Mais House is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac just a few miles from the sea in the picturesque coastal town of Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex. They have a regular minibus service into Bexhill-On-Sea where residents can enjoy a walk along the seafront, a spot of shopping, or enjoy a drink and good food at one of the bars, cafes and restaurants. My mum lived with you all there at Mais with not a worry in the world. I would visit and she always looked so smart in her beautiful kept clothes, her hair was always brushed - she looked like the real lady she was. All staff gave Mum a chance to live her life like royalty. Her meals each day were fit
for a Queen - all delicately placed on the tray. Tea and cake served regularly as if she were in her own home. She could choose anything she wanted to eat and drink 24 hours a day - every day.
Her room, I was able to make it into her own home. All she needed was there with her. Nothing was too much trouble for any of you to help Mum adapt to her new life with you all.
You have all been amazing at taking care of not just Mum, but us all as a family - I felt you were my family - I felt Mais House was my home. I felt supported and loved each time I visited. Thank you for all you have done for our beautiful Mum and us as a family.
Bless each and every one of you!

I have two friends who have been resident in Mais House for some months. They are a married couple and have expressed to me how well they have been taken care of and enjoy some of the many activities available at the care home. I am impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and management.
The atmosphere is a welcoming one. I have been there at meal times on occasions and it is always good with choices offered.

My dad and I were very happy with the home and all the care the staff gave with a friendly smile or word. Was offered a drink when visiting. The room and home were very clean and no bad odours hanging around. Dad did join in with all the activities offered but the choice was very good.

My mother celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday at Mais House. She has been a resident there for over 7 years. The staff put on a superb party for her family, friends and residents. Her favourite entertainers performed, delicious afternoon tea in a beautifully decorated garden. The sun shone! Mum
and the family were certainly given a day to cherish forever. Our heartfelt thanks go to all the staff who made this possible.

We are very happy with the care Dad receives at Mais House Care Home. All staff are very attentive towards him. Always friendly towards us too, as family. This week we had been visiting Dad during the week as my brother and I are on holiday. The four of us have had lunch in the lounge bar and it has
been a real treat being together and having lunch together. Lovely food and great staff looking after us. Thank you.

The service was very good. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The food was nice and didn't take long to come. They repeatedly asked if we wanted anything and were happy to help. My grandad was very well cared for, and there seemed to be a lot for him to do. The overall experience was great.

Despite the rain, Mais House had an excellent Fete on the 5th of August. All the staff worked so hard to make the afternoon a success. There were lots of stalls, i.e. raffles and bands played during the afternoon. Thank you all for your hard work to make it such a success.

I was a visitor at Mais House for the first time. The staff were very friendly, and I had a very comfortable feeling when entering the building. His room was very good, and it was nice to see he had been able to take some of his own furniture. The food was good, and was nice to know that the menu was
very appealing. He seems to be very happy there.

I came to visit my uncle with my parents and brother. It was a wonderful occasion. The staff could not have been nicer to us; they were welcoming, friendly, cheerful and kind. The lunch that was served was delicious and the lady that served us was so nice and took particular care of our mother, 91.
She was polite, courteous, considerate and so attentive. Our uncle said a couple of times how much he liked being at Mais House.

Excellent food and care throughout our lunchtime visit. The home was super clean. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, particularly towards my 91-year-old mother (also a visitor). Special mention here to the staff. I could see that my uncle, who is 99, feels happy and safe in the environment

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.880)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.880) out of 10 for Mais House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.880 for Mais House is calculated as follows: ( (231 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 258 Ratings = 4.88
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Mais House is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
