It has taken a long time for I to settle and this time has been so relaxing for him and me without the tension of too much stress. Staff have been so kind and he enjoys being in the choir. He is praised for his singing.

Sadly my mum had a stroke in late 2024 which left her needing nursing care. She has been a resident of Dunkirk Memorial Home since April 2025. In that time, I believe that Mum's care has been outstanding. I cannot praise the home enough. The care that she receives, the staff, the facilities, the setting,
are second to none. Thank you, Dunkirk.

The care at Galanos is exemplary. The staff are caring, considerate and empathetic. They all take the time to get to know each resident and all of their family. The activities are super, the volunteers are wonderful and make it possible for so many residents to make memories, and the food is excellent.
I really enjoy going to visit my father and I could not be happier that he is looked after in such a special and caring way. Thank you Galanos. You are wonderful.

I have known Sid for many years, and knowing he is cared for at Mais House gives me enormous peace of mind. The team at Mais House are truly exceptional and go above and beyond for both residents and their families. Every interaction I've had has been warm, caring, and thoughtful. From the friendly
reception staff, to the wonderful kitchen team always offering a cuppa, to the incredible care staff who know their residents so personally and compassionately - the atmosphere is genuinely special. The grounds are beautiful, the activities are abundant, and there is such a strong sense of kindness throughout the home.

Living in New Zealand, it means the world that the team help keep me connected with Sid through emails, phone calls, photos, and even offers to arrange video calls. A special thank you to Leanne Clark for always going the extra mile. Mais House is a truly wonderful place, and the care and compassion shown every day does not go unnoticed.
With love from NZ,
Kathleen xx

Reply from Susan Knight, Registered Manager at Mais HouseDear Kathleen,
Thank you so much for your truly beautiful words. Your review means more to us than we can say. It is incredibly special to hear from someone who knows Sid so well, and we are deeply touched that being here at Mais House brings you peace of mind, especially from so far away.
We are so proud of our whole team, and your kind recognition of everyone-from reception and the kitchen to our care staff-will genuinely mean a great deal to them. They all strive every day to create the warm, compassionate, and welcoming environment you've described, and it's wonderful to know that this is felt not only by our residents, but by their families too.
Staying connected with loved ones is so important to us, and we're really glad we can help you feel close to Sid despite the distance. We will be sure to pass on your special thanks to Leanne-she will be absolutely delighted to be mentioned.

The best thing I ever did for Dad was to get him into Mais House. All the staff here have been nothing but really friendly, caring and helpful. Mais House has an excellent reputation and quite rightly so it's a class above any other carehome I have seen.

My wife has been a resident of Lister House for several years. She is very happy there. I visit at least 3 times per year and stay in the family guest room, we are separated, amicable. On my visit's I find all of the staff, from the cleaners to the nursing and admin staff are very professional, and
friendly. A number of years ago my father got dementia. I had the dubious task of selecting his nursing home, so I have been in lots of homes. Lister House is the best one I have ever been in.
Reply from Terri Warren, Business and performance manager at Lister HouseThank you for your kind words John. We are pleased to hear that you enjoy your visits to Lister House and that you find the guest room comfortable during your stay and all staff acting in a professional friendly manner. Here at Lister House we pride ourselves on the care we provide to both our beneficiaries and their families and friends.
Hope to see you soon on your next visit.

When visiting my wifes step dad, the care home felt very relaxed, happy and caring towards the residents. The atmosphere reflects the positive attitude that the care home management has built upon a daily basis. When dad arrived at the home, he was very poorly. With the atmosphere and the care, his
health has been improved noticeably, which means he was able to celebrate his 91st birthday with his friends and family. The staff from the dining room, to nursing, entertainment, and domestic staff all made this afternoon enjoyable for him, which, as a family, we are very grateful.
Reply from Susan Knight, Registered Manager at Mais HouseThank you very much for your kind and thoughtful feedback. We are delighted to hear that you find the home to have a relaxed, happy, and caring atmosphere, as this is something we strive to create every day.

It is wonderful to know that your wife's stepdad's health has improved during his time with us. Supporting our residents' wellbeing is at the heart of what we do, and your comments mean a great deal.

We are especially pleased that he was able to celebrate his 91st birthday surrounded by loved ones, and that our team could help make the occasion so enjoyable. Your kind words about all our staff will be shared, as they will truly appreciate the recognition.

My dad came here in July 2025. He is so much better now. We have dinner at 5 PM with my dad, we have a table of 5 people between 93 and 97 years old. The table was for 4 people, but when Richard joined us, they made up a table for 6 people, including me, on a Wednesday. All the staff are very good and
friendly. The building is very well laid out. Dad says, "It feels like a five star hotel! He used to have a modest breakfast, but now he has a full English breakfast every day. He has made lots of friends among the staff as well as other service users.
PS Dad said the other day, "I'm going to get to 100" - he never said that before.
Reply from Samantha Buckley, Business & Performance Manager at Halsey HouseIt's wonderful to hear how well your dad has settled into Halsey House. Stories like this genuinely mean a lot to us. Knowing he's enjoying his meals, making friends, and feeling like he's living in a "five-star hotel" brings a smile to everyone here.

We're especially glad he feels so at home with both the staff and the other residents - that sense of belonging is exactly what we hope to create. And hearing him say he's aiming for 100 is incredible. It's amazing what good company, good food, and a supportive environment can inspire.

Families are always welcome here. You're an important part of the Royal British Legion community, and we're delighted that you join him for dinner and share these moments together. Thank you for taking the time to share this - it truly means a great deal to all of us.

It was my Father In Laws 91st Birthday celebration this month. We started by having lunch which was the first time for me and I have to say the dinning room looked fantastic and the meal was wonderful and the dinning room staff were beautiful and amazing. During the afternoon we had tea and cake (which
was made and baked in house) WOW!
I would also like to say what a wonderful atmosphere and homely feel Mais House has and we are always made very welcome by all the staff and management. I would highly recommend this home to any family as the care and atmosphere is just second to none.
Reply from Susan Knight, Registered Manager at Mais HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share such a lovely review. We're truly honoured that you chose to celebrate your Father-in-Law's 91st birthday with us - what a special occasion!

It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your first dining experience with us and that both the meal and the dining room made such a positive impression. Our team will be delighted to know their efforts helped make the day memorable, and your kind words about the staff mean a great deal.

We're also so pleased you enjoyed the afternoon tea and our homemade cake - it's always nice to hear when those little touches stand out!

DMH is very welcoming, wonderful facility and activities and friendly and helpful staff. Laundry is also very good. Access to management by residents is poor. My concerns or areas to improve on are: 1) Quality of food - fresh meat is rarely provided; there are too many calorific desserts provided to
a type 2 diabetic resident. 2) Meal times, especially lunch, are too long and noisy it precludes attendance, which in turn discourages isolation. Meals out of room should be encouraged. 3) Supplies chains of meds
Reply from Eleanor Hallsworth, Quality & Performance Manager at Dunkirk Memorial HouseThank you for reviewing Dunkirk Memorial House, your feedback is important to us. It's great to hear you find DMH a welcoming wonderful facility, with friendly and helpful staff.
We prepare all our meals on site and have a fresh supply of ingredients including a fresh meat delivered twice weekly. We encourage residents to have personal choice and give many food options with dietary considerations for residents to choose from including the location of where to receive their meals. I'm sorry to hear you feel management is unavailable, our Manager has an open-door policy for residents, visitors and staff. In addition, there is a Care lead such as the Senior Nurse and Residential Lead on our units, and the Deputy Manager is based on the residential floor with easy access for residents to drop in anytime during the working week. We also have a General services Manager, and Quality Manager on site and available to contact. Please do reach out to us anytime, we are always happy to support.

Good maintenance needs to be supported by life cycle replacement, which is lacking at the moment.

Every time we visit my mother-in-law at Mais House, we are reassured that she is receiving the best possible care. All staff who work there, whether in kitchen, domestic or clinical - always name-check her and show genuine care and affection. We must also say how grateful we are to the superb culinary
