Mais House is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac just a few miles from the sea in the picturesque coastal town of Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex. They have a regular minibus service into Bexhill-On-Sea where residents can enjoy a walk along the seafront, a spot of shopping, or enjoy a drink and good food at one of the bars, cafes and restaurants. They also offer trips out to places of interest in the Sussex area such as Brighton or Eastbourne as well as farther afield such as trips to London.

There’s a shared bond at Mais House because each resident has a Service connection. It means there’s a team spirit and a feeling that everyone looks out for each other. Their excellent team of care assistants and nurses provide a genuinely relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Mais House feel that sharing in the lives of veterans who did so much for this country is both a pleasure and a privilege. Residents can relax in one of the lounges, enjoy a drink at the bar or take advantage of a quiet, well stocked library. There’s a conservatory with pleasant views and beautiful landscaped gardens which have full wheelchair access.

Social interaction, camaraderie and helping residents pursue their interests and hobbies play a big part in day-to-day life at Mais House. Their dedicated activity co-ordinator organises a whole range of activities and events, including a summer fête, evening concerts, live music, art classes and dinners. There’s a cinema experience and activity room, with an arts and crafts section. A hairdresser and physiotherapist visit twice weekly. For those unable to venture out Mais House have a weekly trolley shop.

I came to visit a recently bereaved friend who is staying for 2/3 weeks respite and I stayed for lunch, which I have to say was very nice and well presented. The class of wine was a pleasant surprise I was very impressed by the only residents lounge I saw. The staff were friendly and everywhere was
clean. My friend is already planning to make Mais house his permanent home and I really think it's the best thing he could do. If ever I need to go into care Mais house would be my first choice

My wife stayed at Mais House for a three-week period of respite care.
Once again 5-star care and service.
The food was well prepared and served. Activities were varied and inclusive. Nursing, care staff, dining staff and volunteers were always happy to support and understanding of needs.

My mother-in-law celebrated her 101st birthday at Mais House yesterday. The staff made a really special day for her with friends and family. We were all entertained by a ukulele group with a lovely tea with birthday cake.
Mum has been a resident for 10 years now and is very happy and well cared for,
giving our family peace of mind. A big thank you to the manager and all the team for coordinating such a precious and memorable day.

After 4 months in the home, my assessment of the home came about. Firstly on my arrival I was so ill I did not know where I was. My weight had gone from 15.5 stone to 21 stone. I was drowning in water, I had several falls, a stroke followed by Covid whilst in hospital. On my arrival back at the home
the medical team along with the caring staff decided that I had been using Insulin. My doctors and chemist were changed indirectly after being hospitalised. I lost several pounds on my return to the home. Plenty of dedicated care and attention.

It was really nice. The residents were kind and friendly. I found the staff to be very friendly and hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble. I would very much like to come and stay again. The gardens were beautiful and I really enjoyed choir practice.

My brother spent the last months of his life under the excellent care of the staff at Mais House. My family and I will be forever grateful to the nurses, carers and general staff who took such pains to make him comfortable and understand his complex condition. Mais House is a very well-run home but
what makes it unique is the sense of camaraderie, the teamwork and the genuine kindness of the staff. Visitors are always welcome and the various events are good fun. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

My father was a resident of Mais House for only a few months. I can honestly say he could not have received better care. The staff were all so caring and understanding of his needs. They also supported us as a family, and when he passed away, could not have been more empathetic and understanding. From
the manager down to the laundry staff, all were very pleasant, friendly and supportive. I am so pleased he spent his last days in such an amazing place.

My mum lived with you all there at Mais with not a worry in the world. I would visit and she always looked so smart in her beautiful kept clothes, her hair was always brushed - she looked like the real lady she was. All staff gave Mum a chance to live her life like royalty. Her meals each day were fit
for a Queen - all delicately placed on the tray. Tea and cake served regularly as if she were in her own home. She could choose anything she wanted to eat and drink 24 hours a day - every day.
Her room, I was able to make it into her own home. All she needed was there with her. Nothing was too much trouble for any of you to help Mum adapt to her new life with you all.
You have all been amazing at taking care of not just Mum, but us all as a family - I felt you were my family - I felt Mais House was my home. I felt supported and loved each time I visited. Thank you for all you have done for our beautiful Mum and us as a family.

I have two friends who have been resident in Mais House for some months. They are a married couple and have expressed to me how well they have been taken care of and enjoy some of the many activities available at the care home. I am impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and management.

My Dad has now been in Mais House for four months and has consistently received outstanding care and attention. The staff and volunteers are all really positive and kind and make him feel valued on a daily basis, maintaining his dignity and well-being at all times.

I can honestly say that in all my years of working, I have never been made so welcome as I have been here at Mais House.
