My husband arrived at Lister House just over 6 weeks ago and we have never looked back. I didn't want our life to change; we still maintain the same way of life but with the 2C's - care and company. We are in a bubble at Lister House wonderful caring staff and excellent food, such a happy place. My
husband has gone from strength to strength and is very contented.

Lister House was a very happy home for my Mum for the last 16 months of her life. I expect, like lots of people, she was reluctant to give up her own home and move into a care home. But from day one, the staff at Lister House made the transition easy. After living on her own, Mum felt comforted
knowing there was company whenever she needed it, whether that be carers or other residents. Mum enjoyed the food and I felt it was a significant factor in her wellbeing. The activities were varied and fun - Mum used to say that LH loved an excuse for a party or get-together! Mum lived on the Residential Unit and the staff were brilliant - their care, compassion and kindness was exceptional. Mum loved chatting with them and would often say that the staff were her second family. Mum died in April 2025. The support given to me during Mum's time at LH was very good but the care and support I received in the last few weeks was exceptional. Thank you to everyone for everything you did.

All the staff are friendly and go above and beyond to care for the residents at Lister House. My mum was put on palliative care after leaving hospital 8 months ago. Since then she's absolutely flourished by being cared for by the staff. She's now joining in with activities and eating independently,
which she never did before.

Lister House is always clean and the staff friendly and helpful. We have no worries about our relatives care and comfort. Her room is always clean, warm and tidy and laundry's always done. Meals are excellent. Care is outstanding and that applies from nursing to office staff to cleaning and catering
staff. So glad we chose Lister House.

All staff are very friendly, welcome and polite.
Staff are generally very supportive & helpful though occasionally appear thin on the ground.
The public areas are always clean and well presented too.
The links can be rather chilly and the courtyard garden rather bland and dull through the winter
months, but internally the social areas are decorated well for every event or change of season, bringing brightness and fun.
Throughout the better months the grounds are well maintained and a pleasure to be out in .
A lovely high standard overall, in every department.

Thank you for your review, the winter certainly dampened the presentation of the courtyard, I hope that you and your loved one will enjoy it when it has bloomed in spring. The link area can be cool at times especially if the doors are left open, taking on board what you have said we will have signs made encouraging everyone to close the doors to keep the link warm.

Every time I visit Lister House I am always impressed by the staff and the wonderful feel of the entire place.
The staff always do their utmost to ensure the residents are well looked after and cherished.
They are also very helpful to visitors too.

From the moment we arrived in January 2024, we knew Dad to be in safe, caring, and supportive hands. We were all welcomed so warmly by all the staff and at once were reassured that Dad's needs would be met. This continued day and night, throughout the time Dad lived at Lister House. All staff were totally
committed to the needs of their residents and in tune with them. Nothing was too much trouble - we will always remember his fantastic 101st birthday party in May. The staff were friendly, always approachable and knowledgeable and the whole environment is geared around the residents, with lovely rooms, light and airy communal areas, and an inviting outside space. The food is very good and there is a great programme of activities to enjoy.
Dad died in September 2024 and we could not have wished for a better, kinder, more attentive environment for Dad to live in for his last months.

My Father originally went to Lister House for Residential Care but more lately was in the Nursing Care Unit. The care he received throughout was exceptional. Nothing was ever too much trouble for any member of staff who all were welcoming and caring.

The whole family loves Lister House - our mother/granny/mother-in-law is very happy here, and we are happy, too, because the care of her is excellent in all respects. We leave her knowing she is cared for 24/7 and is safe - all her needs are understood and catered for by a loving, caring team of staff.
The communication between the team here and ourselves is open and timely, and there is always someone to listen to any concerns we have and put appropriate actions in place if needed. Mother receives the very best care here - thank you, Lister House.

I have been a resident since 16th November 2021. I have found everything of a very high order. Of course little things go wrong from time to time but they are rectified very quickly. I find all the staff kind, pleasant to talk to, and always ready to give service. I doubt if there is a better retirement
home anywhere else in the country. Thank you for making my time pleasant and contented. I hope the rest of my life will be as enjoyable as the past 12 months.

During my 18 months as a resident I have found Lister House to be a very pleasant and safe home. The care is very good and I enjoy the company of many like-minded ex-military. I would definitely recommend Lister House.

Beautiful home and initial care was very good, until Dad deteriorated and his personality changed due to dementia. There are too many ageing staff who did not know his needs. One agency regular carer was wonderful and gave excellent care. Two full-time staff were not very understanding or caring, they
should be in a different career. His end of life care left a lot to be desired. A friend went to see him when regular carers was not there to find a carer playing on his phone at 3:30 pm while Dad had dry sick on his bed. He had not been given anything to eat since 9:30 am. We were extremely disappointed to not even receive a condolence card or message and no representation at his funeral. Cannot recommend, unless things improve.

From visiting my father here he always seems very happy and content. He is still able to be reasonably independent, the staff are always on hand if required. If there are any issues of any kind they are always dealt with immediately. I have no concerns and know my dad is in good hands and being cared
for throughout the day and night.

Moving Dad into a care home was a very concerning thing for us. We need not have worried as the standards and environment at Lister House have meant he has not only settled in well but loves living here! Standards are high, but it is the lovely friendly atmosphere in Lister House that stands out. The
staff throughout the home in whatever sense of fun we are truly thankful for that.

Both my parents have been, and one is still in Lister. I cannot praise Lister highly enough. I know when I go home after visiting, I have complete peace of mind that she is looked after in such a wonderful and sympathetic way. I can't praise all the staff enough. It's like a first-class hotel suite
with all the benefits of a hospital.

My husband attends day care once a week and could not be happier about his care. I have not put a rating for rooms as he isn't a resident and I haven't seen the rooms.
