View Full Details of Donnington HouseWe chose this care home above others because the first thing we noticed was the lovely caring staff which most of had been there for many years and the warmth and atmosphere in the building. They have quiet beautiful gardens which residents can sit in if they so wish. . My mother is very happy considering the major upheaval in her life. They are exceptional in all aspects of their care and the food is very good too, plenty of variety. There are all different activities every day if you wish to participate. Overall we are all very satisfied.
My Uncle has been living at Donnington House for 3 years now. He tells me that he is content and happy. It seems to me that the staff (many of whom are the same people who welcomed him to Donnington 3 years ago) genuinely go out of their way to do anything that makes my Uncle's life better. I always receive a warm welcome whenever I visit. It is a journey of over 100 miles for me to visit my Uncle but I would not think of moving him anywhere else.
My Mum has been a resident for over three years now and it has been a huge relief to me to know that Mum is being supported well and that her needs are being met. I have never had a bad experience while visiting over the years, staff are patient and respectful at all times with the residents. There are activities every day, the lounge is vibrant and always has a small group of residents socialising, but everything is optional. The facilities are superb, with adjustable beds, the lounge and the gardens are beautifully maintained. There are always plenty of support workers delivering care, they are good-humoured and respectful, keep the rooms clean and the residents happy. They have time to chat to Mum over a cup of tea which she appreciates hugely. She has never had any complaints during her time there. The medical support is also fantastic and phone calls and emails are always answered promptly.
On being met at reception, a manager gave the background of Donnington House, after which the tour took to view the kitchen, the lounge where the activities scheduled could be seen. Then, to view two available rooms. Whilst walking through the home, all of the staff smiled and said hello, and all of the residents we met were happy. The room was quiet with pleasant outlooks. When my wife took up resident, the care was delivered with dignity and good grace.
Overall care was very good, and the staff very friendly. This is the first time in this care home for respite so it took a bit of learning on my mum's (and my part), but everyone made sure we knew what was going on, and my mother felt safe. The Roast Lamb and the Pear Dessert were very much appreciated! Many thanks
My mum came to Donnington house in November 24. From the start, my mum has had outstanding care. I can see that my mum is clearly well cared for. She's the happiest she's been for a long time. I would like to say a special thank you to her Senior Lead. She has spent a lot of one-on-one time with mum, getting her mobility back. Mum can now walk with assistance. I never thought she'd be able to do this. Her Senior Lead and the staff are a credit to Donnington House. The variety of entertainment, food and care make this home feel like home.
When I was first looking at nursing homes for my wife, I was stuck by the very friendly and easy going atmosphere, at Donnington House. My wife has been in residence at Donnington for the last six months, and my first impressions of Donnington, have not changed! I have found the staff to be very friendly and very professional. The care my wife has had during her time here has been very good. Visitors are always welcome and are invited to dine with the residents, if you are there during lunchtime. I have to say the food is very good, with a good choice from the menu. There always seems to be some sort of activity organised during the morning for residents. The good weather of the last week has also allowed me to take my wife out to the garden, and enjoy the sunshine. We are looking forward to seeing the garden(s) in full bloom, in the coming months. Anyone looking for a nursing home for a loved one, I can not recommend Donnington house more highly enough!
My granny joined Donnington House in December 2024, she had her first stroke in 2020, which affected her speech then a few more after that affected her leg mobility. Donnington House has pushed her and been so patient, my granny wouldn't be doing half the stuff she does now if it wasn't for the loving, kind staff. I haven't seen my granny this happy in a long time which is all thanks to Donnington house, they have given her a better quality of life and something to wake up to! Not just that but the activities they do really make a difference and gives our loved ones something to talk about and genuinely smile (my granny loves the musician who comes in)
My aunt has been resident at Donnington House for some months and we have been very impressed with the care she has been given. My mum visits regularly and she tells me that the staff are all very friendly and helpful. My aunt's physical health has improved since she became a resident at Donnington House which gives us all peace of mind that she is very well cared for. There are lots of things going on in the home and I believe that she particularly enjoys the musical sessions and the visiting animals. We couldn't be more pleased.
Donnington House is a lovely care home the residents seem very happy and content at the home. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are a lovely size and very clean the nursing home is extremely clean and tidy. I couldn't fault the food it's lovely especially the cakes absolutely delicious. The staff management keep you updated on everything there's lots of activities so the residents never get chance to be bored they also have activities in the hall just down the road which the staff can take them overall it's just a lovely home with a caring atmosphere.
My family and I viewed five other care homes in the area and we were so impressed with the professionalism, care and enthusiasm of all the staff at Donnington House that truly convinced us to enrol our very loved mother into this care home. She has resided there for about a year now and we all agree there is nowhere else we would like her to be. So a big thank you to all the staff and management for the service you provide, as my mother can be a handful!
My aunt was quite poorly when she reluctantly agreed to come into Donnington House because she was living alone and unable to care properly for herself. Her carer was a great help and found the Donnington House for us. It was a matter of great concern to me that she should be somewhere nice, clean and where the staff would treat her well. The Donnington House was all of these and the food always looked fabulous! My aunt went home for a short while before being readmitted, she was better, but not well enough to leave and regretted doing so, so when it was suggested she should return and there was a room she was really pleased. She stayed a further 4 or 5 weeks enabling her to recover enough to go home. When she finally returned home, she was sorry to leave because she had had such good care, but wanted her own home again. I am very grateful to the staff for their kindness and gentleness. I am immensely grateful for a lovely place for my aunt to be in, I recommend it!
I had to move my husband from a care home as I was unhappy with the care home that he had been in for 3 weeks. I was also in the same care home for 2 weeks and was able to observe his care or lack of. I was happily able to move him to Donnington House where the care was so much more caring and the food was so much better. He was so much happier there.
All the staff at Donnington House could not have been more caring and welcoming to my mother. Her 95th birthday, just three days after admission, was made very special by the effort the staff put in. Below is the note I sent to the manager which says it all. My Mum and all the family wanted to say a huge thank you to you and your staff for such a lovely party. The effort that went into arranging everything was greatly appreciated and Mum was particularly pleased and grateful. The cake was delicious and the carer, who brought the trolley in, was brilliant and very kind. Please pass on our heartfelt thanks to everyone for making it such a special occasion.
Everyone at Donnongton House - the management, nurses, carers, housekeeping and catering treated my father with the utmost kindness during the final six months of his life. All his nursing and personal needs were met with professionalism, empathy and compassion. Donnington House liaised closely with the GP surgery, so medicines were swiftly prescribed and administered. Thank you to everyone concerned.
Donnington House is head and shoulders above other care homes my husband has used for respite. The level of nursing care is excellent, and an outstanding feature of the Home is the unfailingly warm welcome I ( and our little Westie) receive from the staff when we visit. My husband loves the food, especially the puddings!
My sister was in a care home but after a spell in hospital was unable to return there because of her nursing needs. My husband and I visited Donnington House to see if they had any vacancies as we had heard good reports about it. We were very impressed with our visit, and arrangements were made for my sister to move there. The staff have been brilliant and very patient dealing with my sister and her needs which are many with care and humour, and we are very grateful to them all.
My mum went into Donnington House in November 2023 for respite to start with and is now a permanent resident. Since being there she looks really well, and that is for us as a family, is due to the level of care she gets from the nurses, carers and the whole team at Donnington House. They are all committed to the resident's welfare. They make my mum happy with their humour and sense of fun. They also have regular entertainment which my mum sometimes joins in. I wouldn't want my mum anywhere else. She's happy and that makes us happy. Me and my family are very grateful to Donnington House and the whole team there. We're so glad we decided for my mum to be there as we looked at others which didn't come close to Donnington House.
My relative was in Donnington House for the end weeks of her life. I can't thank them enough for the amazing care they gave her. Not only did they ensure she was kept comfortable but they also looked after us as a family. I highly recommend this care home, everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
My family and I have been incredibly impressed with the quality care that my dad receives at Donnington House. The staff are universally kind, welcoming and thoughtful in how they take care of him. The food is outstanding thank you, and the whole team are brilliant at treating him like a person, not a patient or a customer. They have lots of banter with him and he enjoys that company. The manager is efficient, and accommodating and always makes time to discuss dads needs.
