View Full Details of Darlington CourtI cannot rate the care for my father enough as it has been amazing. A big thank to all the staff who have gone above and beyond for Dad. They also make the family feel so welcome and part of their extended family. We have been kept well informed of how Dad is doing and also supported us through the tricky times. I can't thank them enough, it's not an easy job but they make it look effortless with their level of care and attention. Thank you.
It took my husband a good week to settle in but the carers were friendly and compassionate from day one. When I phoned (which was often) I was always given a truthful and comprehensive rundown of how he had been each day. This was the first time my husband or I had experienced him being away from me so it took me a while to stop worrying about him but I was always reassured to just trust in the system and be assured that he was fine, and he was ! I would definitely use Darlington court again.
A dear friend was admitted to Darlington Court, as he felt he could no longer cope at home after a couple of falls, & as his wife spent her last few months there after having a stroke it was his wish to spend his last days there too, He found the care & attention his wife received would be the same for him. We as friends visited him regularly & found he could not have been in a better place, the staff went out of their way to attend to his every need whether it be medical, or a friendly chat about his travels, he was very fortunate not to suffer mentally & could hold a fascinating conversation of interest to many, sadly he grew very tired & was ready to join his wife. The staff made his last days as comfortable as possible & we were kept informed regularly on his state of health & were able to sit with him almost to the very end. So we would like to thank all of Darlington Court for everything they did for them.
I can honestly say that the care and compassion shown by all the staff at Darlington Court was brilliant from the moment my aunt moved in during May 2025. The ease of registration and getting her settled in was painless and they were excellent at communicating with me on her activities and well being. They treated her with great dignity and care.
My mum has been a resident at Darlington Court since March 2023. We are extremely happy with the care she receives, all of the staff are friendly, patient & caring to mum & to us. All of mums needs are met and more. The lifestyle team make the home a happy & fun place to be, always lots going on and the house keeping team keep everywhere lovely & clean. The food is good too! It's a huge relief to know mum is being so well cared for and I would highly recommend this lovely home.
I have to say that it was with great reluctance that I agreed to my husband becoming a resident of Darlington Court back in July 2024. We had managed at home but after continuous falls and stays in hospital I realised that my husband needed 24 hour nursing care to help with his advanced dementia and progressing prostate cancer. Darlington Court became home - not just for my husband but for me too. I was able to visit every day (at any time) and made to feel part of the family. Both of us were always treated with love and respect. There is a special aura as soon as you walk through the front door of Darlington Court, of helpfulness, love and compassion. All the staff - even the 'backroom staff' - maintenance man, the chef and cleaners take a genuine interest in the residents. Sadly my husband passed away in June and my 'Darlington family' have dealt with everything in a professional and loving manner. And I am grateful that they continue to keep a watchful eye on me.
Both my parents have been residents at Darlington Court since April 2025. We have found all the staff and management to be very helpful, kind and caring and always seem to be in great spirits even though it is obviously an extremely demanding task. My mother has dementia and has responded exceptionally well to, and joins in most of, the many daily activities on offer. It is of great comfort to my father and the rest of the family to see how involved and active she despite her deteriorating condition. They have both said the food is good and staff are flexible in meeting any specific requirements they may request from time to time. My dad struggles to eat full meals but enjoys the occasional chocolate eclair! Darlington Court has been a great choice for them when they were no longer able to cope at home.
Excellent home. Very good communications before, during and after respite care. Darlington Court was very clean and accommodating to all my families wishes. The food was exceptional and the activities were fun and entertaining. My Mum was often singing or dancing or enjoying slower moments doing craft, cooking or gardening. All staff from cleaners, maintenance staff and carers were kind and very helpful .
My husband was a resident from Sept '24 until May '25 when he passed away. He was suffering from advanced dementia as well as other significant health problems and could, at times, be difficult to help. Yet all the carers showed him nothing but kindness, patience and understanding giving me and his loved ones comfort and reassurance that he was in the very best place for his needs. The food was good and varied and the activities team did a brilliant job, devising original, thoughtful and fun entertainment and interesting tasks involving as many of the residents as possible. I am very grateful that I found this wonderful care home and would recommend it to anyone
My mother-law has been resident at Darlington court for six months. I have found that everyone there has always been very helpful and kind and the carers go above and beyond to look after residents. I have noticed that in some of the reviews some people have mentioned the delay in responding to the help button, I must say that I agree and this is one of the few negatives that I have about Darlington court. I must say that the way they help residents to get involved every day with activities is amazing. The only other small negative is that my mother-in-law has complained about was that the meals were sometimes cold.
I am so grateful to Darlington Court for taking mum in and giving her some much needed respite after a horrible time in hospital. The staff have all been so kind, friendly and professional. The facilities and activities are excellent and it is a lovely environment. At a time when our world has been turned upside down due to mum's sudden deterioration, Darlington Court have provided much-needed support, comfort and reassurance.
My wife has been at Darlington Court since November 2024. She fractured her hip in August 2024 and although she was operated on she hasn't recovered her ability to walk safely, this combined with her mental health meant that I was no longer able to look after her at home. After looking at a number of care homes I decided on Darlington Court as they could best meet her needs. Since she has been there I have realised that she is much safer and better looked after than anywhere else. The staff are excellent, wherever their roles, they are welcoming and professional, caring and supportive of both my wife and myself. I try to go in every day and each time I receive an update on my wife's situation. The food that is served is of an excellent quality and, if it is lunchtime, I'm always offered some. When not eating or sleeping there are daily activities and the staff make great efforts to help and encourage the residents to take part and enjoy all aspects of life. All in all a super place.
I am reviewing Darlington Court after my mum's two week respite stay. All staff appeared to be very caring and tried to involve the residents in all the many activities they put on. I would particularly mention three members of staff who I often saw on my visits into the home and who really tried to engage mum and others. Tea, coffee and cake seemed plentiful and mum told me the meals were very good. Mum's needs seemed to be accommodated and I know she was popped in the TV room to watch her favourite game show daily. This was mum's first ever stay and all my fears disappeared on my first visit, when I saw mum smiling with the other residents. The home has recently undergone redecoration and looked bright and inviting and I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending a visit by those thinking about using Darlington's services.
My brother has been a resident at Darlington for three months now and feels very settled and mostly happy. The staff are very patient and caring even to the extent of doing 'too much' instead of encouraging him to do things for himself. I agree that sometimes the help button takes a while to be answered but this is usually due to the staff attending other residents or busy in other areas. The staff have been very good at managing my brother's medication and always available to answer our questions about his health. The food is good and plentiful!
My review is general, over a period of several months, when I have visited my friend every week. The staff are always friendly and usually willing to engage in sorting out problems. However, there are consistent problems which indicate a less than satisfactory care environment. For example, when my friend tells me he wants to go to the toilet the call button is not answered on many occasions, even when I have gone to the nurse's station to ask for assistance. The care staff are very nice but just walk into my friend's room without knocking. Maintenance takes a long time to be actioned for example repairing a failed door closure and fixing a picture on the wall.
My father-in-law has been at Darlington Court for six months. We have been very happy with the care and support given to him during his time there. He joined in all of the activities and the staff support has been invaluable. He has now left to join his wife in her care home and hopefully will be as happy. Many thanks to all of the staff at Darlington Court.
Amazing staff, can not praise them enough. They were so helpful when I was moving my dad to Darlington Court. As a result, my dad settled in really well and has made a real improvement since he has been there.
Mum needed respite care and rehab after a bad bout of shingles which led to her being hospitalised. I and my brother are delighted with the friendly, professional, caring environment and staff who, without exception, handle Mum and other residents with care, patience and dignity in a safe environment. The food is well prepared and creative for small appetites. Mum is settling in, making friends and engaging with the activities. We are very grateful to all concerned.
The choice of nursing home for a loved one is never easy but the staff at Darlington Court made Mum's transition very easy. The level of care is very good and the facilities are excellent, the staff are particularly kind and helpful, nothing seems too much trouble. Mum has never complained about anything. We recommend Darlington Court without hesitation.
Since my mother has been at Darlington Court she has received excellent care. The place has a lovely feel and Mum has been warmly accepted as one of the Darlington Court family. We couldn’t have wished for a better place, and Mum is being well looked after by the whole team. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Darlington Court for their continued hard work in helping my mum to feel more settled. Thank you so much!
