View Full Details of Holmwood House Care CentreMy Dad spent the last one and half years of his life in Holmwood House Nursing home in Swaffham up to when he passed away in August this year at 95 years old. He was well looked after with care and kindness the whole time. We were able to visit whenever we liked and were always met with smiles. His dementia meant that he would have struggled to continue his life at home but I know that at Holmwood House he was welcomed and included in their community with quizzes, singing and puzzles each week and was safe and happy - and loved the food!
Such a lovely residence, with a super homely feel. The home smells fresh and clean and the freshly cooked meals look delicious. All the staff we have met whilst visiting our friend have been first class, helpful, friendly and so welcoming to all. Lovely admin ladies who are so kind and the nurses are delightful too. This is a calm, relaxing, beautiful place, well done to all who work so hard to make it such a lovely home.
I have found the care home to be excellent in the care for its residents and their well being. The food is very wholesome with variety and choice, and there is attention paid to entertainment, which is very important so that people are not bored. The staff are friendly, experienced and there is a good overall atmosphere.
The home sits in well kept grounds which create an air of tranquillity. The home itself is bright and well maintained, with a good sized lounge which overlooks the garden. My wife's bedroom has a garden view and comes with an en-suite toilet facility. There is a choice of meals throughout the week, which are of good quality. The staff are very kind and attentive and do a very good job in what at times, are quite difficult circumstances. The staff also do their very best to organise activities to stimulate the residents. The most important thing is that my wife is very happy there and I feel she is in good hands. The overall package is in my opinion good value for money in today's climate.
Holmwood continues to provide good care for my aunt, who has vascular dementia. Aunt has been at Holmwood for some time now and has had continuous great care.
Staff are always pleasant and helpful. Ready to listen and assist.
A few of the night care staff are brusque and seemingly uncaring. I have been upset by them a number of times. Most are excellent.
Another happy time at Holmwood House. We have very good activities coordinators, providing excellent facilities. A wide range of singers and activities have been especially inspiring. Well done to all at Holmwood House.
We come once a week to visit a resident. Everyone seems very happy, the staff are very helpful, the person we visit is quite satisfied with the cared he has, also likes the food.
We are so happy we're able to get mum into Holmwood. She seems to be more settled at Holmwood. The care provided is excellent and all staff are friendly and caring. Always happy to assist with everything we ask.
It's a delight to come and visit. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. The areas are clean, bright and very well maintained.
The staff are kind and caring, and all my needs are met. There is a good choice of food which I enjoy. The rooms and public areas are clean and well cared for.
A very good afternoon, meeting my mother. Home and her apartment were very clean as was all areas I went in. Staff were very nice and very helpful.
My Mum has been at Holmwood house for well over a year now & in that time we have found the staff to be kind , very helpful, friendly and very supportive and considerate of my Mum . When she had a bad fall an ambulance was called very promptly & the nursing staff along with paramedics helped care for her so well that Mum never felt worried or frightened. We were kept up to date with her progress & she recovered very well . She especially likes being taken outside into the garden, which seems to help with her mental health and talking to staff one to one.
What a welcoming place! My husband has only been here 13 days. I am very happy that he is here. The staff already seem to know him and are settling him in very well. Someone is always available to answer questions and explain routines. Communication is very good. I have been kept informed about what they are planning for my husband.
My mother has complex care needs, including (in my view) probable dementia psychosis. Because of her dementia, her first 2 years at the home were very challenging for a number of reasons. I am glad to say that she is now settled and stablised, due to excellent care received here. Mum now considers Holmwood, her home. It would have been easy for the team to have given up on her, in those early days, but they didn't. They worked closely with me throughout to try and find solutions, whilst always preserving mum's dignity. Last year, they enabled mum to attend my wedding day, which would not have been possible without their support. I am very grateful to them for this. For me, the home has a "warm homely feel" whilst still maintaining professional clinical standards. There are many activities, the team are friendly, and for me it feels a "home from Holm(wood)". I am able to meet my external commitments, knowing that mum is being well looked after. This is such an overwhelming relief.
My mother who is now 102 has been at Holmwood House for three years now. It is difficult for me living in the USA and being so far away, but I have come to trust the staff who take good care of her and keep her safe. I know she can sometimes be a little difficult, but they treat her with respect regardless. I am also impressed with the level of detail in the record keeping for each resident, and the fact that they have daily meetings to discuss changes in needs for every resident. I feel I can recommend Holmwood House to anyone at that point in their lives where a loved one needs more care than the family can provide.
My wife originally went for respite care and was happy to return as a resident, when her condition worsened. The staff are very welcoming and she soon became part of what feels like an extended family. I gather she joins in with some activities. I also feel most welcome when I visit and the staff and management are always approachable to discuss her specific needs. It is good to know she is well cared for and that I will be contacted whenever needed.
Mum has been able to take herself to the bathroom since moving to the home but following a couple of 'off' days, her legs gave way and she fell to the floor. On alerting staff using the buzzer, they acted quickly and carefully. Mum expressed pain in her back and hips so it was wisely felt to not attempt to move her. The paramedics had already been contacted and (despite my being able to attend), there was a member of the care team with Mum at all times. Fortunately, Mum's only injury has been a fractured wrist, but the team are very attentive and caring and communicate with me regularly and clearly if there is any change in Mum's care plan or medication. Mum is so pleased to be there and feels she is well cared for which gives me tremendous peace of mind.
My aunt has been a resident of Holmwood house for a few years now and the care she has received has been outstanding. The staff really care about all their residents showing so much kindness and care, they really do go above and beyond and it's reassuring that my aunt is in such good hands.
