Mum has been a resident of Westergate House for several years now, and I have nothing but praise for the wonderful staff of this care home. They consistently provide care at the highest level with compassion and humour, and I am happy to give the home a 5-star rating.

The best decision I made when it came to my Mum's care was placing her in the care of the team at Westergate. It was clear every time I visited that my mum was really well looked after and loved by the whole team. As a family we too, were welcomed and cared for when we visited and in those last
three weeks of my mum's life, I and my family, were treated so well it made her passing bearable. I knew she was in the right place.

My father spent a year at Westergate Nursing home due to his dementia and nursing needs, he sadly passed away in December
For the duration of his stay and especially my fathers final days, the staff cared and supported my father with such kindness and empathy
Not only did they care for my
father, they also supported me throughout the year
The communication from the staff was excellent.
I would like to thank all the staff, for all the care and support they gave my father, I will be forever grateful

A very nice home with the feel of a private country hotel. The staff are very kind and thoughtful and tend to not miss small details which makes all the difference to the care they provide. I would strongly recommend this particular nursing home.

My husband joined the community in September following a fall and a two week stay in hospital. The nurses and carers spent time with him giving him reassurance that he was now in a safe and caring environment. The home has a calm atmosphere and the residents are treated as individuals by the
friendly staff. Visitors are always made welcome . There is a comprehensive activity programme taking into account all levels of ability. Frequent reminiscence therapy sessions take place.
From my experience I can recommend Westergate House.

My husband moved into Westergate House about eighteen months ago, & has settled really well. He has dementia & requires nursing care. He has improved since being in Westergate House & I know he is happy, due entirely to the care he is getting which is exemplary. The carers go way and beyond. They
are all so kind, patient & caring. He enjoys his food ; the quality & presentation is outstanding.
We enjoyed a delicious family lunch with him in the conservatory to celebrate his birthday, & the chef & his team were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble & our lunch was superb, all wonderfully served to us.
I visit often & I am made to feel so welcome, whatever the time.
I would highly recommend Westergate House & I really couldn't wish for a better care home for my husband.

My Gran resides at Westergate House and on Friday we took her out to attend a funeral. When we returned to the nursing home, as we drove in, my Gran said "home sweet home". It was heartwarming to hear her say this and reinforces that we made the right decision to choose this home for her. We viewed
4 different homes and this is by far the best. Knowing she is so happy living at Westergate House and that she considers it her home is wonderful. Thank you to all the staff for your care, hard work and dedication and for making my Gran so happy in her home.

My sister has been a resident for 7 years now and I could not be happier with her care. The staff are marvellous and so friendly and caring. The food is amazing. I am just so pleased to see my sister so happy.

My parents have been resident at Westergate House for just over a year. My 94yr old father arrived in a sorry state following a 6 month stay in hospital. His improvement has been absolutely remarkable due to the 1st class care he's received. The staff are very friendly, kind & caring & nothing is
too much trouble. The food is delicious, with both parents' birthdays being celebrated there, with family present. Entertainment is first class, & the trips out. My mother is resident in Memory Land & every effort is made for both parents to spend time together. They are both very happy at WH.

My Father spent 18 months at Westergate House passing away peacefully on April 11th 2025. He suffered from progressive Alzheimer's - the team at Westergate kept him safe, content and calm, often happy as well. In his final days and weeks the care was exceptional (as it always had been).
Communication with family was excellent and intervention with medical professionals was always timely and caring for his best interests. The team at Westergate gave him the best possible 18 months and removed some of the worry family enabling us to visit and enjoy Dads company rather than constantly trying to deliver the care that he needed. When we visited the welcome from the team was exceptional and much appreciated. Thank you to the whole team and such great leadership from Paul

Very satisfied in the care my husband is getting. Nothing is too much trouble from all the staff for help and understanding. We thank the carers especially for help my husband in managing his meals due to his Parkinson tremor. The catering is especially to be recommended. The entertainment is fun
and adds an extra bonus for the residents to take part in if they wish. All visitors are always welcome and I can say that from experience. Thank you to all the staff.

Dads care at Westergate has been excellent. All the staff were wonderful with Dad and ensured we were comfortable he was being cared for properly
Thank you to everyone. Dad was happy to return home but sad to leave his 'friends'.

I was recommended to this Home after a not so good experience in a previous one. This was the best move I made as his care has been first class.
no restrictions on visiting.
I always found him well cared for and completely relaxed, even in his poor mental state. Thank you Westergate House,

The care given to my Dad was exceptional. I am very grateful for the rest-bite care given during this period and in fact it is the second time that we have done this. What is lovely to see is the personal energy given by each of the care team to make my Dad's day the best it can be. The staff
clearly love what they do and most of the team hadn't changed and recognised him from the first visit. The food is fabulous. The way we are welcomed into the home too makes each visit special. The activities on offer Dad loved getting involved in, I have never seen Dad do pilates before - he loved it and made me join in aswell! This is a very special home with a care team that made Dad's stay a special one.

I can't speak highly enough about the way in which all staff at Barchester Westergate House Care Home take such good care of my parents, who came with differing needs. They are in different areas of the building but are able to meet up whenever they wish, kindly facilitated by the staff.
My
parents have very specific requirements about what they want and how they like things and the team manages to successfully navigate their needs and requirements to a very high standard.
The home has the feel of a small country hotel and it is always a delight to visit and enjoy a coffee and slice of delicious, homemade cake with my parents in the bistro area. The food and dining environment are excellent and there is a fantastic range of entertainment provided to suit both their needs.
From the second one arrives at reception to the time one leaves, all staff are friendly, helpful, welcoming, efficient with a can-do attitude and I think it would be fair to say, above and beyond attitude.

My lovely mum was a resident in Memory Lane for over three years. The nursing and care that Mum received was outstanding. The leadership in the home is exemplary. The staff have been there a long time and get to know each resident. Residents get to know all who care for them, be they managers and
admin staff, nurses, carers, housekeepers, hospitality team, maintenance staff, activities team and all who run the home so smoothly. As a visitor, I have always had a warm welcome no matter when I have visited or for how long. The staff are truly amazing. The carers are kind, patient and understanding. The meals are of a very high, gourmet standard, beautifully presented and delicious. As a family, we have shared delightful meals with Mum, in delightful surroundings, including special birthdays and an amazing wedding breakfast. The care that Mum received at Barchester Westergate House Care Home for the last years of her life was exceptional. Their dignity, respect and kindness at the end will stay with me always.

My grandmother was given such wonderful treatment by Barchester Westergate House Care Home and their excellent staff. Grandma went in after a very traumatic time in hospital and another care home 3 and a half 5 years ago, and made such tremendous improvements. Her final years were a wonderful final
chapter in her life, and it was wonderful to know that she was so well looked after.
Thank you all so much for giving us a few extra years to spend with her.

My mother-in-law was 95 years old in July and I arranged with the home to celebrate the event with an afternoon tea for 14 adults and 3 children. The staff could not have been more helpful, the food was amazing and my mother-in-law continues to talk about it. It is a wonderful home from home.

I don't think you can put a price on the level of care my aunt has here. After previous experience of another home, I now sleep soundly knowing she is safe and cared for. The staff are exceptional in their attitude, manners and professionalism. My aunt is happy for the first time in quite a few
years. She says she feels as though she lives in a very beautiful hotel. Priceless. The food is also divine!
