Mais House

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Dick came Mais House for a rest bite break.

As this was the first time for him to be away from me as his carer, he was apprehensive.

My sons visited him in my absence and always found Dick happy, though one occasion he was tired( this is normal for Dick as he sleeps a lot at home.)

He is difficult

to assess as with his dementia he is often very forgetful. My opinion is that he has been very happy though home sick and missing Daisy, our small dog.

We, the boys and myself have been impressed with all the staff, who although busy are friendly and very helpful.

Dick had a well found room with en suite with all he needed. All was spotless and I found was perfect for his privacy as needed.

Thank you Mais House for looking after Dick so well, it made a huge difference to my break knowing he was so well cared for.

He seems to have made a friend in Ron and he said he would like to come and see him.

Sue

1. Inquiry - RBL Galanos House, was welcoming, answered my questions, felt safe and listened to.
2. Application - process was clear and exceeded my expectation. It covered eligibility, the forms 'This is me' and 'accessibility' were so goof to have mum voice.
3. Visit - mum was nervous, but this
disappeared instantly with the welcome, friendliness and your which exceeded her expectations. Liz, our guide respected and talked to mum all the time. It felt safe and mum noticed that as she was shown around. The pace of the tour was at mum's pace. No rushing and answered all questions with knowledge and passion. Residents, maintenance man, carers and others all spoke to mum using her name and it felt like a happy place but more than that it felt like a special community. It was a personal visit, thank you for making it special. Before leaving mum met Sarah, deputy manager, who like everyone focused on mum and her experience and asked if mum has any questions? Just the one; 'when can I move in?' - two hours and a life changing experience of which as her daughter was wonderful to hear - she made her own decision and I'm so proud of her but I'm also so grateful to all the staff at Galanos House.
4. Transition - Assessment for mum's care and accessibility was thoughtful and thorough. Mandy, thank you. Moving day was special, having lunch with mum in the restaurant helped us all. Mum's room looked great. The furniture was set out well, and we loved helping mum unpack as so many residents and staff popped their heads in to say hello to mum, wonderful. The online financial set up was easy.
Visiting mum is wonderful, she has a voice and is enjoying herself and the staff, careers and new friendships are special already. I'm so proud of mum and so grateful to RBL Galanos House and all the staff. Mum lost her soul mate, my dad in May this year, and now in September she's not alone and in a wonderful community. Thank you xx

We have visited a resident in Mais House on 3 occasions in the past year and been extremely impressed. The staff are efficient, attentive and very friendly and the home beautifully clean and well kept. The friend we visit always looks immaculate with a shirt and tie and well groomed. He is always
cheerful despite suffering from dementia and enjoys being in Mais House where the care is excellent.

I am very grateful to the lovely, kind staff at Mais House, Bexhill , who are looking after my dear father-in-law so well.
He has been visiting Mais House for respite care over the past three years, but has now become a permanent resident.
The staff are always so helpful, patient and kind to all
of those in their care. There are lots of activities for the residents to join in if they so wish and The Link area is such a nice place for them to sit.
I've joined my father-in-law for lunch there on several occasions and it's like a five star hotel! There's always plenty of choice, the portions are just the right size and the food is delicious and homemade.
Thank you for all you are doing.

From the moment Mum was assessed to the moment Mum passed, every single person we dealt with was fantastic. We felt heard and cared for by every member of staff. Mum's palliative care was exemplary and she was made so welcome. She was kept clean and comfortable at what was a very difficult time for
the family and Mum. They always had time for her and treated her with dignity and respect right to the end. The wonderful team laid her out beautifully. Thanks so much to one and all x

I am delighted with the care, services and facilities at Mais House. In one month, my Mother is happier and more alive. She arrived in a wheelchair and now walks with her walker. The staff are professional, caring and pay attention to detail; they all addressed my mother by name from the first day.
The food and dining room ambience is a treat and the activities and entertainment varied and engaging. The family is most grateful to my Mother's care team and all dedicated staff.

Mother lived here for approximately seven years. During that period her levels of care varied. Lastly end-of-life care needs changes took place at the home,. Improved systems meant more accountability of care delivered by competent staff. Very reassuring for family members who were made welcome without
fail by cheerful staff. Continuity of care. Mium's end-of-life care involved a member of staff who welcomed her to the home on her arrival here. Professional at all times but caring and warm. Attention to detail. Thank you.

Mum went to Halsey for 3 weeks of respite.

All of our dealings with the staff leading up to mum going in and when she was there, were really good.

She has since told me she wouldn't hesitate to go back for more respite another time, or if the situation should arise that she needs full time care,

she has said Halsey House is where she would like to go.

Lister House was a very happy home for my Mum for the last 16 months of her life. I expect, like lots of people, she was reluctant to give up her own home and move into a care home. But from day one, the staff at Lister House made the transition easy. After living on her own, Mum felt comforted
knowing there was company whenever she needed it, whether that be carers or other residents. Mum enjoyed the food and I felt it was a significant factor in her wellbeing. The activities were varied and fun - Mum used to say that LH loved an excuse for a party or get-together! Mum lived on the Residential Unit and the staff were brilliant - their care, compassion and kindness was exceptional. Mum loved chatting with them and would often say that the staff were her second family. Mum died in April 2025. The support given to me during Mum's time at LH was very good but the care and support I received in the last few weeks was exceptional. Thank you to everyone for everything you did.

On arrival at Maurice House my father showed little or no interest with his surroundings or the wonderful social events that the home was offering. Roll on a few months, he loves living there, he has gained weight and looks amazing. He celebrated his 98th birthday recently and now joins in many of the
