View Full Details of Barchester Alice Grange Care HomeThe home is beautifully decorated and on the face of it seems really good. My father went for a 2 week respite to try and help him following a fall. Unfortunately once he'd gone in and paid the fee we found things were not suitable for his mobility needs. The en-suite bathroom was a disaster with no grab rails for the shower meaning he couldn't use it and with the toilet not having wall mounted rails meant a free standing frame was needed which with the perching stool needed to use the basin and walking frame to get about meant the bathroom was cluttered and a danger for someone at high risk of falling. So I wouldn't recommend for anyone who needs aids in order to use a bathroom. The food was also a complete let down, nothing like the 5* dining experience the website would have you believe. Overall very poor value for money at £1,800 a week. In the end my father had to leave after 6 days as totally unsuitable all Barchester care about is taking your money!
I have enjoyed minute of it. I never seen anybody like the staff do here. Everuone is treated the same. I enjoyed entertainment & activities. If needed I will come back without delay at all. If I can not manage at home I will difinitely come back
Mum has been in Alice Grange about a year now, having lived with us for over a decade. Moving from home in your 90's is a difficult thing to do. Mum has settled into AG very well, the Staff have all been wonderful, they genuinely 'care' for her and appreciate her personality. She says 'nothing is too much trouble' and she herself recommends it to anyone who's interested. We are very pleased with her care, including her daily care, emotional care and for them identifying when any medical care is needed. Everyone we have come into contact with is friendly, capable and committed to providing good care. The home is purpose built and spacious, with all the facilities needed, including a lovely garden and regular entertainment. So glad we chose Alice Grange.
I was nervous at first, after my hospital stay, but soon found good friends in the staff who were ready to help me in my room and also outside. I cannot praise them enough. The food was really good for me, as I'd lost my appetite, and now I am eating well. I did enjoy the trips out and the things (like scrabble) which we played. Thank you all.
The care home is just brilliant. The staff are all very friendly and caring. Residents have plenty of entertainment and activities are so good, so much to do. Can highly recommend.
Staff are all wonderful. Dad enjoys activity, food!
Thank you to all the staff from the nurses, carers, cleaners, management and the cooks. We couldn't ask for more in terms of how they looked after my partner while he was with you here at the care home. Will recommend this place to anyone who needs the care.
The staff all of them were excellent from the cleaners to the care staff to the chefs we all cant thank you enough we will always recommend Alice Grange to anyone.
Mum came to Alice Grange at short notice + loved it from the initial visit. It is so reassuring that she is well looked after + entertained so much. As children it is fantastic that the home share responsibility for her + we can enjoy time with her more. Thanks to all, we can't recommend enough.
I enjoy coming here every Friday to see staff and other people. Makes me happy to see everyone.
From the moment we were shown around Alice Grange we knew it was the right place for our mother with Alzheimers. The manager was honest and approachable. The day of arrival we were met and taken to her room and she had lunch whilst we unpacked. Then the lead activities + senior carer were just wonderful and made our mum feel safe + welcomed. The staff, from nurses, carers, activities + management have been nothing more than wonderful + my mum is very settled + enjoying life again.
Our mother had a stroke in 2023, had lost the mobility on her left side and hadn't been coping well with home carers. We were delighted that we managed to get her a room at Alice Grange as it looked amazing and the carers were so friendly. The food leaves a lot to be desired and the strict regime of the management was heart-breaking. My mother was not allowed a table for jigsaw puzzles, despite whole rooms not in use. When they used the dining room on the 1st floor, there were only 4 residents in there, but they were made to sit on the table in the middle & not permitted to move next to the window. Rules are so strict and appearance is too important. The carers and cleaners were amazing and well qualified, but over worked as bells were constant. The management team seemed ok at first, but finance was a mess and the admin bordered on rude and uncaring. So glad she left as she is so much happier in her new home, laughs more & her mobility has improved. Looks aren't everything.
My Uncle has recently come to reside at Alice Grange Care Home. My first visit was so welcoming and really festive, I was offered refreshments and mince pies, it made it feel like a real home from home. The home was decorated beautifully and very Christmassy. There was lots of fun and laughter heard. There was a singer on the day that I visited but on looking at their activities planner, there was so much more planned over the Christmas period. I look forward to visiting again soon and all my worries about my Uncle being in a care home have now been put aside, as I know he is comfortable receiving good hearty meals. He has a smile on his face with all the planned events that are happening and what he has already gone to.
I found it very relaxing. I would recommend it if you can afford it! The staff are caring and all treated me with respect.
I would like to know the activities that are participated in. Unsure whether undressing into her night clothes and showering each day. At home, she did need help. Knowing her, she's probably saying she's capable but I'm not sure - need checking. These are just teething troubles whilst she settles in. Overall, very happy.
Overall, patient is very happy, clean and safe. Staff are very polite, very well cared for, very welcoming environment. Needs met all the time. Would recommend highly.
Friendly and welcoming home. Clean and tidy.
Barchester Alice Grange Care Home is a wonderful place and the staff try their hardest to give an excellent overall experience. Great home and care!
I was pleased that I chose this care home for respite for my husband and the staff seemed very caring. Also, I was given a tour when I called for a brochure which I very much appreciated. My husband enjoyed the activities, especially the concerts.
My sister and I were very impressed with the facilities at Barchester Alice Grange Care Home the day my mother was taken there. She was given her own room and settled in very well. The room was lovely and big which helped us as Mother has a large family. The food was always nice and served with a smile, as was everything else done at Alice Grange. Very professional. The activities are many, if you are able, with the activities coordinator very busy, planned things as there is always something going on. People are going out and about the local area, enjoying a day at the seaside or local museums. The home also has local musicians coming in to entertain the residents from time to time. The gardens are well-maintained and a joy to walk around with a beautifully laid out water feature in the newly constructed pagoda. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the very hard-working staff. The home has a great bunch of volunteers, who do a wonderful job, assisting the staff. All in all, an excellent home.
