“I have more than 38 years’ experience in nursing and management roles, across the NHS, Acute Health, and Social Care, and more recently with private Health Care Organisations. I am an ambassador for Dementia Care and an Older Person’s Nurse Fellow with Kings College London –I take great pride in all my roles and am passionate about caring for the older person. I work hard with all my teams, which includes my residents, staff and family members, to provide the best possible standards of person-centred care, along with ensuring as much as possible, that every resident is happy, cared for and is living their best life within the care environment.”
I consider myself good at my job due to my strong organisational skills, adaptability, friendliness, and excellent relationships with residents, staff, and visitors. I believe I enrich the lives of the residents in our home by being friendly and always making time to chat with them, which they appreciate. In terms of relevant education and training, I have a background in the Civil Service, having worked with the DWP for nearly 30 years in various roles, including fraud detection and benefits processing.
I often go on walks with my springer spaniel, Herbie, and find great joy in my garden and being outdoors when I'm not at work.
I've worked in Walcot Hall for about 13 years now, and I must say it's a lovely home with a very friendly staff team. It's a wonderful place to work, with beautiful views. I have a real passion for cooking, and I always make sure that the meals I prepare are of the highest standard and quality. I'm proud to say that I've completed all of my training in food and hygiene, and my kitchen has a 5-star rating.
I’ve worked in care for over 12 years, starting in nursing homes straight after school, completing my Nursing Degree, and working as a district nurse before joining Walcot Hall. What I enjoy most here is the friendly, fun environment we create for our residents. I want Walcot Hall to feel like a true home, from the laughter and happiness to the compassionate, person-centred care we provide every day. Nothing is ever too much trouble when it comes to enriching our residents’ lives.
