Management was very helpful with application for admission. The room was adequate rather than luxurious. Could have had more chairs for visitors. Bathroom facilities were good. Inflatable mattress was ridged and not very comfortable. Staff were very caring and helpful. Quick response to the bell/bleeper and a rapid response when I fell. Plenty of activities and useful individual physio visits. The lunches were very good and generous. Tea was not very appetising. A plate of mashed potato faintly flavoured with cheese. A minestrone soup stone cold. Also when always asking for strong tea with a little milk often came milky. Intake of water should be monitored and offered at lunch table/left dehydrated. I was close to the link and the loud beeper beeped instantly and my hearing aid amplified it and I found it bothering. Isn't there a better system?
Thank you EC for you comments, I will ensure I feed this back to our kitchen team. We enjoyed your company for the two weeks you stayed with us and now you have been, you know where to find us should you like to come again. We will look forward to seeing you again. Take care of yourself and keep up your exercises. All the very best from team Walcot Hall. Kind Regards Connie
I am very happy with the care my husband receives at Walcot Hall. All the staff are very kind and caring and friendly, and always make me and the family very welcome when we come to visit. They are always willing to answer any worries we night have although it is not so easy at weekend. The cleanliness, laundry, and food is excellent and the activities are very good - varied.
Thank you for you comments which we value very much SB - we do have fun don't we during the activities - you are so welcome and no matter what issues you or your family may have, we are always here to make sure they are attended to with speed and care. I will share you kind words with all our staff. We are here for you any time. Kindest Regards, Connie and Team Walcot Hall.
This nursing home is simply excellent. I have experienced several homes over the years but this home is head and shoulders above them all. From top to bottom the focus is on care and compassion. The ethos is one of doing their very best for residents, extending to family and friends. Nothing is too much trouble and just ask. There is a warmth about the place and you join their family when residing there and you are treated as family. Sadly my wife's stay was only short but up to end the staff were doing all they could to make her as comfortable as possible and they could easily have said there was no point. My son and I were there a lot and they did all they could to look after us as well. All the staff were so considerate, polite, caring and helpful and this stems from management. I cannot praise them enough and they provide a first class environment and service. Food good, clean, lovely rooms and beautiful surroundings as well. Very highly recommended. Well done management and staff.
Thank you so very much for such beautiful, kind words about the services being provided at Walcot Hall. We all aim to provide a home from home experience, we are so pleased to learn you could feel this during your wife's care with us. It was such a pleasure and honour to look after your wife...
I was very happy with the overall care that dad received at Walcot Hall. The staff were always on hand to assist and made you feel very welcome when visiting. You are welcome to visit anytime making it very easy to visit around a busy working life. The cleanliness of the home was exceptional and it was always well heated. Dad's room was very well furnish and had a great view overlooking the grounds, and included his own landline phone.
Thank you so much Emerson, I know your dad loved his room and he enjoyed talking about the animals he saw from his windows. For the short time he was with us, it was a total pleasure to look after. I will share your comments with all the staff, your feedback is so very important to us. Kind Regards Connie
All the staff have been so caring and respectful towards my mum in her last days. I too was looked after with lunch and teas/coffees. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your review. Mum was a very special lady and is sorely missed by us all at Walcot Hall Team. It means so much when people take the time to review our service. I will share your kind words with the staff. Once again, thank you.
The care, kindness and sympathy shown to my family by the manager and staff at Walcot Hall Nursery Home, deserves our extra thanks and appreciation.
I will share your kind words with all the staff at Walcot Hall, thank you very much. Please look after yourself now, you know where I am if you need any further support. All the best.
A special thank you goes to the manager, whose dedication and empathy carried us through a family crisis. When official channels failed to provide the help we needed, she stepped in with guidance, warmth and support. Her advice and kindness meant a great deal when we felt lost and let down by the system and didn't know where else to turn. Thank you.
Thank you for such kind words. We try our best to ensure all our residents are well cared for and nothing is too much trouble. I was only too glad to help you and your family and your dad was most welcome at Walcot Hall. I hope you are all doing well and mum has been able to get out and about more...
My husband was admitted to Walcot Hall at the end of March after a long stay in hospital. Overall my family and I are happy with the home and care he receives. The staff are very friendly and caring and the activities very good. The things that I am not very happy about is that I am never given much information about his medical care. I am able to ask, but don't get very good answers. Also he is sometimes in bed when I go to visit at 2.15 pm which is not very good, but wonder if there is are a reason for this.
Thank you so much for your review. We have seen a vast improvement in your husband's condition since his admission. He will remain prone to infections, and of course, you will need to be updated at all times about his condition. He will have the odd day in bed as he has requested. I will ensure...
The general service has declined gradually since the occupants took residence in April 2024. a The common reason given is a lack of staff. Overall, the care is satisfactory, but small things have a habit of getting missed. For example morning/afternoon drinks and delays in responding to call alerts. The quality of the food is excellent. Hospitality to visitors is very good.
Thank you for your feedback DD, as advised in one of your previous reviews, we are fully established, staff try hard to respond as quickly as they can when any resident call for assistance - all calls are monitored for time response, every call every day. A daily report in generated any delay over...
Needed respite care after discharge from hospital with fractured arm and cracked ribs. Excellent room. Concerned not mobilised enough but told it was due to hypertensive BP reading.Came home to sheltered accommodation after 5 weeks,
Thank you for your comments. We hope he has settled well now home again, we hope she is continuing to take things slowly and take her time - build up her strength safely over time. All the very best and thank you again for taking the time to write a review about our home. Kind Regards Connie
I would in future consider having my own Dad here.
Thank you so much for your review - it is so nice to read from another care provider visiting a friend and to learn you would place your own father with us is a tribute to all the hard work every member of my team provides on a daily basis. I will share your thoughts with all my colleagues - once again, thank you. From Team Walcot Hall.
We were treated very kindly by the staff too. We had lunch with Dad several times, they were always quick to offer us a drink during the day when we visited. The home manager was very supportive when Dad died, we could not have asked for more. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your comments, they mean so much to us all at Walcot Hall. Your father was an amazing gentleman, in every sense of the word. We miss him very much. We all wish you and your whole family all the very best and of course - feel free to pop in from time to time. We would all love to see you and say hi. Love and Best Wishes from Team Walcot Hall.
My friend came to Walcot Hall and stayed for 18 days of respite care. She came to you in a very weak state and prone to falls. This was after having been to hospital briefly and sent home but unfit to be left on her own. It wasn't until she returned home after her time with you that I realised how much brighter and capable she had become. The manager spent considerable time getting her help twice daily but it soon became apparent she didn't need that help and it was brought to an end quite soon. Her time with you was hugely beneficial to her so thanks to everybody.
We are extremely happy to hear she is still doing so well, thank you so much for your kind words. I will share these with my team at Walcot Hall, please wish her well from all staff here - we hope she grows in strength to strength.
I came to visit my friend in the afternoon. I found the staff helpful. There was a nice feel to the place and seemed very comfortable for all.
Thank you for your review of Walcot Hall, it is very much appreciated, I will share your comments with the staff. Home Manager and Team Walcot Hall.
There always seems to be a very calm atmosphere. Often when I visit there is an activity going on. Staff seem to be very kind and considerate of the residents and act in a very professional but friendly way.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our service and kind words about the staff. We try to ensure every day to provide the best possible care for all our residents. I will feedback your comments during our team meetings and handovers. Kind Regards, Walcot Hall.
Absolutely fantastic.
Thank you, it is nice to know you are really happy with the service at Walcot Hall, I will share your comments with the staff. Kind Regards, Home Manager and Team Walcot Hall.
Thank you for your care and easing my fears for her remaining time, we are making each day count.
Thank you so much for such lovely words. We aim to provide the highest standards of care and to be here for the families as much as you need us, we truly understand how much this journey takes from the family members and want you to feel able to come and go and continue to remain a huge part of...
My Father has been at Walcot Hall for 6 months and has had excellent care. There are always members of staff available to see to him and if we have any questions. The cleanliness and the security is first class. All the staff treat Dad well and have respect for him.
Thank you very much for your feedback, this is so important to the staff, to hear how others see us, makes all the hard work worth it, it is lovely to read such nice words, I will share your feedback with my team at Walcot Hall, I know how hard they work to keep the home clean and how hard we all...
The staff at Walcot Hall are the most caring and efficient I have ever met. The facilities are incredible, very well managed, and spotlessly clean. The care and welfare of the residents always comes first which is evident in everything the staff do. A great place!
Thank you so much much, that really means a lot to us all here at Walcot Hall. I will share your kind words to all the teams on site. It's lovely to read how others see our home, we love it here and aim to ensure every person who lives here receives the very best care we can provide, reading your words makes all our teams feel valued - and that matters!
Our elderly and very frail friend has now been a resident at Walcot Hall for approaching a month and we have visited him on several occasions, and each time have been overwhelmed with the welcome shown to both my husband and myself and even our dog! Every member of staff seems so committed and focused on providing care, compassion and time with the residents - nothing appears to be too much trouble. Happy staff, happy residents, all provided in a calm and spotlessly clean environment.
Thank you so much Deborah, we really do appreciate any feedback, as this truly helps us to focus on all the things that matter to our residents, friends and family. I will share your lovely words with the team here - it matters to us, we all strive to be the best possible people we can be in all our roles at Walcot Hall - once again, thank you so much.

Meet the Team (6)

“I have more than 38 years’ experience in nursing and management roles, across the NHS, Acute Health, and Social Care, and more recently with private Health Care Organisations. I am an ambassador for Dementia Care and an Older Person’s Nurse Fellow with King's College London –I take great pride in all my roles and am passionate about caring for the older person. I work hard with all my teams, which includes my residents, staff and family members, to provide the best possible standards of person-centred care, along with ensuring as much as possible that every resident is happy, cared for and is living their best life within the care environment.”

I consider myself good at my job due to my strong organisational skills, adaptability, friendliness, and excellent relationships with residents, staff, and visitors. I believe I enrich the lives of the residents in our home by being friendly and always making time to chat with them, which they appreciate. In terms of relevant education and training, I have a background in the Civil Service, having worked with the DWP for nearly 30 years in various roles, including fraud detection and benefits processing.
I often go on walks with my springer spaniel, Herbie, and find great joy in my garden and being outdoors when I'm not at work.

I've worked in Walcot Hall for about 13 years now, and I must say it's a lovely home with a very friendly staff team. It's a wonderful place to work, with beautiful views. I have a real passion for cooking, and I always make sure that the meals I prepare are of the highest standard and quality. I'm proud to say that I've completed all of my training in food and hygiene, and my kitchen has a 5-star rating.

I’ve worked in care for over 12 years, starting in nursing homes straight after school, completing my Nursing Degree, and working as a district nurse before joining Walcot Hall. What I enjoy most here is the friendly, fun environment we create for our residents. I want Walcot Hall to feel like a true home, from the laughter and happiness to the compassionate, person-centred care we provide every day. Nothing is ever too much trouble when it comes to enriching our residents’ lives.

I love being part of a supportive team and bringing joy to each day, whether that’s through creativity, fun activities, or simply sharing a dance in the sunshine. I enrich residents’ lives by making them smile and encouraging them to try things they may not think they can do, which is incredibly rewarding to see them achieve. I have completed all mandatory training and bring over 20 years of experience as a sheltered housing officer, which has given me a strong foundation for my role at Walcot Hall.

I enjoy working with a fantastic, supportive team and being part of such a positive environment across all departments. I enrich residents’ lives by leading fun, engaging exercise sessions that promote wellbeing and bring plenty of laughter, and it’s always rewarding when they ask for more. I bring over 20 years of experience in education and am qualified to deliver exercise to music and chair-based exercise for older adults.
