It is always a pleasure to visit this care home. The place is spotless, the food is good and the care is great. My friend is very happy living at Walcot Hall and sees it as her home. The staff are always polite and helpful.
During the last few weeks - during lockdown - my mother-in-law's grandson died. The staff have helped us to visit in a way which met the circumstances and respected COVID rules. They have always practiced deep compassion and care for all the family.
Thank you for your kind review. It is a pleasure to care for your mother-in-law and support the family.
Very good quality home.
All round my mother is happy with the staff and all that happens in the home. Food is good, she is quite content.
During this period he was looked after brilliantly by a dedicated team who he bonded with very well, having settled quickly after a fall at home had led him to become confused and unable to walk. My brother and I visited him regularly with my brother attending most days to provide family support and myself most weeks from Surrey.
He was mostly found in the atrium with a cup of tea, other residents and staff from Walcot Hall providing food, entertainment and many cups of tea. There were always nurses on hand to administer medication and to provide support. The grounds at Walcot Hall are beautiful so was easily possible to wheel him out into the fresh air, was able to enjoy a nice day, while restaurant facilities were excellent as was service and food.
My father entered Walcot Hall and prospered, mainly due to fantastic attention and good food and nursing.
The care that the staff are giving to my Dad is first-class. They are so kind and compassionate. They are not only looking after my Dad but are also supporting me and the whole family. I have absolute confidence in their care; professional care and the highest of standards. Thank you.
My mother has been a resident for 3 years. Her increasing frailty has been dealt with tactfully and kindly by all the staff as has her increasing ill-health. Her care has been excellent towards the end of life all dignity and consideration was given to her needs and mine. She was sound of mind and the staff always consulted her about her care and medical treatment. The home is bright, clean and well-appointed with lovely grounds and caring staff.
Very nice, no complaints about the home itself. Happy with the treatment I get.
Exemplary nursing care provided after a major hip revision surgery. The food is extremely nourishing and varied, other snacks are brought out on request. Immediate response to the call button 24 hours a day. All the staff are extremely positive, friendly and caring.
She is very frail and unable to move around without help.
She is very well looked after by a caring and sympathetic staff.
The atmosphere is cheerful and friendly, and the surroundings are very pleasant.
I would regard it as the most suitable care home for anyone.
My mother has been in the care home for two years until her death. The care she received was extremely good and the staff were very attentive and efficient.
Public areas are kept welcoming and clean/tidy and the nursing care is excellent.
I would highly recommend it to others.
I can not fault Walcot Hall Nursing Home. From our first visit whilst looking for a suitable Nursing Home for my mother, to my mother being cared for by the staff at Walcot Hall I can say that I have never been disappointed. The grounds are very attractive with good facilities and easy parking. The cleanliness in the bedrooms and communal areas is second to none. The food is attractively served. The staff are caring, knowledgeable, attentive and keep the family informed. Families are and made welcome and supported when required.

Meet the Team (6)

“I have more than 38 years’ experience in nursing and management roles, across the NHS, Acute Health, and Social Care, and more recently with private Health Care Organisations. I am an ambassador for Dementia Care and an Older Person’s Nurse Fellow with King's College London –I take great pride in all my roles and am passionate about caring for the older person. I work hard with all my teams, which includes my residents, staff and family members, to provide the best possible standards of person-centred care, along with ensuring as much as possible that every resident is happy, cared for and is living their best life within the care environment.”

I consider myself good at my job due to my strong organisational skills, adaptability, friendliness, and excellent relationships with residents, staff, and visitors. I believe I enrich the lives of the residents in our home by being friendly and always making time to chat with them, which they appreciate. In terms of relevant education and training, I have a background in the Civil Service, having worked with the DWP for nearly 30 years in various roles, including fraud detection and benefits processing.
I often go on walks with my springer spaniel, Herbie, and find great joy in my garden and being outdoors when I'm not at work.

I've worked in Walcot Hall for about 13 years now, and I must say it's a lovely home with a very friendly staff team. It's a wonderful place to work, with beautiful views. I have a real passion for cooking, and I always make sure that the meals I prepare are of the highest standard and quality. I'm proud to say that I've completed all of my training in food and hygiene, and my kitchen has a 5-star rating.

I’ve worked in care for over 12 years, starting in nursing homes straight after school, completing my Nursing Degree, and working as a district nurse before joining Walcot Hall. What I enjoy most here is the friendly, fun environment we create for our residents. I want Walcot Hall to feel like a true home, from the laughter and happiness to the compassionate, person-centred care we provide every day. Nothing is ever too much trouble when it comes to enriching our residents’ lives.

I love being part of a supportive team and bringing joy to each day, whether that’s through creativity, fun activities, or simply sharing a dance in the sunshine. I enrich residents’ lives by making them smile and encouraging them to try things they may not think they can do, which is incredibly rewarding to see them achieve. I have completed all mandatory training and bring over 20 years of experience as a sheltered housing officer, which has given me a strong foundation for my role at Walcot Hall.

I enjoy working with a fantastic, supportive team and being part of such a positive environment across all departments. I enrich residents’ lives by leading fun, engaging exercise sessions that promote wellbeing and bring plenty of laughter, and it’s always rewarding when they ask for more. I bring over 20 years of experience in education and am qualified to deliver exercise to music and chair-based exercise for older adults.
