say since my mother went into Rodwell House her mind, and ability to talk has improved, my mum hasn't been outside for four years plus, and it was amazing to sit with my mum in their wonderful garden.
The care shown by the nursing staff was excellent, even when Mum was challenging. Some staff she was very fond of. the accommodation was adequate given Mum's condition, however, I did raise a concern about the cleanliness of the bathroom on one occasion, which was promptly rectified. It would be useful if food could be readily available for end-of-life patients with dementia, as they don't always understand the idea of having to wait for set meal times. Overall would recommend Rodwell to those thinking of using it. Family support was exemplary.
It's just 6 weeks and I'm happy we've made a good decision to choose Rodwell House for Dad. The staff are polite and efficient and the home is well run. For the able residents, it's nice to see they are regularly socialising as a group when I arrive to see Dad. This may be for watching TV, oldies singing along or for visiting entertainers. Our family visited many similar homes and found Rodwell House to be cleaner, fresher and better aired than others. Room sizes are very good and en-suite facilities as standard.
Best home in this area. My husband is really happy here. Staff are very friendly and see that his needs are met. My husband is of normal intelligence and the care staff ensure that he's spoken to appropriately. I actually cannot fault this home.
My father moved here from another care home. We were very nervous to move and the impact on him. However, we needn't have worried. He was made to feel very welcome from day 1 and his room was a vast improvement over the previous. There is always a warm welcome by all members of staff and we are confident our father is in very good hands.
My mother has been at Rodwell House since September 2023. Moving into nursing care after having your own house and being independent is very difficult and as one might say a bitter pill to swallow. All the staff at Rodwell House have made this transition smooth and any small bumps, questions or concerns have been dealt with straight away and Mum has now become part of the family and is always encouraged to join in with any of the activities on offer but at the same time allowed space if she has a day that she wants to just be resting.
We have been visiting my aunt at Rodwell House for the past two months and always found staff from cleaners, carers and management helpful and very happy. Everyone always has a smile and a kind word. My aunt is happier than she has been for a while, content and relaxed and she loves all the carers and never said anything negative. Friends that visit have all been impressed and have all said how well she is being looked after.
Recently the home has improved with hygiene, cleanliness and activities. |Very nice purpose-built home. Our concerns are dealt with well by senior staff. Excellent laundry service.
My mother has been in Rodwell House for 7 weeks now and from the very first day the staff have been excellent. The food is also excellent and the carers never rush Mum when feeding her. All the facilities including rooms, dining room and gardens are all lovely and clean. We couldn't wish for a better home to look after Mum.
My father moved here just before Christmas. He settled in straight away, in fact, better than the previous outstanding home he was at. From the start of the process of moving him and onward, we have felt well-supported as a family. The staff are brilliant with him and understand his routine and fit around him. He loves the open space and being able to roam around and chat with the staff. The garden is lovely and having a children's play area is genius.
I have been visiting a resident every week since she was first admitted at the beginning of 2023. Over this time I had experienced and noted caring and attentive attention towards occupants, especially my ex-wife who when first admitted was very agitated by the different surroundings but now is very comfortable and relaxed with her everyday living in Rodwell House.
This is a lovely home which has a real community and family feel about it. The staff were always very attentive and made my mum's last few years a happy and safe time.
