Mais House is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac just a few miles from the sea in the picturesque coastal town of Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex. They have a regular minibus service into Bexhill-On-Sea where residents can enjoy a walk along the seafront, a spot of shopping, or enjoy a drink and good food at one of the bars, cafes and restaurants. They also offer trips out to places of interest in the Sussex area such as Brighton or Eastbourne as well as farther afield such as trips to London.

There’s a shared bond at Mais House because each resident has a Service connection. It means there’s a team spirit and a feeling that everyone looks out for each other. Their excellent team of care assistants and nurses provide a genuinely relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Mais House feel that sharing in the lives of veterans who did so much for this country is both a pleasure and a privilege. Residents can relax in one of the lounges, enjoy a drink at the bar or take advantage of a quiet, well stocked library. There’s a conservatory with pleasant views and beautiful landscaped gardens which have full wheelchair access.

Social interaction, camaraderie and helping residents pursue their interests and hobbies play a big part in day-to-day life at Mais House. Their dedicated activity co-ordinator organises a whole range of activities and events, including a summer fête, evening concerts, live music, art classes and dinners. There’s a cinema experience and activity room, with an arts and crafts section. A hairdresser and physiotherapist visit twice weekly. For those unable to venture out Mais House have a weekly trolley shop.

My dad and I were very happy with the home and all the care the staff gave with a friendly smile or word. Was offered a drink when visiting. The room and home were very clean and no bad odours hanging around. Dad did join in with all the activities offered but the choice was very good.

My mother celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday at Mais House. She has been a resident there for over 7 years. The staff put on a superb party for her family, friends and residents. Her favourite entertainers performed, delicious afternoon tea in a beautifully decorated garden. The sun shone! Mum
and the family were certainly given a day to cherish forever. Our heartfelt thanks go to all the staff who made this possible.

We are very happy with the care Dad receives at Mais House Care Home. All staff are very attentive towards him. Always friendly towards us too, as family. This week we had been visiting Dad during the week as my brother and I are on holiday. The four of us have had lunch in the lounge bar and it has

The service was very good. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The food was nice and didn't take long to come. They repeatedly asked if we wanted anything and were happy to help. My grandad was very well cared for, and there seemed to be a lot for him to do. The overall experience was great.

Despite the rain, Mais House had an excellent Fete on the 5th of August. All the staff worked so hard to make the afternoon a success. There were lots of stalls, i.e. raffles and bands played during the afternoon. Thank you all for your hard work to make it such a success.

I was a visitor at Mais House for the first time. The staff were very friendly, and I had a very comfortable feeling when entering the building. His room was very good, and it was nice to see he had been able to take some of his own furniture. The food was good, and was nice to know that the menu was

I came to visit my uncle with my parents and brother. It was a wonderful occasion. The staff could not have been nicer to us; they were welcoming, friendly, cheerful and kind. The lunch that was served was delicious and the lady that served us was so nice and took particular care of our mother, 91.
She was polite, courteous, considerate and so attentive. Our uncle said a couple of times how much he liked being at Mais House.

Excellent food and care throughout our lunchtime visit. The home was super clean. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, particularly towards my 91-year-old mother (also a visitor). Special mention here to the staff. I could see that my uncle, who is 99, feels happy and safe in the environment

My wife and I took a good friend to the home to spend the last good years of her life being looked after in the best possible way at the Royal British Legion. This was our second visit and was very pleased with everything we saw and felt and the food was excellent. All the staff we met seem to enjoy
their work, a good sign. We were pleased to leave our friend in their capable hands.

I was at Mais House in July 2022 for 5 weeks of respite care. I was well cared for in that period. the staff were very attentive and kind throughout my stay. Good food and a varied menu always available. Excellent care.

We came for lunch at the care home on Easter Sunday. All the staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. The room we were in and the table was set up like a fancy restaurant with added Easter decorations. Everyone who works at Mais House has always been attentive and friendly to us, the visitors,
but more importantly, to our relative resident. Everyone seems to genuinely care about his health, wellbeing and happiness.

I have been teaching people for over 15 years, in a variety of subjects for, and love facilitating people to learn and explore the different ways in which they can develop their skills.


I can honestly say that in all my years of working, I have never been made so welcome as I have been here at Mais House.
