View Full Details of Mais HouseDick came Mais House for a rest bite break. As this was the first time for him to be away from me as his carer, he was apprehensive. My sons visited him in my absence and always found Dick happy, though one occasion he was tired( this is normal for Dick as he sleeps a lot at home.) He is difficult to assess as with his dementia he is often very forgetful. My opinion is that he has been very happy though home sick and missing Daisy, our small dog. We, the boys and myself have been impressed with all the staff, who although busy are friendly and very helpful. Dick had a well found room with en suite with all he needed. All was spotless and I found was perfect for his privacy as needed. Thank you Mais House for looking after Dick so well, it made a huge difference to my break knowing he was so well cared for. He seems to have made a friend in Ron and he said he would like to come and see him. Sue
We have visited a resident in Mais House on 3 occasions in the past year and been extremely impressed. The staff are efficient, attentive and very friendly and the home beautifully clean and well kept. The friend we visit always looks immaculate with a shirt and tie and well groomed. He is always cheerful despite suffering from dementia and enjoys being in Mais House where the care is excellent.
I am very grateful to the lovely, kind staff at Mais House, Bexhill , who are looking after my dear father-in-law so well. He has been visiting Mais House for respite care over the past three years, but has now become a permanent resident. The staff are always so helpful, patient and kind to all of those in their care. There are lots of activities for the residents to join in if they so wish and The Link area is such a nice place for them to sit. I've joined my father-in-law for lunch there on several occasions and it's like a five star hotel! There's always plenty of choice, the portions are just the right size and the food is delicious and homemade. Thank you for all you are doing.
I am delighted with the care, services and facilities at Mais House. In one month, my Mother is happier and more alive. She arrived in a wheelchair and now walks with her walker. The staff are professional, caring and pay attention to detail; they all addressed my mother by name from the first day. The food and dining room ambience is a treat and the activities and entertainment varied and engaging. The family is most grateful to my Mother's care team and all dedicated staff.
My mother has improved so much since she has been here, both cognitively and happiness wise. Food and care excellent. Activities varied and engaging.
Very friendly staff and residents. The overall atmosphere is very welcoming. I have seen a very positive change in my grandma since she has been living here.
I have always been pleased and happy with the care my mother receives at Mais House. I would particularly like to congratulate the kitchen and restaurant staff. In these difficult times they are still able to provide nourishing and varied meals, with plenty of other options - and also a pleasant place in which to eat them.
My father received end of life care at Mais House. Words can hardly describe the wonderful care, love and respect that he received every single day by every member of staff. He was happy, comfortable and content. The whole team took time to know and understand him, their thoughtful attention made every day a good day for him. As a family, we will be forever thankful for wrapping your arms around us all, and showing love and respect to dad.
I came to visit a recently bereaved friend who is staying for 2/3 weeks respite and I stayed for lunch, which I have to say was very nice and well presented. The class of wine was a pleasant surprise I was very impressed by the only residents lounge I saw. The staff were friendly and everywhere was clean. My friend is already planning to make Mais house his permanent home and I really think it's the best thing he could do. If ever I need to go into care Mais house would be my first choice
My wife stayed at Mais House for a three-week period of respite care. Once again 5-star care and service. The food was well prepared and served. Activities were varied and inclusive. Nursing, care staff, dining staff and volunteers were always happy to support and understanding of needs. Hope to return as she felt safe and secure thank you, everyone.
My mother-in-law celebrated her 101st birthday at Mais House yesterday. The staff made a really special day for her with friends and family. We were all entertained by a ukulele group with a lovely tea with birthday cake. Mum has been a resident for 10 years now and is very happy and well cared for, giving our family peace of mind. A big thank you to the manager and all the team for coordinating such a precious and memorable day.
After 4 months in the home, my assessment of the home came about. Firstly on my arrival I was so ill I did not know where I was. My weight had gone from 15.5 stone to 21 stone. I was drowning in water, I had several falls, a stroke followed by Covid whilst in hospital. On my arrival back at the home the medical team along with the caring staff decided that I had been using Insulin. My doctors and chemist were changed indirectly after being hospitalised. I lost several pounds on my return to the home. Plenty of dedicated care and attention.
It was really nice. The residents were kind and friendly. I found the staff to be very friendly and hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble. I would very much like to come and stay again. The gardens were beautiful and I really enjoyed choir practice.
My brother spent the last months of his life under the excellent care of the staff at Mais House. My family and I will be forever grateful to the nurses, carers and general staff who took such pains to make him comfortable and understand his complex condition. Mais House is a very well-run home but what makes it unique is the sense of camaraderie, the teamwork and the genuine kindness of the staff. Visitors are always welcome and the various events are good fun. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
My father was a resident of Mais House for only a few months. I can honestly say he could not have received better care. The staff were all so caring and understanding of his needs. They also supported us as a family, and when he passed away, could not have been more empathetic and understanding. From the manager down to the laundry staff, all were very pleasant, friendly and supportive. I am so pleased he spent his last days in such an amazing place.
My mum lived with you all there at Mais with not a worry in the world. I would visit and she always looked so smart in her beautiful kept clothes, her hair was always brushed - she looked like the real lady she was. All staff gave Mum a chance to live her life like royalty. Her meals each day were fit for a Queen - all delicately placed on the tray. Tea and cake served regularly as if she were in her own home. She could choose anything she wanted to eat and drink 24 hours a day - every day. Her room, I was able to make it into her own home. All she needed was there with her. Nothing was too much trouble for any of you to help Mum adapt to her new life with you all. You have all been amazing at taking care of not just Mum, but us all as a family - I felt you were my family - I felt Mais House was my home. I felt supported and loved each time I visited. Thank you for all you have done for our beautiful Mum and us as a family. Bless each and every one of you!

I have been there at meal times on occasions and it is always good with choices offered.
