View Full Details of Walcot Hall Nursing HomeMy husband was admitted to Walcot Hall at the end of March after a long stay in hospital. Overall my family and I are happy with the home and care he receives. The staff are very friendly and caring and the activities very good. The things that I am not very happy about is that I am never given much information about his medical care. I am able to ask, but don't get very good answers. Also he is sometimes in bed when I go to visit at 2.15 pm which is not very good, but wonder if there is are a reason for this.
The general service has declined gradually since the occupants took residence in April 2024. a The common reason given is a lack of staff. Overall, the care is satisfactory, but small things have a habit of getting missed. For example morning/afternoon drinks and delays in responding to call alerts. The quality of the food is excellent. Hospitality to visitors is very good.
Needed respite care after discharge from hospital with fractured arm and cracked ribs. Excellent room. Concerned not mobilised enough but told it was due to hypertensive BP reading.Came home to sheltered accommodation after 5 weeks,
I work in care myself and I have found Walcot Hall to be very caring and friendly to all. Residents are happy & well looked after. I often see activities involving the care staff & residents being helped when needed. I would in future consider having my own Dad here.
The staff have been fantastic with my very elderly & frail mother. Engaging with her and dealing with her personal care with care & dignity. The staff also ensured that her visitors were ok & I was kept informed of my mother's condition.
My father was treated with great care and respect at Walcot Hall. He was extremely happy there. He agreed to go to the Hall for 2 weeks respite care when he was discharged from hospital, but decided to stay as he was treated like a Lord! We were treated very kindly by the staff too. We had lunch with Dad several times, they were always quick to offer us a drink during the day when we visited. The home manager was very supportive when Dad died, we could not have asked for more. Thank you.
My friend came to Walcot Hall and stayed for 18 days of respite care. She came to you in a very weak state and prone to falls. This was after having been to hospital briefly and sent home but unfit to be left on her own. It wasn't until she returned home after her time with you that I realised how much brighter and capable she had become. The manager spent considerable time getting her help twice daily but it soon became apparent she didn't need that help and it was brought to an end quite soon. Her time with you was hugely beneficial to her so thanks to everybody.
I came to visit my friend in the afternoon. I found the staff helpful. There was a nice feel to the place and seemed very comfortable for all.
There always seems to be a very calm atmosphere. Often when I visit there is an activity going on. Staff seem to be very kind and considerate of the residents and act in a very professional but friendly way.
Absolutely fantastic.
Fantastic, Mum's remaining time will be the absolute best. Thank you for your care and easing my fears for her remaining time, we are making each day count.
My Father has been at Walcot Hall for 6 months and has had excellent care. There are always members of staff available to see to him and if we have any questions. The cleanliness and the security is first class. All the staff treat Dad well and have respect for him.
The staff at Walcot Hall are the most caring and efficient I have ever met. The facilities are incredible, very well managed, and spotlessly clean. The care and welfare of the residents always comes first which is evident in everything the staff do. A great place!
Our elderly and very frail friend has now been a resident at Walcot Hall for approaching a month and we have visited him on several occasions, and each time have been overwhelmed with the welcome shown to both my husband and myself and even our dog! Every member of staff seems so committed and focused on providing care, compassion and time with the residents - nothing appears to be too much trouble. Happy staff, happy residents, all provided in a calm and spotlessly clean environment.
Staff are very good and listen. Food also very good and varied. Cleaning and laundry are excellent. No complaints at all.
Very pleased with Dad's care. Lovely to have cheerful and helpful staff. A staff member has responded to our suggestion for more variety in Dad's pureed food as we felt he would enjoy sponge in custard etc. She was brilliant. Another two members of staff are very supportive of activities etc. Another staff member is lovely. I always get offers of help and feel listened to.
We believe that service is compromised by regular staff shortages. This affects our experience through slow response times when calling for assistance. Today (16/10/24) and yesterday (15/10/24), no morning teas/coffees were provided, either in the morning or afternoon. We also believe that toiletries should be provided e.g. soap, shower gel etc. Overall our experience is satisfactory but it could be improved if these matters were attended to. We like most of the staff and do not like to complain.
We visited our friend in Walcot Hall in September. She was terminally ill but receiving a high level of kindness and good care. On our arrival we were greeted warmly, and as we had to wait a little while, we were offered somewhere comfortable to sit and a cup of tea. She was in a lovely room and said that she was being well cared for.
I visited my friend who was staying in Walcot Hall Nursing Home for end-of-life care. At all times she was treated with care and compassion by your staff. Her dignity was always respected. When I visited I was always given a warm welcome by the care assistants and nothing was too much trouble.
Mother-in-law was a resident for 15 years - she was always looked after well and we were always welcome. The staff knew her well and tried their best to make her happy in her last few years. She always thought of it as her home. Marked as 4-star because recent price hikes seemed beyond inflation.
