Mais House is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac just a few miles from the sea in the picturesque coastal town of Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex. They have a regular minibus service into Bexhill-On-Sea where residents can enjoy a walk along the seafront, a spot of shopping, or enjoy a drink and good food at one of the bars, cafes and restaurants. They also offer trips out to places of interest in the Sussex area such as Brighton or Eastbourne as well as farther afield such as trips to London.

There’s a shared bond at Mais House because each resident has a Service connection. It means there’s a team spirit and a feeling that everyone looks out for each other. Their excellent team of care assistants and nurses provide a genuinely relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Mais House feel that sharing in the lives of veterans who did so much for this country is both a pleasure and a privilege. Residents can relax in one of the lounges, enjoy a drink at the bar or take advantage of a quiet, well stocked library. There’s a conservatory with pleasant views and beautiful landscaped gardens which have full wheelchair access.

Social interaction, camaraderie and helping residents pursue their interests and hobbies play a big part in day-to-day life at Mais House. Their dedicated activity co-ordinator organises a whole range of activities and events, including a summer fête, evening concerts, live music, art classes and dinners. There’s a cinema experience and activity room, with an arts and crafts section. A hairdresser and physiotherapist visit twice weekly. For those unable to venture out Mais House have a weekly trolley shop.

Generally, a great home giving good care. Could do with more staff at weekends, this is really needed though.

Very impressed by - the continual and available care for my friend, the friendliness of the staff, they would go out of their way to help him. The pride the staff had in their work. The teamwork among the staff. The leadership I sensed throughout the staff. The way the staff met what in many ways were
significant challenges with cheerfulness and a whatever it takes attitude.

I was met at the door by a very friendly and helpful staff member. I was taken to my friend and offered tea, which came on a tray in a teapot! With milk and two slices of cake (which I suspect was homemade).
My friend spoke very highly of the staff and the care he received.
There was a very good
feel about the place and I was aware of activities going on for the residents.
On leaving, I was encouraged next time I visited, to stay for lunch.
They also have many activities and entertainment for the residents.

Celebrating my father-in-law's birthday, combined with the Burns celebration, at Mais House Care Home was excellent. Staff worked very hard and the food was of a very high standard. What kept the whole time going with a swing was the excellent male singing (top marks). I have nothing but praise for
the manager and her whole team who looked after us well.

Burns lunch and Father-in-law's birthday - the whole afternoon was a delight. Bagpipes, piping in the haggis, whole beautiful meal and Burns poems beautifully read. Live music from a very talented singer, birthday song and cake for my father-in-law and the Mayor's speech. Wonderful all-round and congratulations
to the staff in all sections of Mais House.

I wish I had served in the forces so that I could book my place in Maise House now. Burns lunch was joyous.
Honestly, it is more like Butlins than a care home. They put on so many fabulous events for their residents and the staff absolutely get into the spirit. My father's health and disposition is
so much better since he has been there.

I have attended several special events - the last being Burns lunch and entertainment. Always excellently organised and inclusive. Lovely meal and a singer who always engaged the interest of the residents and guests. I visit day regularly. He's always clean, well-dressed and happy. He has dementia following
several strokes, resulting in him moving to Mais House where he's had a new lease of life. There are weekly events that stimulate his senses. I love visiting him there.

The food was delicious. The waitress service was excellent, very helpful and attentive and friendly, making you feel at ease.
The entertainment was very good, and well organised, and speech by the major.
Program on Burns with pipes etc. Great. Singer entertaining, good voice, various karaoke types.
Hope to attend next year.

This care home is absolutely fantastic, today I turned up unexpectedly, and I was offered to eat lunch with my grandma, the food was very tasty! The home has such good vibes and always very friendly staff, who make a fuss of my children and welcome us happily.

Very friendly staff who were happy and eager to cater to all of our needs. The rooms and communal areas are all very clean and well-decorated with plenty of natural light. The staff are all very polite and courteous to my granddad who gets on well with them all and is able to have a laugh with them

Christmas day lunch 2022.
We sat in the main dining room with dad, myself and mum.
The food was very good thank you, and all the staff were very kind and attentive!
They kept our glasses nice and full and couldn't have been more helpful. We could see other residents on their own being looked after
by the staff which was good to see.
All in all, a very pleasurable experience - thank you.

This is quite possibly the nicest home I have ever been to. The staff are the kindest, they treat their residents with the utmost respect and provide the highest standard of care. The care home itself is extremely clean and well looked after, it feels like a real family home. I know when I get old this
is the place I'd want to be put. I really couldn't put in enough words as I could go on for a long time.

Mais House is well run from management down to cleaning staff. All staff are friendly. The chef looked after my dietary needs, all staff knew my name by the second day and checked if I was ok or needed anything often.

The visit was excellent, it was the first time I have visited my grandpa where the link has been open to visitors too. Although we still end to his room for the duration of the visit it was lovely to see the other residents and see my grandpa with his friends. Staff were lovely and welcoming as per
usual and there was a good variety of events on for the week.

Mais House continues to provide outstanding care and provisions for my father. The home is immaculately clean, the staff are amazing, the food is fantastic. I can find no fault with this care home. I just wish my mother had been so fortunate to have experienced such a fantastic environment.

I have been teaching people for over 15 years, in a variety of subjects for, and love facilitating people to learn and explore the different ways in which they can develop their skills.


I can honestly say that in all my years of working, I have never been made so welcome as I have been here at Mais House. The staff are amazing, and I really appreciate the welcome they have offered to me since I joined. The passion for the care given to residents shines out from every single member of staff.
